Falling In Love With The Devil - 19 The Only Thing He Needed
After driving for an hour, Jun Feng finally stopped the car near a beautiful lake where the golden picture of the sun was gently reflected on the crystalline water. However, it still couldn’t be compared to the ephemeral beauty of the pink sky spreading across infinity behind the shining rays of the day-star.
” Where are we? ” Ying Yue asked as she got out of the car and followed Jun Feng’s lead who was guiding her by the hand.
” My favorite place in the entire world. ” Jun Feng calmly responded but the gentle ripple that came to disturb his usually serene eyes betrayed his calm posture.
” Did you came here with your mom before? ” Ying Yue wondered as she admired the beautiful view spreading across the horizon.
” Hmm. ” he calmly answered as they finally arrived under a small temple-like building: constructed to protect visitors from sun and rain.
A small stone table at the center of the ancient temple. His structure was still strong but it clearly showed signs of aging, still, it didn’t lessen the beauty of its architecture. Paired with the sumptuous view, this place was definitely a paradisiac spot that people would spend millions and millions of dollars to buy just to look at it every day.
” Did something happen to your mom? ” Ying Yue tenderly inquired.
It was obvious that something happened. Ying Yue could sense it and she could see it at the depth of his eyes. Since she was small, Ying Yue had always been really sensitive to other people’s emotion and why? Well…that’s a story for another time.
A long minute of silence passed, Ying Yue didn’t press him, respected his silence and waited for his answer.
” The man who was called my dad gambled a lot, gambled too much. When I was five, he disappeared because he couldn’t pay his debts so they fell onto my mom’s shoulders. She worked day and night just to feed me and partially pay back some of his debts…but when I was fifteen she was bedridden from overworking. That was when I joined my group, to win money for my mom’s hospital fee. Even though it was risky for me, I won the money and my mom’s health slowly got better but he came back. That trash came back to ask for money from my ill mom and she didn’t so he beat her. Her head hit the table and she needed to enter a mental hospital because of the physical shock which also affected her emotionally. When I came back, it was too late. He had taken the money I gave my mom and left the country once more. From that day on I swore to myself that I will hunt him down and kill him from my own hands… ” Jun Feng’s eyelids had dropped downwards, letting only a slight glim of darkness and pain pass by. He wasn’t telling his story in an angry tone nor a sad one: he was telling it in a completely cold and indifferent voice like he was entirely unrelated to the story.
Despite his nonchalance, Ying Yue’s eyes pierced through his defenses and found the vulnerability in his thick armor, which he built himself, and a complicated emotion filled her clear eyes.
” And that’s why I wanted to become the boss of the mafia, so I could get the power to hunt hi-”
Jun Feng didn’t have time to finish his statement before he was softly embraced by Ying Yue’s thin arms.
Sensing the softness on his chest, Jun Feng’s cold eyes flashed with surprise and his killer aura instantly died down, like he was scared that it would hurt the treasure in his arms.
” Thank you. ” Ying Yue gently whispered in an almost inaudible voice.
” Thank you for telling me. Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for letting me know you. Thank you for letting me share your pain with you. Thank you for being someone that needs me. Thank you for letting me see your scars. Thank you for being everything except perfect. Thank you for becoming a mafia boss. Thank you for asking me to be your girlfriend. Thank you for being you. ”
” You already made it this far, you did your best fighting alone for such a long time.” she tenderly said as a ball of emotion grew in the back of her throat.
Ying Yue was not really an emotional person but the big person in front of her with such a beautiful heart made her unwillingly let out a few silent tears.
” Y-you…” Jun Feng uttered in disbelief but he didn’t say anything more and also draped his arms around the girl who was quietly weeping in his chest.
He really didn’t know what to say, he barely met this girl yesterday and he already confessed his past. What was happening to him?
Whatsoever more, he didn’t know why but all the words she said made him strangely relieved. Compared to a lot of people who just looked at him with pity for his situation and contempt for being a mafia boss just to kill his parent, she didn’t say that or show any of that. Completely out of his expectations, she thanked him and told him that he did a good job…
All these years he has been alone, fighting, searching a way out of his dark past, his dark tunnel and nobody understood him. Why was everyone blaming him for not being able to forgive his dad? He wanted to, he really wanted to! When his mom had started to smile again he had truly thought to forget everything about his dad and just let it be but when he came back, he just couldn’t control his emotions…Everyone said that it is easy to forgive…it’s not.
Why did nobody realize, till this day, that he was also fighting?
More importantly, why did this little girl know?
The answer to that question, he didn’t need to know. The only thing he needed was this girl.
