Evolution Theory of the Hunter - Chapter 161
“…… Damn.”
I glared at An Gyu-bum who was smiling insidiously with one hand up.
“I was wondering what you were up to coming to such a cold place.”
An Gyu-bum hugged his own body with his arms.
“Did you tail me?”
“Not as far as tailing, just following around.”
“You’re dead if there’s no proper reason.”
“You dare!”
Jeon Min-jeong who was stuck next to An Gyu-bum like a shadow took a step forward.
“I will make it so that you can’t use that mouth of yours anymore if you take another step forward.”
“Urg.”
She put a hand on the handle of her sword but she couldn’t draw it.
She knows herself that there’s no way she can win if I fight seriously after all.
An Gyu-bum opened his mouth with a smirk.
“To intimidate a powerless girl. You’re going a bit too far.”
“I’m not in the mood to joke around. I can tolerate you tailing me within Seoul but it’s a different story here. You did something at the level where you couldn’t say anything about even if I killed you right now. And I don’t really want to miss such a chance you see. That’s why, help me justify the reason you tailed me within 10 seconds. Otherwise I’ll make it so that you can’t even regret it.”
“That’s scary. Are you not even thinking about who’s behind me?”
“The GE Group? Do you think they can do something to me without any evidence?”
“Sorry. If it’s evidence then it’s up there.”
He pointed a finger towards the sky. As I turned my head up a drone was flying at an incredible height.
“Is it recording?”
“Of course. It’s diligently recording. Of course, it’s impossible to watch it without my permission but if I die the video will be handed to the analytical laboratory and they’ll know at once that you’re the culprit.”
He opened his mouth while grinning.
Curiosity rose together with annoyance.
I really couldn’t understand. Why was this guy trying to get involved in my life so much.
“Why are you being so obsessed with me?”
“Because it’s fun?”
“Cut the crap. I get that you’re not normal but you’re not a guy that’s free enough to come to such a place just for fun.”
“Did you understand me to that extent? Good. Then let’s talk.”
An Gyu-bum took a few deep breaths and opened his mouth.
“You saw Baek Gyeong right?”
“……!”
“There’s no need to get surprised. I also, no, should I say we? We know about Baek Gyeong to some degree after all.”
“So, you’re saying that’s the reason you tailed me?”
I had only run into Baek Gyeong coincidentally. That wasn’t a reason to be tailed.
“I told you. I didn’t tail you. I just spotted you while following Baek Gyeong around. To kill those guys single handedly, it was quite a sight.”
“…… So you’re saying it’s a coincidence?”
“I can’t help it if you don’t believe me though.”
An Gyu-bum shrugged. I couldn’t believe him to be honest. However, I didn’t think he would answer properly even if I dug more.
I changed the question instead.
“How do you know about Baek Gyeong?”
“That’s, because we tracked him since a long time ago. I’m quite interested in fun items you see.”
“Item……?”
“Ah, that looks like a human being but it’s not a human being.”
“Aha.”
Since it’s a copy. It wasn’t very surprising.
“Hm, it seems like you knew that much?”
“I just felt that it wasn’t like a normal person.”
I spun my words for now. I wasn’t even sure about how much this guy knew about Baek Gyeong.
There was nothing good about making it noticeable that I knew about in such a situation.
“If you hand over information that you know about Baek Gyeong then I’ll give you information on this ruin.”
“You know about the ruin?”
“Probably more than you know.”
An Gyu-bum.
All I knew was the simple fact that he was the successor of the GE Group.
Excluding that, the fact that he had a surplus of money and that he uses it as he wants.
It was weird that he was spending that money in strange places instead of arming himself in level 10 items.
Since he was a guy that said he would buy the van at 1t it would be easy for him to become a level 10 hunter.
However, this guy didn’t seem to have much interest in being a hunter.
The Storm Blade or whatever was also just a type of pastime.
“Simply put, I’m the executive advisor of system research facility run by the GE Group.”
“So something like a salary Lupin?”
“It’s fine to think of it like that. But it’s not like I don’t do any work at all?”
“Stop saying meaningless things and talk about the ruin.”
“This ruin is you see…….”
An Gyu-bum slowly raised his hand and put it on the bear stone statue.
“We will talk after killing this.”
“What……!”
As An Gyu-bum slowly backed away the stone statue started moving.
Alaska Arctic Bear (10) : A monster that lives in cold areas. Has a powerful front paw swinging attack as well as a roaring ability that can induce fear.
It’s Alaska if it’s Alaska and Arctic if it’s Arctic so what the hell is Alaska Arctic Bear but then again the name depends on the person naming.
It’s the reason why there are monsters with scientific names while others have weird names.
Either way, a level 10 monster itself didn’t pose a problem.
I won against a Black Tiger before and I’m incomparably stronger than that time after all.
But the story is a bit different if there are two of them.
An Gyu-bum, this bastard. What is he thinking……!
“Why are you looking at me like that? I woke it up since I thought you would be able to kill them.”
“You, you wait and see.”
I grinded my teeth and took out the Dancing Sword. I was thinking about damaging them before they fully woke up.
Exclamation came out from behind as I covered the Dancing Sword in Aura Blade.
I ignored it and sent the Dancing Sword.
