I drove the car and drove on the Panshan Highway. The breeze is gentle and comfortable. Driving to a secluded bamboo forest in Houshan, I got off and walked. Along the tree-lined path, walk up slowly. With the muddy wind blowing in my face, I took a deep breath with my eyes closed, and the dirty air in my lungs seemed to be purified like this. Every time I come here, my mood is exceptionally quiet. I turn off my phone and don’t let anyone disturb me. Today is my weekly family day with my parents.
The mountain spring gurgled along the steps, ding dong. From time to time a bird tweeted happily. At the end of the steps is a small garden with melons, fruits and vegetables planted in the fence wall, and a few round tables with rattan chairs under the grape rack. The antique building in front is designed by my mother and I according to my dad’s residence beside Caotang Temple.
Open the door with the key and shout: “Dad, Mom, I’m back.”
The room is classic old-fashioned furniture, only basic essential modern appliances. The kitchen, living room, and bedroom are all clean and tidy. Dad’s most precious wooden boxes are placed on the study table. The box was polished to be extremely smooth and spotless.
No one can be found everywhere. Take out the phone to call your mother’s phone, think about it and put it back in your pocket. Where else can they go? It must have been to the temple of Qianshan.
Every day my parents go to the temples in Qianshan to study the Scriptures. The monks in the temple thought they were ordinary residents. However, they often admire Dad’s Buddhist attainments and often invite Dad to lecture. It seems that today, Dad was invited again.
Walking into the hall of this thousand-year-old temple, I saw a large group of people chanting the sutra. It is the Diamond Sutra I am most familiar with. Listening to their singing like poetry, my nose is a bit sour. These verses, after the test of 1650, are still widely recited.
“Sudden Bodhidharma! If someone gives alms with the immeasurable monks of the world seven treasures, if there are good men and good women who give bodhicitta, hold on to this sutra, or even four sentences, etc. Victory. Why is Yun giving a speech, not depending on the phase, as if not moving. Why?
“Everything works like a dream bubble, like dew, like electricity, and should be treated as such.”
“Buddha said that it is just a matter of time. Elder Xu Bo mentioned Zhu Picchu, Pichoni, You Posai, You Po Yi, everything in the world, heaven, people, Ashura, and what the Buddha said, they were all happy and believed.”
After chanting, the monks and many lay people worshiped the Buddha. Two old men stood up in the crowd. The old woman’s hair was gray, and her neck was still brightly colored silk scarves. The old man’s tall and thin body is a bit rickety, but it is a transcendent posture that has gone through vicissitudes. Raising his hand to carry the bag he carried, a string of red agate beads exposed on his wrist.
The two old men smiled at each other and walked out of the hall holding hands. I smiled and stepped forward, helped them take the bag, put one in one hand, and walked easily to the temple gate.
