Falling For The Bad-boy Superstar - Chapter 91:After Effects
Carters were still grappling with parenthood. The sleepless nights, the incessant crying and changing of diapers were fun the first month, but somewhere down the line, it began to take its toll and lose its luster. They loved their twin boys to bits but they were a handful.
They were both tired and irritable due to sleep depreciation, and probably sexual frustration added to the equation. Jordan hadn’t been intimate with his wife in almost two months and it was killing him that they couldn’t enjoy even one night filled with passion.
“Baby, I think it’s time we got help,” Jordan suggested one night as a cry resounded through the baby monitor.
One cry usually turned into two, which meant double-trouble. Lana had dark circles around her eyes and his t-shirt constantly smelt of baby vomit or pee, or both. He felt sorry for whoever did their laundry because it wasn’t a pleasant task and with the way he had to change, there were always heaps of clothing that needed to be washed on a daily basis.
“I’ll go and get them,” Lana said in a hoarse voice, as she threw back the covers. “I know you have a photoshoot and an interview tomorrow morning.”
Jordan grabbed her wrist and pulled her back as he switched on the lamp on the nightstand. “Listen baby… I know you’re against it but we’re like the Walking Dead right now- you look like you’re about to drop any minute and I’m worried about you Lana. Please allow me to get a nanny to ease the burden? We can afford it-I promise you, we’re not bankrupt yet.” He let out a dry laugh. “Please baby? I’m constantly tired-so are you… I can’t even think straight-I can’t remember the last time we slept through the night or even had sex.” He raked his unruly hair and sighed-he knew exactly how many days, right to the hour.
“You’re right…” Lana admitted and she felt bad when she gazed intently at her husband.
He had lost that glow in his angelic face and his beautiful eyes. He looked like he was run over by a train and lived to tell the tale. “I’m sorry babe..I was so caught up in trying to be a perfect mother that I didn’t realize how it was affecting you-”
“Us.” He emphasized. “It’s affecting both of us baby-”
“Can you hear that?” Lana whispered excitedly, as she held up her hand.
“What?” Jordan whispered back.
“The wailing stopped…By some miracle, I think they went back to sleep.”
“Hallelujah!” Jordan threw his hands up in the air and sank back onto his pillow.
Lana giggled as she rested her head on his chest. “Feels good doesn’t it?” she asked as she snuggled closer to him.
“Yes…But I can tell you something else that would make me feel real good right now.” He told her, his voice husky and seductive.
“Tell me?” Her voice caught in her throat. Dare she hope?
“I miss you, Lana.” He leaned on his elbow and looked down at her, his fingers tracing her delicate jawline. “I miss us..”
“Show me…” It was a statement and not a question.
Jordan didn’t need any further encouragement but put into action what words couldn’t possibly express…

The very next day Jordan canceled all his appointments and interviews for a suitable caregiver were conducted, where both the parents and god-parents were present. Unable to choose who would be the twins’ godfather, between Kyle, Jones, and James, Jordan and Lana nominated all of the above. And obviously, Lisa, Olivia, and Amaya were the god-mothers. It was a tough choice but they were convinced their boys would be in good hands.
The interviews dragged on all day and just when they had lost hope, they found the perfect candidates. The concerned parties decided the boys were too much for just one person, so they hired two nannies instead and it worked out perfectly.
Lana and Jordan slept like babies and they found a routine that worked for all of them. She went back to college after three months and was able to juggle her school work, being a mother and a wife.
The godparents were always willing to take the boys while they went on a date night or needed time out. Life was good for the Carters.

Jordan’s birthday came up and Lana threw him a big surprise bash at a local hotel. All his friends and colleagues were invited to the memorable event; which was strictly by invitation as usual.
Jordan and his boys sat at the bar talking about their lives and he realized for the first time in his life he was happy.
“I never thought I’d ever say this-but for once in my life, I can safely say..I’m happy.” He smiled brightly as he swirled his glass. “I feel like I’ve found the missing piece of the puzzle.”
“My baby is all grown up.” Kyle teased as usual.
“I’m glad and I must say I’ve never seen you this content with life.” Jones grinned.
“You too..” Jordan pointed at him. “Ever since you got back with you re-married your ex, it’s like you’re floating on air.” They cracked up.
“Well I got a wake-up call. You only live once kid so you need to make the most of it.”
“You know..you never really told us what happened to you that time when you disappeared..?” Kyle knitted his brows.
“Fair enough.” Kyle backed off, not wanting to push him.
“I think I need to take my wife on a much-needed mini-vacation.” Jordan immediately changed the subject. “You’re all welcome to join us of course. You always impose yourselves anyway!” Jordan laughed.
“That’s because you always invite us to tag along.” James pointed out.
“He knows the party starts and ends with us,” Kyle smirked.
“Let’s have a toast?” Jordan proposed and waited until every glass was raised. “To friendship…and to love.” He said with a smile.
“To Love and friendship!” The friends chorused as they clinked glasses.
“I love you guys so much. You’re always there for me through the good and the bad. I appreciate each and every one of you.” Jordan said.
“Is that why you named the boys after all of us?” James grinned.
“Pshh..yeah!” Jordan rolled his eyes and they laughed again.
“Anyway we didn’t come here to drown our sorrows, we came to have fun right?” James intervened. “Justin and Chris should be here soon.”
“The End!” Jones laughed with a shake of his head.
“Remember tonight is the night we can get you totally wasted,” Kyle said ushering the waiter to bring shots. “Starting…now..”
“Oh no!” Jordan groaned.
“Oh yes!” James countered.
The guys raised another toast and then hit the dance floor, and Jones was right when he said that was only the beginning.
“Are you having fun?” Lana asked as they danced together.
“I’m having the best time baby. Thanks for doing this.” He smiled.
“So what do you say we turn it up a notch?” She said, a hungry look in her eyes.
“What did you have in mind sweets?” His hands gripped her waist, pulling her against him. The anticipation made him light-headed as his eyes flickered towards her lips.
“Follow me to the bathroom, …” she lifted her chin. The tip of his tongue brushed against her bottom lip, wetting it.
“So you can unwrap your present…” she whispered in his ear before she sashayed away.
The thought of tasting those perfect lips again made his stomach flutter. Jordan let out a slow, shaky breath as he looked around, smoothed down his hair, and waited for exactly ten seconds before he trailed after his wife.
Needless to say, they partied like the rock-stars they were and crawled into bed at the wee hours of the morning; finishing off what they had started in the bathroom. Fortunately, they had the luxury of sleeping in, thanks to the two very capable caregivers.
