Extreme Ice Immortal - Chapter 1 Where Am I?
Earth, China, 2068
“HAHAHA I have finally done it! Just one last step and the A.I. chip will be directly dowloaded and attached to my neuro-pathways.” Thought Song Yu.
Currently Song Yu was strapped into a chair with several wires attached to the sides of his head. If you followed these wires from his head it would lead to a giant computer mainframe that had several trillion letters of code streaming across its screen.
In Song Yu’s left hand was a red button. “Once I push this then those stupid primates will understand my genius. Who says that the human brain cannot take this much stimulation?! HAHA maybe their brains can’t but I am the great Song Yu!” Said Song Yu with Blood shot eyes.
Taking one step back, Song Yu was once known as the brightest up and coming star in the scientific field in China. People said that he was going to change the world. Unfortunately, the older generation said that his ideas were too radical and unethical. If he were to carry out his experiments then not only would he hurt himself but also those around him.
This caused Song Yu to blaze with anger. He thought that his ideas were a work of art. How could a brilliant man such as himself be reckless with his precious life? This rift with his colleagues caused Song Yu to be ostracized within the scientific community. He lost his funding for his projects and his assistants all left him because there was no money to pay them.
Backed into a corner, Song Yu felt that his best chance to regain his glory was to do what they said was impossible and complete his experiment of melding a A.I. chip into the neural-pathways of the human brain. Because his funding had dried up, he only had enough money to run the experiment once so he skipped the testing on mice and decided to test it upon himself.
Song Yu had no worries because this machine was built by his own two brilliant hands, nothing could go wrong…
Back to the present, Song Yu tightly gripped the switch while carrying a confident smile on his face. He lightly tapped on a green button that was connected to the right arm rest on his chair. This button turned on the camera that was facing Song Yu and also initiated the live feed to the whole world.
With a confident laugh Song Yu made eye contact towards the camera and said, “Hello world! I Song Yu with one push of a button will blow the minds of all of you who doubted me. Be prepared to be proven wrong by me! Hahaha I know that there are several old foggies out there watching, don’t spit out your dentures when I succeed.” Song Yu gave one last smile towards the camera then pressed the red button with his left index finger.
There was a loud noise when the machine started up. It sounded like the turbines of an airplane right before take off. Song Yu still looked comfortable as everything was still going as planned. Tons of computer code started to flow through the electrical wires connected to Song Yu’s head. He could feel a slight pressure on his brain but it was within his pain tolerance.
As the information was funneling into his brain, scientists from all around the globe tuned in to watch the experiment live. Some hoped that Song Yu would create a miracle while others hoped that the experiment would fail horribly. The one thing that they could all agree on is that this was one exciting event.
Back in the lab room Song Yu was getting excited because over 99% of the data had been downloaded into his neural-pathways and his experiment was about to become a success. Just as the last percentage was entering Song Yu’s brain an electrical spike from the machines energy core shot through the wires and headed straight towards Song Yu’s brain. Song Yu only had time to open his mouth and say, “Shit” before the electricity shot into his brain causing his head to instantly explode.
The whole room was silent for a moment before the machine lit up with a “beep” sound followed by, “Congratulations! The data has been successfully downloaded to the subject. The experiment has been a success. Viewers across the world, it is recommended that you take some Advil for your blown minds.”
Meanwhile, when Song Yu felt his head explode he thought that his life was over. He felt his mind turn dark, as his consciousness floated away from his dead body. After a unknown amount of time Song Yu’s blurry mind finally started to clear up. He tried to open his eyes but then realized that he currently did not have any!
Confused and slightly afraid, Song Yu thought to himself, “Where am I? or better yet what am I?” Just when Song Yu could not get anymore confused, he heard a “beep” coming from inside his mind, “Initializing bonding…. Bonding Complete… A.I. Chip Version 1 Activating…” Song Yu’s mind blanked out once again as he thought, “My experiment was a success?!. HAHA I knew I was a genius”
While Song Yu was feeling proud of himself the A.I. chip activated again and said, “Host please choose gender setting for A.I. Chip”. While Song Yu was still confused on what was going on, he decided to just deal with the situation one step at a time first.
For Song Yu picking a gender was easy for him, of course he would pick a girl. Song Yu did not want another man in his head, he did not play for that team. “I choose female” said Song Yu. “Female has been activated, please give A.I. chip a name.” Said the A.I. chip.
Song Yu thought it over and said, “Your name shall be Little Bird for you shall always be on my shoulder HaHa.”
The A.I. Chip replied, “Name selected… Finalizing voice… 3..2..1..” After a short pause Song Yu heard a cute voice in his mind similar to that of a teenage girl, “Hello master! My name is Little Bird. How can I help you?”
Hearing this voice Song Yu felt a wave of satisfaction because of his accomplishment. Basking in his glory for a short while he came back to his senses and asked Little Bird, “Do you have a body scanning function or something that can tell me where or what I am?”
Song Yu was not stupid, he realized that even though his experiment was a success in a way he still failed since his head exploded and he died… but those are only small details so he was not going to let them bring his mood down.
Little Bird instantly responded, “Master I do have a scan that can currently scan the inside of your body and 5ft outside your body as well. Would you like Little Bird to scan for you?”
Song Yu was pleasantly surprised, as he was the one who programmed Little Bird he should know all its settings but since the accident happened he did not know what sort of mutations might have occurred to the device.
Song Yu replied, “Yes please scan my current body and the outside environment as well.” Song Yu did not have any eyes so he was very curious to what could have happened to him.
After a “beep” Little Bird said,”Master after Little Bird scanned your body she has determined, that according to my knowledge obtained from my data base, master is currently only an embryo inside your mother. Also, the outside is different from your previous life, it is more similar to ancient China. Lastly, but most important of all your mother is very pretty according to Little Bird’s opinion hehe.”
After hearing Little Bird’s answer, Song Yu’s brain went blank. He had a hard time digesting this information.
After a while Song Yu struggled to finally say, “I the great genius, Song Yu am a stinking baby?!?”
