Falling For The Bad-boy Superstar - Chapter 82:Headlines
“Lana. How are you feeling today?” Mrs. Logan hovered by the hospital bed as her eyes roved along her daughter’s body. “You’re looking much better though.”
“I would feel a whole lot better if your boyfriend dropped the false charges he laid against my husband,” Lana emphasized her point.
“Sorry sweetheart. That’s not going to happen…” She said this calmly and quietly.
“We both know that he tried to kill me..”
“Lana I-” the corners of her mouth sagged and they were both silent for a few moments Her mother’s countenance seemed troubled.
“What is it?” Lana asked as she struggled to sit up.
Linda Logan sat down, rather discontented. She was a long time silent, motionless, her eyes fixed ahead. “I know. I know everything-Alexander has been lying to me all this time and I-I’m sorry sweetie..” she placed her hand over Lana’s, “I should have believed you-I should-”
“So now you believe me? Do you believe Jordan?” She held her breath.
“Yes…He was right all along. I was such a fool.” She replied. “I overheard a conversation he was having with one of his henchmen-Lana you’re not safe here.” She stepped forward and spoke in a hushed tone. “We need to get you out of here. Jordan isn’t safe either..You should alert your bodyguards or whoever-but you need to get out as discreetly as possible and fast.”
“How do I know this isn’t a trap? Why should I trust you now?” She eyed her mother with suspicion.
“You don’t have to tell me where you’re going. I just want you to be safe. Jordan too-”
“Why are you so concerned all of a sudden? What changed mother?” She inquired with a skeptically lifted brow.
“Last night, I overheard Alexander talking to someone on the phone…” she wrung her hands in agony, distressed that she could not at once repair the evil she had done. “He was saying it would be better to kill Jordan instead..that way he could have access to his organs-and to kill you just for good measure..”
“Do you have any idea who he was talking to?”
“Probably one of his assassins-I don’t know…” Her words rushed out with a bitterness that was the cover of her distress.
“I need to get out of here.” Lana threw the covers aside and swung her legs over the bed. “Please get Jones to come back inside so I can update him?”
“What’s going on kid? You shouldn’t even be out of bed-” He looked at her with concern as she continued to pack her bag.
“We need to get to Jordan. His life is in danger.” She winced, but she made a shift to conceal her realization of the truth she had stated to him.
“We have people keeping a close eye on him so don’t worry. Please get back to bed-”
“You don’t understand Jones. Carter is-” Suddenly she clutched at her breast, as if she had felt a sharp pain there. She went white and clutched the edge of the bed, with her eyes closed.
“You’re so stubborn!” Jones muttered as he scooped her into his arms and laid her back on the mattress.
“She needs to get out of here-” Her mother spoke up.
“So you’re the one that’s putting ideas into her head? Can’t you see she’s in no condition to play Cops and Robbers?” Jones remarked, a resentful look in her eyes. She irritated him more and more, not by what she did but by what she was. He disliked this woman.
“They’re going to come after her again.” She reiterated her assertion as if she anticipated that he was going to dispute it. “Please get her away from here. Please.” Linda Logan’s eyes too, began to implore him.
“Why should I listen to you?”He looked at her with apprehensive eyes.
“Like I said to my daughter; you don’t have to tell me where she is, but just make sure she is somewhere safe.” She touched her daughter’s pale face lightly with her fingers. “He’s been pretending to be sick so he can stay close to Lana longer. He just wants to keep an eye on her and make sure that his instructions are carried out I guess.” She muttered with a hanging head and hunched shoulders.
“Then go and do what needs to be done,” Jones stated. “I will need at least twenty minutes to get her out of the building. Can you manage that?”
“I will do my best.” She pursed her lips and frowned a little in thought.
“I will take good care of your daughter.” There was a faint smile on Jones’ face, which reassured her.
“I know.” Affirmed Mrs. Logan, with a rueful and crooked smile. “Guess I’ll see you around.” She gave Lana a hug and retreated quickly out of the room; the click of her heels echoing in the passage.

The news headlines that week were all dedicated to Jordan Carter. Every media house had its own version of events. Because it was a celebrity that was under custody the powers-that-be decided to deny him bail.
“Did you manage to get a hold of AK?” Jordan asked Kyle when he came to visit him at his holding cell.
“She’s in Geneva with the President. They’re attending some UN Human Rights Summit that’s been running all week and they won’t be back until tomorrow. I’m sorry man..” Kyle apologized profusely as he sat opposite his friend.
“I understand. She just can’t abandon her responsibilities as a UN Ambassador and come running to my aid.” Jordan ran a hand over his face and threw his head back.
“I’m sure she would if she could..” Kyle smiled.
“Are you okay though? They didn’t hurt you did they?”
“No. Not yet anyway…”
“Why didn’t you tell them that the president knows about-you know?” His friend questioned.
“What would that sound like? Hey! Guess what? Ask the President-he knows my story.” He rolled his eyes and sighed. “Besides, I didn’t make a formal report about Alexander’s threats so-” he shrugged helplessly.
“We will get you out of here okay? Just hold on a little bit longer..Barry is doing everything he can too.”
“Time up!” The jail-guard announced as he stood at the door.
“Is there anything you need? Pen and paper maybe? Tupac wrote some of his best songs when he was in prison.” Kyle joked.
“Get out of here Kinley!” Jordan couldn’t help but laugh.
Jordan was back in his cell and while it was night-time he couldn’t fall asleep. He was thinking about how his dad had set him up and how this was affecting Lana. He just hoped she and the baby were safe and well. He heard the prison guard rattling his keys and his footsteps approaching; until the guard finally halted outside his cell.
“Get up Carter! You have a visitor.” He unlocked the cell and held the gate open. “You’d better freshen up boy. The President of the United States-and probably his mistress-are here to see you.”
