“Did she eat?” Choi Min Ho is gazing ahead. He hasn’t changed his clothes or ate anything ever since Nam Ji Won has been kidnapped.

“She ate a bit today.” Oh Soon Ri sighs. Two days ago, he appears with the girl in his arms. She has never imagined that she would meet Nam Ji Won likes this. She has been waiting to meet this girl for decades. Not like this.

“That’s a relief.” He sits up, cross-legged. They are at his residence. He didn’t take her to the academy’s clinic. Nam Ji Won is not in the state to answer anyone’s question. Her mental state is in chaos. She doesn’t leave her room or talk to anybody. If she is asleep, her ghost stays beside her body. If she is awake, she covers herself with the blanket and refuses to see anyone.

“Does she hate me?” He asks her. “I shouldn’t have been distracted. I should have located the spinning room faster. She has been stuck in that for days. I can’t imagine…”

“If she hated you, I would have been relieved,” Oh Soon Ri tells him with a sad voice. “If she yelled or cried, I would have been relieved. But, she is quiet. You can’t even read her mind. I can’t read her cards. It’s like she is still stuck in the spinning room. We can’t reach her.”

“It’s my fault.”

“I wish that I could tell you otherwise. You underestimated Monarch.” She turns around her wheelchair. “Now, they know about her. They will be waiting for her to go to them. It’s just a beginning.”

A beginning of fall.

“I don’t think that I can fulfil that promise.”

“To me, she is like a daughter that I never had. You brother died saving her. She was the last thread to his humanity. She is a gift that your brother left in this world. She is not your brother. She isn’t Jasper. I hope that you understand that.” Oh Soon Ri looks up at the sky. “Whether you are a side character or the main character in her life, you are the only one who can decide. She doesn’t deserve your hate.”

“I will tell her everything.” He meets Oh Soon Ri’s eyes. She nods quietly. He goes to his room. He takes a bath and changes into fresh clothes. When he comes out, Oh Soon Ri tells him that Teacher Bae waiting for him in the sitting room with a boy. He is half surprised to see Seo Tae Il. The boy is still here even when he compelled him not to seek Nam Ji Won anymore.

“You!” Seo Tae Il jumps on his feet. “You…Argh!”

Choi Min Ho sighs. His memories must be coming back after seeing him. Memories manipulation doesn’t work on everyone. Some people are more resistant to it than the others. Besides, when he did it to Seo Tae Il, he has gone through a shocking experience on the roof. It’s easier to manipulate Go Eun and Mother Nam’s memories when they didn’t see Nam Ji Won being taken away by a stranger.

“Where is she?” Tae Il grabs his collar.

“She is…found.” Nam Ji Won is not fine. “She is resting.”

“I want to see her.” Tae Il lets go of his collar. “Now.”

“It’s not the best time to meet her.” He turns to look at Teacher Bae. “You brought him?”

“I can’t let an innocent boy walk into a forest to become a wild animal’s food.” Teacher Bae grins at him. “When I was coming back, I heard from the locals that there was a famous actor looking for the academy. I was rather curious. I found him near the edges of the forest. Someone must have told him the life-ending path for being nosy. Famous people attract attention, you know. But, I couldn’t watch such a pretty body walk into the danger. I thought that it was better if I brought him to the academy to wipe his memories. Things have turned out different than I imagined them to be.”

A life ending path? Food for a wild animal? Tae Il remembers the waiter. He must have told him the wrong path to become some animal’s food for being nosy and famous. He has been in disguise. How did people recognize him? Screw this. Where is Nam Ji Won?

“You can keep sharing notes.” Tae Il grimaces at Choi Min Ho. “I want to see her now.”

“You are her friend?” Tae Il turns to look at the owner of the voice. It’s a middle-aged woman in a wheelchair.

“I am,” He tells her gravely.

“Maybe…it’s best if he meets her.” Oh Soon Ri smiles at Choi Min Ho. “Love is the best healing medicine.”

“Something bad happened to her.” Tae Il rushes to Oh Soon Ri’s side. “Let me see her. Please.”

“Go through that door.” Choi Min Ho points at the door behind Oh Soon Ri. “The last room.”

Seo Tae Il doesn’t wait for another word. He runs out of the door and finds the last room in the corridor. Nam Ji Won is lying on the bed, looking at the ceiling with empty eyes.

“Ji Won?” He sits beside her. She looks lifeless. Not again. Last time, she went to sleep. Now, she like this. Why do bad things keep happening to her? He should have protected her from that thief. What did that man do to her?

“What happened to you?” He asks, but she doesn’t answer him.

“Ji Won.” He hugs her and keeps calling her name.”I am here.”

“You shouldn’t be here.”

Tae Il takes a deep breath when he hears her talking. “I thought that I would never hear your voice.”

She sits up and pushes him away.

“Are you hurt anywhere?”

He puts his palm against her forehead. She doesn’t have any fever. Her eyes and skin have a normal colour. Her arms don’t have any wounds. Rather, it’s her heart that’s wounded.

“I am fine.” She gets off the bed. She doesn’t want to see him the most. “Go back.”

“You are not fine.” He pulls her in his arms. “Nam Ji Won, why are you lying? When will you stop lying? If you are hurt, you should cry. If you are in pain, you should tell. I am here to listen to you. I will take any pain away. Don’t close your world to me. Don’t leave me on this side of the world alone. I love you. I love you. I love you, idiot. I will keep saying these words until you understand. Stop lying to me that you are fine.”
