Falling In Love With The Devil - 47 Am I a Monster...?
Reading the text from Ying Yue, Jun Feng’s eyebrow slightly raised and he felt a huge ball of worries nestle in his heart, ” What is happening? ”
…
BOOM! BOOM! BANG! BANG!
A sinister and sombre cacophony amplified on the battlefield each second.
Blood splattering everywhere.
Hellish flames flaring.
The deafening noises.
Surviving pleas.
Intoxicated breeze.
Deadly screams.
Flashing beams.
Cries of desperation.
Yells of suffering.
The systemic sound of triggers pulling.
The deadly modulation of the bombs.
A real slaughter took place.
Amidst the red spider lilies’ most beautiful art stood its leader, stood the killer, stood the grim reaper.
Beautiful yet surrounded with so much loneliness that even the flowers bled for her, the fane queen laughed with such vileness that it lost its charm and defiled its real meaning.
Ying Yue killed with bullets, with knives, with bombs, with her hands. Her eyes lost it’s usually cheerfulness and she let out a self-pity laugh.
She looked around her and only saw the carnage of what happens when she lets loose.
” Am I a monster…? ” Ying Yue pondered as she saw the corpses laying each in a pool of blood.
Ying Yue thought she already felt numb as she killed a lot of people. Ying Yue justified her actions by thinking she had a good reason to do what she does but each time she kills the weight becomes… lighter…
She thought she would feel a lot of guilt if she killed and promised herself to bury her victims in her heart but now…she couldn’t even remember one of their features. Was she a hypocrite?
Has she lost sight of herself while seeking her inner peace?
Each time Ying Yue kills, she becomes fiercer, crueller, more brutal, more aggressive.
She had immuned herself to guilt and became an empty killing machine, deprived of emotions and guilt.
Was she even human anymore?
Ying Yue can’t remember.
After an hour onto the battlefield, Ying Yue lost control of her body which automatically and viciously killed her enemies. Her consciousness acting like someone in the audience, watching the scene happen. For three hours, her other self continuously killed.
Ying Yue sighed and a single tear rolled her dirty cheek.
” Not again… ”
She stood there. The back straight, her head lifted upwards and her feet stepping into bloodied bodies. Among the surrounding corpses, the result of her slaughter, Ying Yue looked like a fallen queen.
Suddenly, a giant fire broke out and her surroundings turned into a burning oven. The scene looked like a phoenix’s tail blazed a trail of raging flames. The fiery red mixed with orange looked liked the falling sunset burning brightly, wanting to be forever engraved into people’s memories.
Watching the disastrous scene, Ying Yue clutched her suffocating heart and felt a stinging pain aching in her mind.
Flashback of unwanting scenes pounded in her brain.
Ying Yue immediately massaged her temples and tried to take a deep breath, ” Not those again…breathe…”
After a few seconds, Ying Yue finally snapped back to reality and came out of her thought bubble. She used her earpiece and called Jason, ” The operation is done. Tell everyone to retreat and ask Jessica to activate the last mine bombs. Afterward, call the cleanup team and tell them to make sure to capture at least three survivors, there should be more than three left looking at their extremely big number this time…Tend the wounded ones.”
” Yes! Good job, Boss Moon! Thank you for your great leadership and your hard work! ” Jason commented.
” Hmm. ” Ying Yue slightly smiled.
She then called the members of the squad one, ” Any death? ”
Direct question without any worries.
” A few. ” the team leader answered sadly.
Hearing this, Ying Yue sighed and told the leader to bring each dead member back before the mine bombs went off and to help bring wounded members back to treat their injuries. She instructed each team the same thing and called Xiao Ye, ” Prepare funerals. ”
” …Yes… ” Xiao Ye’s heart was heavy because of that sad new but still kept his composure and agreed.
Finally done with her duties, Ying Yue closed her deadly eyes for a second before reopening them, this time back to her normal ones.
Ying Yue pinched her cheeks, forcing herself to smile and thought, ” Let’s go home and eat some ice cream! ”
Ying Yue headed back to the headquarters and changed herself, taking a few showers there to get rid of the blood smell.
After taking care of a few details, Ying Yue finally remembered her guest and went to see them.
When Gen Lei and Liliane saw her, they both had an awkward expression and couldn’t really look her in the eyes.
The cheerful light in Ying Yue’s eyes dimmed a bit but it was as predicted…
” The staff showed you? ” Ying Yue asked with a smile.
“… Yes, they showed us the video of the fight taken by your drones…” Liliane clumsily answered.
” So? Was I cool? ” Ying Yue playfully asked.
” … ” Liliane and Gen Lei looked at each other, seeking the other’s help.
They both saw Ying Yue while she was fighting. She looked liked she was in her pure element. Dancing skillfully around with her guns and her knives. Each victim getting killed faster than the previous one. Blood covering the weak-looking body, letting only the pair of dark eyes shine through the darkness around her. Her cruel smile as she killed her preys was giving them chills.
Who was she really? So young but so corrupted…
Hearing no answer, Ying Yue laughed and said, ” I’ll take your silence as a huge ‘yes’! ”
” It’s getting very late now so do you want me to accompany you guys home? ” Ying Yue demanded.
“… No, it’s fine. Thank you for giving us your time even though you are very busy. ” Liliane smiled.
” Oh, ok! Take care then! ” Ying Yue didn’t push further and waved them goodbye as they left.
Seeing this scene, Mina who wanted to ask Ying Yue something stopped in her tracks, ” Moon, go back home, I’m sure you are tired. ”
” Hmm, I should do that! ” Ying Yue happily responded.
Ying Yue headed to their humongous garage and took the motorcycle with the most powerful engine. She drove away at a fulgurant speed, disappearing in the horizon.
Nobody knew where she was going…