The Dancing Sword stabbed one of the slowly moving bear in the middle of the forehead.
A thundering noise a hundred times louder than striking marble with a hammer was produced. The Alaska Arctic Bear flew backwards causing its head to crash into the ceiling of the entrance.
The stone pillar collapsed just like that and the entrance broke down. It’s going to be tiring to get in there later.
“Grr!”
The other one charged forward kicking off the ground.
“Cheh.”
The ground was irregular on top of this place being the coast so movement wasn’t a normal kind of difficult. I moved to the side for now to avoid the arctic bear’s attack.
“Hah!”
I could see An Gyu-bum draw his sword and charge at the bear.
That guy, was he charging at a level 10 monster when he was merely a level 8?
The moment I imagined his figure getting ripped to shreds by the bear An Gyu-bum’s body sunk into the darkness.
It looked similar to Edward’s Shadow Conversion.
“Martial Arts of Death.”
A trail of black light cut the arctic bear’s body.
However, the attack got deflected as it got blocked by the bear’s leather.
It was interesting how it was an attack carried out while etherized but it was meaningless with such low damage.
“What are you…….”
Dozens, no, hundreds of slashes rained down on the arctic bear in an instant.
It was an attack that looked like a a comet of black light was falling. An amount of attacks that I found difficult to follow with my eyes poured down.
Slash marks got embedded all over the arctic bear’s body. Damage that could fluster the enemy got through after hitting several hundred times.
“Kwooo!”
In the end the arctic bear let out a roar mixed with pain and swung its front paw towards An Gyu-bum.
However, An Gyu-bum who was dematerialized leisurely avoided the attack and retreated. He then shouted towards me.
“Urg! I leave the rest to you!”
“Are you kidding me? Catch what you started catching.”
“No, I can only use this technique once.”
That asshole.
I looked at the arctic bear that was colored red all over.
One of the bears was still stuck under the ruin entrance debris and flailing around. It seemed like it would break free soon so it seems like I will have to take care of this one first.
I kicked off the Dancing Sword and flew up.
What was the strongest attack I could show right now.
My greatest strong point was my powerful physical abilities.
Also, Aura Blade that could be covered on a weapon.
Finally, the Dancing Sword that boasts tremendous weight.
Combining all those there’s a very simple conclusion.
“Hah!”
I continuously stepped on the Dancing Sword and jumped toward the sky. I passed the cliff, reaching the sky up to the limit of the Dancing Sword and grabbed the sword.
I then started falling down.
Free fall from 100 meters while holding the Dancing Sword covered with Aura Blade.
I slashed the arctic bear’s head while carrying massive kinetic energy from speed alone over 150 km/h at the moment of arrival.
The might of the sword that sliced the bear vertically was far too powerful and made half the cliff behind it collapse.
But the sensation in my hand merely felt as if I was slicing tofu. My hand didn’t even get stuck at all.
I shivered at the wry sense that I could feel all over my body while kneeling in front of the arctic bear.
“Grr…….”
I could hear the growling noise from the arctic bear’s mouth. I looked up at it while slowly raising my body.
A thin crimson line was drawn from the top of its head and continued towards its inner thigh.
A fountain of blood shot into the air. Warm blood sprayed everywhere as the massive arctic bear’s body of over 5 meters got split in half.
It met the New Alaskan chilly wind and fluttered away as it became a red blizzard.
The monster’s body that got split in half collapsed to the left and right.
[+1,000]
The thing’s body started returning to the void as the reward points came in. It was the Rapid Return function.
– Ore, Ruthenium has been obtained.
I was hoping an item would drop if possible but it was an ore this time around.
Seeing how it’s a name I heard for the first time it seems it’s a level 10 Exotic Matter.
I decided to inspect the details later and looked towards the other monster.
The monster that barely managed to break free from the collapsed entrance was running towards me while stomping the ground.
I considered taking care of it using the same method as before but decided to go with close combat this time.
To be honest, the one just now was quite a lucky case. It was just staring at me, waiting for me to fall down after all. If it could use its head even a bit it wouldn’t have let itself be hit by such an attack.
Also, monsters weren’t idiots. They’re not normal beasts either.
It would have seen its friend get severed in a single strike so it probably won’t get hit by it.
But so what.
A single one was just a good prey.
*Fighting sfx*
I took out the Dancing Sword from the collapsed arctic bear’s heart while twisting it. Warm blood poured down on my face.
[+1,000]
I felt this all the time but the reward points are really stingy. To give a mere 1,000 points when I killed a level 10.
“Phew.”
I let out a light sigh as I cleaned my face with the sleeve of my clothes. Would Soo-ah have tried to clean my face frivolously if she had been here?
Edward held out a towel at that moment.
As I stared at him his face crumpled up.
“Soo-ah requested this of me.”
“That girl. Doing something pointless.”
Either way, it wasn’t bad that someone was caring for me. I wiped the blood on my face and body and threw away the towel on the ground. There’s probably no need to go through the trouble of using it again after washing.
“I see you’re slowly becoming a greater monster.”
“You’re originally a monster though.”
“I think that’s a racist remark.”
“It’s not a race but species discrimination.”
“Either side is bad.”
Edward said so with a straight face. He’s a guy that doesn’t know humor.
