Evil Lady: My Hubby is a Traitor - C50
Chapter 50 – Zheng’an Pawnshop
In the west side of the capital city, there was a cross road separating the four branches. In the east side, most of the people were living and in the west side, most of them were playing. In the west side, there were two types of shops, but in the east side, in the west side, there was a cross road separating the four branches.
The Zheng’an Pawnshop was located in the west side of the city in Helan Workshop.
Gu Yicheng held his hands behind his back and was about to walk into the Zheng’an Pawnshop, but he noticed with his sharp eyes that the carriage of the Gu Xiangfu was slowly approaching them.
Zheng’an Pawnshop’s shopkeeper was currently taking inventory of the pawns inside the pawnshop’s counter. When she saw the people outside through the railings, her heart shook, and she called for the shop assistant to take the pawns out and put them away, before coming out from behind the counter to welcome them.
“Master.” The shopkeeper was in his prime and had a strong physique. He had been practicing his stance in the business all year round. “Is the first young master here to find some good goods or to appraise treasures?”
The shopkeeper had said ordinary words, but everyone knew what he was implying.
When the Left Premier went in and out of the pawnshop, it was really inappropriate. Gu Yicheng would come every half month, so as to prevent political enemies from being suspicious, he would come by the name of being mischievous. Right now, the people in the pawnshop were mostly valuable items.
“Today, if you want to find some good stuff for Mrs. Benchmark, the best would be some good jewelry that could make Madam’s appearance even more beautiful.” Gu Yicheng said disrespectfully, his manner and actions were like those of a popinjay of some rich family.
Gu Xiangfu’s carriage stopped in front of Zheng’an Pawnshop, and Gu Yicheng walked to stop in front of it.
Chun Hua and Qiu Yue took the lead to get off the carriage, and when they saw Gu Yicheng walking towards the carriage, they sensibly stood to the side.
Yun Qianliang got out of the horse carriage, and was surprised by Gu Yicheng’s brilliant smile. Seeing him extend his hand towards her, she obediently placed it in his palm.
Gu Yicheng held her hand, and used a little strength to drag his out of the carriage and into the pawnshop.
“Didn’t you say that you’re busy investigating and don’t have the time to come?” The two of them walked side by side, and Gu Yicheng replied.
“It’s not as important as staying alive when investigating.” Yun Qianliang pretended not to hear the meaning in his words, and glanced at the wound on his shoulder faintly discernible from the corner of her eye, then unceremoniously went back, “Master, you can do your best. If something goes wrong in the future, Chenqie will not take responsibility.”
Yun Qianliang looked ahead, and from the corner of her mouth, she had a light smile, dignified and elegant, with a calm and gentle atmosphere.
The Zheng’an Pawnshop was the biggest pawnshop in the capital, not only did they receive the pawns, they also bought those dead and valuable antique treasures, some rich people who liked to collect would come to see them, but those rich and powerful people who only bought and showed off or set them up rarely came to pawnshop them, some precious things that were not preserved well were old and were not kept well, causing people to resent it, so those who came were knowledgeable people.
The pawnshop was divided into two areas, the pawnshop’s counter was on the left side, and the goods for sale were on the right side. Inside was a resting area for entertaining customers, decorated with ancient decorations.
After the shopkeeper took their seats, he asked the shopkeeper to bring them some antiques and jewelry for them to choose from.
“Please wait a moment, young mistress. I’ll go prepare the goods now.” The shopkeeper entered the backyard from the side.
Gu Yicheng held a glazed blue and white porcelain bottle in his hands. The white bottle had a view of the bustling streets, he turned the bottle and looked at the painting on the bottle carefully, and then knocked the bottle’s mouth and bottom, looking like he was really buying antiques.
Yun Qianliang looked at the pawnshop’s terrain, and then retracted her gaze after a long while, and started to look at the neatly arranged hairpins in the tray. There were golden hairpin s with gems embedded, pure colored jade hairpins, and exquisite workmanship.
“Pick and see.” Yun Qianliang said to the two servants standing behind him: “Your two birthdays are almost here, each of you pick out a piece of jewelry you like, and consider it as me giving them a birthday present in advance.”
Hearing that, Gu Yicheng’s appraising of the antique made him pause for a moment unnoticeably, and his mood rose up happily.
He loved money, but was willing to spend it on his own people.
“Madam, you don’t need it. The gifts are too precious, and this servant dares not accept them.” Chun Hua and Qiu Yue looked at each other, then waved their hands and rejected him. Qiu Yue, who was dazzled by the sight, lowered her head even more, not daring to look, afraid that she would be mistaken as someone who liked them.
“It’s up to you guys to choose, but you won’t listen to me, right?” Yun Qianliang purposely made a face to misunderstand their intentions.
“Madam has misunderstood.” Chun Hua anxiously explained, “This servant and Qiu Yue are servants, there is no place for you to wear such precious jewelry, even if you buy it you would just leave it there, so don’t waste Madam’s money.”
“Who says no, are you not allowed to marry in two days?” Yun Qianliang said seriously.
After Chun Hua and Qiu Yue heard these words, they walked to the front and knelt down, their eyes red, “This servant only wants to follow beside Madam and beg Madam to not chase us away.”
Yun Qianliang never thought that the two would be so excited, she only thought that there would be a day when women get married, sooner or later, the two of them would give their all to her, she had to quickly prepare a good dowry, so that others would not see through it.
