Evil Half Ghost Wife - Chapter 49 You Should Hate Him
Nam Ji Won holds her head in her hands. She didn’t want this to happen. Seo Tae Il shouldn’t be here. He should be back and doing what he loves to do. She wants to stay beside him, but not like this. Why is he being stubborn? He is gone with Teacher Bae to register at the academy. Teacher Bae is the person who is most happy with his decision. Teacher Bae will be his mentor. How did it come out to be like this?
Oh Soon Ri is making lunch for them. Oh Soon Ri has taken care of her like a mother for the last two days. She needs to thank her properly.
Then, there is this fox.
“Has it been your planning all along?” She asks him calmly.
“It’s his decision,” Choi Min Ho replies with a sneaky smile. “You should stop blaming yourself for other people’s decision.”
She looks away with a frown. “If I should not be blamed for their actions, then you shouldn’t be blamed either. Don’t look at me with guilt in your eyes. You have helped me a lot. I would have never woken up if you didn’t come to see me. Thank you for everything, Teacher Choi. You did whatever you could. You found me in the end.”
Choi Min Ho takes a deep breath. She has changed. She is avoiding his eyes. There is a distance between them. She doesn’t call him by his name or get mad. She is purposely thinking about random things. It’s interesting that he is upset about. She knows that he can read her mind.
“There is something that you should know.”
Nam Ji Won looks at him expectantly, wondering what he has to say. She is trying hard not to think anything about that day.
“You were not born like this,” He tells her pensively. “It was my brother who turned you into an esper.”
She blinks blankly. It takes her a long moment to digest his words. Turn her into an esper? When did that happen? Is that even possible?
“What are you saying, Teacher Choi?”
“My brother name is Ju Jimin.” He stands up and walks in the middle of the backyard. He looks at her straightforwardly. “We had different fathers. He was eleven years older than me.”
“Ju Jimin.” Is this a coincidence? Nam Ji Won is surprised to hear that name. She used that name before. That’s how it started for her. “Have I met him?”
“You have, but you won’t remember it.” She is shocked. He doesn’t read her mind anymore to hear her thoughts. “When you were around four, you were at the hospital for treatment.”
That’s twenty years ago. When she was young, she used to get sick easily. She visited the hospital frequently.
“My brother died nearly thirty years ago.”
Nam Ji Won doesn’t understand. “We couldn’t have possibly met if he died before I was born.”
“He didn’t meet you physically.” Choi Min Ho meets her eyes. “My brother was an assassin at Monarch. His code name was Ghost. He could travel through space and time in his astral body. He killed people in his astral form. Back then, the Monarch received a request to kill an old nurse at the hospital. The client was her son. He asked them to kill her after ten years. The death had to be natural. An old woman dying from a heart attack was natural enough. My brother was chosen to do this job.”
He is afraid. Will she hate him and his brother? Her expression is unreadable. When did this person learn to hide her emotions so well? He resists reading her mind.
“You know that some children can see strange things when they are young. When they grow up, they stop seeing strange things. That old nurse was taking caring of you at that time. When he was going to stop her heart, you suddenly ran in front of him to protect the nurse. Instead of his target, he used his powers on you.”
She doesn’t remember ever doing that. She doesn’t remember that nurse either. She remembers frequently going to the hospital, but her memories are hazy. She doesn’t know how to react.
“He used everything in him to heal you. But, you were from the future and he was from the past. The healing needed more from him than he could give. When he was trying to save you, his soul broke. He lost his abilities to you.”
Choi Min Ho looks at her with a pained expression. He clenches his fists. Why isn’t she blaming him or his brother already? If her brother didn’t save her, she would have lived a normal life. She wouldn’t have become a target of the Monarch Company or get involved with the council. Those things wouldn’t have happened to her.
“You lost your brother because of me.” Nam Ji Won stares at him. “I am sorry…I had no idea. You still helped me even after that.”
He opens his mouth in surprise. She isn’t supposed to say that. “He didn’t die because of you.”
“He died saving me.” She looks down at her palms.
“You should hate him.” He shakes her by her shoulders. “You became what you are now…because of him.”
“I am living this life because of your brother. When I was at the hospital, I used to have a weak body. My parents spent a lot for my treatment. The doctors told them that I didn’t have long to live because of my weak body. The doctors told them that I might live up to eighteen. But, it was strange. Suddenly, my body started to become healthy again. The doctors thought that it was a miracle. My father believed that I overcame that obstacle on my own. My mother believed that her prayers worked. But, it was your brother who changed my life,” She says with tears welling in her eyes.
“Teacher Choi, it must have been hard for you. I was saved that day by your brother. I was saved by you. I owe you a lot.”
What is she saying? This is not what he imagined. He blamed her. Yes, in the past, he blamed her. Whatever his brother was, his brother was his only family. His brother took care of him. When his brother died, the Monarch told them his brother died during a job. When Oh Soon Ri tried to find his whereabouts, the cards told them that he went to hell.
Then, he went to hell to find for his brother. He wanted to know how his brother died. He wanted to bring his brother out of hell. But, when he met him, his brother asked him to save this girl from the Monarch and herself.
His brother wanted to save this girl, but he ended up making her like him. His knew that she would become like him one day. He wanted Choi Min Ho to save her from the Monarch. To save her from herself.
Back then, he was ten years old. He hated it. All he wanted was his brother to come back to life. Instead, his brother asked him to take care of a girl to rectify his mistake. For two decades, he has been looking for her. When he found her, she turned out to be different than he imagined her to be.
There is another secret in his heart. In the depth of hell, a demon showed him the future. In the future, he saw her. she told him that it was inevitable that he would fall in love with her. Ever since then, he wanted to see the person.
The person he has wanted to see. The person who was saved by his brother. They were the same. The oracle demon was right. It’s inevitable that he would fall in love with a ghost. It’s inevitable indeed.
“I understand what he meant that day.” He hugs her suddenly. “Nam Ji Won, I am glad that my brother saved you that day. I am happy that I got the chance to meet you.”