“Marriage does not conflict with following me. What are you thinking?” Yun Qianliang considerately reached out to help her up. Seeing that the two servants’ eyes were red to the point of tears, she consoled them without waiting for anything, “Gu San, 14, Liu An and the others are all not bad. You can marry the people in the house.
“Madam, you’re making fun of us again.” Qiu Yue’s face was thin, it turned red just like that.
Yun Qianliang’s mouth was full of nonsense, unable to laugh.
“Hurry up and pick it, otherwise I’m really angry.” Yun Qianliang waved his hand.
Chun Hua and Qiu Yue hesitated to pick out the jewelry, but those two who looked at the precious treasures didn’t dare to look at it.
Yun Qianliang leaned her elbow on the armrest of the chair, and raised her hand to support her forehead.
She hadn’t even given up on the idea of packing her bags and leaving. She had even advised them to search for the people in the mansion. Wasn’t that just fooling around? If they really did find her, and if one day she leaves Gu Xiangfu, wouldn’t the two girls’ bad temperaments make them abandon their husbands and leave with her?
He accidentally made his way onto the path of evil.
“Qian Qian. My birthday is about to arrive.” Gu Yicheng finally saw enough and put down the porcelain bottle, telling Yue Yang full of anticipation.
Yun Qianliang looked up at him, then continued to support his forehead in regret.
“Aren’t you going to give me a birthday present?” Gu Yicheng continued to shamelessly ask for more.
“You have to send him off?” Yun Qianliang was confused.
In order not to provoke her after marriage, the palace did not dare to send a mama to teach her any more. Even the people sent by the Gu Xiangfu were chased away, to the point that she could not figure out what was going on in there.
Gu Yicheng nodded seriously, “I have to send them off.”
Yun Qianliang thought for a long time and came up with an idea.
“Fourteen, go buy me a few pieces of wood that are fine, fine, and sturdy. Then buy me a set of tools for carving.”
“Madam, you’ve even sent me such precious jewelry, only giving me a few pieces of wood?” The Gu San could no longer bear to watch and cried out for justice.
In the eyes of the madame, the young master was not even equal to a servant.
“Disliked? “Alright then, I’ll take my leave.” Yun Qianliang was anxious to make the decision, as though he was waiting for the words to save money and trouble.
Gu Yicheng secretly stared at Gu San and quickly said: “If you don’t mind, I happen to be short on wood.”
Yun Qianliang smirked. Wooden? Are you kidding me?
You want to cheat money!
After approximately the time it took for an incense stick to burn, the manager came out from the rear courtyard.
“Madam Prime Minister, the goods are ready. Please follow me.” The manager bowed to invite the others in.
“You guys wait outside.” Gu Yicheng got up and brought Yun Qianliang to the backyard.
The backyard of the pawnshop was connected to three or four other shops in the area. They were well-arranged, spacious and secluded, with a sense of seclusion. Occasionally, there were traces of debris in the dirt on the road leading to the backyard.
The more distant fields were planted with unknown flowers. The flower bud was small and exquisite, and the flowers were clustered one by one.
Yun Qianliang took a light sniff of the strange fragrance in the air. Initially, it was light, but after it entered her nose, he felt a strong fragrance.
Yun Qianliang covered her nose with her silk handkerchief and walked towards the flower bed.
“Madam, you can’t …” The manager wanted to stop him.
Gu Yicheng raised his hand to indicate for him to be quiet and wait.
Yun Qianliang walked in front of the flowerbed and picked a flower bud that had bloomed well. She stared at the tender yellow stamen within for a long time, then brought the flower close to his nose and moved the silk handkerchief away. Taking a light breath, he covered his mouth and nose with the handkerchief once again, and inserted the flower that had been plucked into the soil.
“See what?” Gu Yicheng asked the person who walked back, pretending not to know anything.
“Drunken Fragrance.” Yun Qianliang revealed the secret of the flower bed with a glance.
Her five senses were very good. Although the other four senses were not as sensitive as her hearing, they were still much better than the average person’s five senses.
At first, when she smelled the strange scent of the flower and walked closer to feel dizzy, she knew that the flower bush was not simple.
“Is his sense of smell good too?”
“Not bad.” Yun Qianliang followed the shopkeeper in front who was leading the way.
Gu Yicheng touched his chin, and quickly followed.
There were only two chairs placed in the room, making it seem very spacious. The windows of the room were all covered in a layer of opaque oil, causing the room to be lit up by candles in broad daylight.
There were twenty men in uniform in the room, arranged in two rows for easy observation.
“Greetings, Lord Prime Minister.” They were neat and orderly, ready for battle.
Gu Yicheng nodded and sat on one of the stools, “Pick one.”
Yun Qianliang roughly looked at the guards and said: “Four people in a group, from the door to the front.”
Yun Qianliang held the armrest with both hands and tapped his index fingers on the armrest. When the guard was about to move, she closed her eyes and carefully listened to the sounds of his footsteps and the rubbing sounds of his clothes as he waved his arms. He borrowed the sound to distinguish the opponent’s martial arts level, characteristics and weakness.
After everyone had finished walking, they lined up.
“I want them all.” Yun Qianliang said loudly.
“Sure.” Gu Yicheng smiled craftily as he stared at her, “However, I have a condition.”
Yun Qianliang shook her head with a look of disappointment.
He said that he could go to Zheng’an Pawnshop to pick out the person with this jade pendant, and even started to talk about the conditions.
Men, what you’ve said can only be ignored.
“Apart from money, there’s nothing else.” It was more important to stay alive.
