Fate/Heroes - Chapter 34
The event that Gray held in revealing his concept for a school that accommodated towards both humans and aliens was more or less a success in his eyes. He hadn’t gotten any definite answers from any of his invitees, as it was a big commitment to accept the twenty year olds offer without any forward planning whatsoever.
A school, one for all races would be the start of a new era of what it mean to both be “human” as well as a citizen of Earth. It would come under a lot of scrutiny of anti-alien groups and organizations, but would also receive the support of many aliens and pro-alien groups and organizations.
It was a double-edged sword so to speak, gain a lot of support, while making a more or less equal amount of enemies.
But unfortunately for Gray, the revealing of “Akashic Academy for the Gifted” wasn’t even the hardest thing he had to deal with tonight.
“So what are you? Are you an alien or a metahuman?”.
Sitting on his couch like he owned the place, Dick Grayson, Conner Kent, Wally West and the rest of the Team, including Kaldur and Barbara, also in formal attire, who had snuck in in a similar fashion just like Kid Flash and Artemis. Using Barbara’s grappling gun to hoist the pair up to the balcony.
To make sure that the defenses in the west side of the building didn’t kill anybody, Gray had disabled them for the night, so the various talismans and seals that were littered all over the penthouse were deactivated, until he put more prana into them.
Which would be nice to do right now considering that Cassie, Mareena and Kara had broken into his top shelf, and had flushed faces as the Daxamite and Aldebaran sat on the table in front of them, the bottles close to empty.
Leave it to a group of teenage superheroes who can’t get drunk off normal alcohol to steal and drink the person that hosted a party to support their people.
He rubbed the bridge between his brows and sighed heavily.
“No matter what universe I’m in. No matter what race they are. All teenagers are the same…..”.
Miss Martian and Artemis were taking care of the three drunk sixteen year olds, while Superboy, Robin and Kid Flash sat at Gray’s table, staring at the the Pseudo-Servant with narrowed gazes.
With his enhanced senses, Gray could hear the conversations the Team were having about him, revealing to the rest of the group his identity as Lancer, as well as the strange cool, black katana he had in his possession.
Any discussion about his Divinity was kept secret by the three, hoping for Gray to shed some more light on the subject in private before talking about it with the Team.
Gray had his own drink in his hands, although not able to give him the same buzz as the Daxamite liquor or Aldebaran rum.
Dick Grayson, the boy wonder who was obviously more used to such discussions spoke up first, hiding his eyes behind his sunglasses.
“So…. the newest millionaire playboy in town is masquerading as a superhero. Now where have I heard that before….”
Wally held back a chuckle and Superboy didn’t get the joke.
Gray smiled and leaned back in his chair.
“If you already know who I am than I think it’s only fair that I know who you are. At least your names, I can’t keep calling you just by “this one” or “that one”, can I?”.
Robin raised an eyebrow before receiving a telepathic communication from Miss Martian, the way she was looking at Gray was both in a scared manner as well as a curious one.
Gray’s smile grew even further.
“Sorry about that. It’s the voices”.
His tone was mocking and slightly condescending, and the female white Martian had the decency to look away with a embarrassed expression/
The stances of Superboy, Robin and Wally shifted slightly, allowing for a better movement if action by necessary.
“Don’t even think about it. Eleven teens that weren’t invited to this party attack a young man hoping to bridge the gap between humans and aliens? I’d rally the support of thousands, while you’d be classed as anti-aliens groupies. Considering that at least six members of your team are not completely human, it wouldn’t paint a pretty picture in the eyes of the masses”.
Superboy and Kid Flash frowned but didn’t let up their posture. Robin let out a deep exhale, before smiling and gesturing for the other two males to adopt a passive posture.
“Graham, was it? My friends and I want to know what your intentions are in this city. I understand that over the past few weeks you haven’t killed anyone, nor have you disfigured or crippled any criminals you’ve captured. Through this we can understand that your intentions aren’t driven through anger or through a dėsɨrė to lash out at others”.
Gray shrugged and took another sip.
“However, we, or the people we represent would like to know the nature of your abilities. This is not your Earth, so your powers are unfamiliar in nature and may cause you to be targeted by less than savory individuals. The sword, Rengoku, why don’t you use that instead of that spear?”.
Gray put down his drink and materialized his sword beside him. His black hair turned white and his eyes changed to a silvery white shade. The demeanor around the young man grew colder, grew sharper, more focused and more deadly.
However, the instant the familiar feeling entered the room….
“Cassie! Mareena! Look! It’s Gray’s massive sword!”.
With a speed that even Wally had trouble following, the Kryptonian dashed forward, using her super speed to run up behind Gray, trying to reach for Rengoku while resting her drunken body on his shoulder.
“Gimme! Gimme!”.
She scent of Aldebaran rum entered Gray’s nose as the sixteen year old pressed her body up against him, reaching out with her hand to try and grab the massive sword. Supporting herself by wrapping her free arm around Gray’s ċhėst so that she didn’t fall over from the intoxication.
The level of closeness the Kryptonian had with Gray surprised everyone in the room. Despite her drunken state, Kara had never been this liberal with anyone, even with Cassie and Mareena who she considered her best friends.
“Grraaaaayyy! Give me the sword! Please…. just for me?”.
The girl’s tone changed into a much more intimate one, causing Gray to roll his eyes and throw the sword over towards Mareena and Cassie, making a mental note to change the location of his alcohol, and put seals over said location.
Waiting for the Kryptonian to let go before continuing his conversation with the boy wonder, Gray waited for several seconds before turning his head slightly to look down at what the last daughter of Krypton was doing.
Said last daughter of Krypton was floating mid-air white nuzzling her head into Gray’s neck. A content smile could be seen on her face.
“Hmm, so warm….”.
Several cracks appeared on the glass that gray was currently holding, and the Pseudo-Servant was giving a grateful look to Miss Martian, who guided the floating girl back over towards the sleeping figures of Cassie and Mareena.
Turning his gaze back towards the three male members of the Team, with Kaldur coming out of the bathroom, the dark skinned Atalantean noticed the envious look on Wally’s face, and then turned to Gray and saw the nonchalant expression on the twenty year olds face.
“Dude. Are you gay?”.
The glass in Gray’s hand shattered, sending pieces of shattered glass all over the table.
“No, I just don’t want to go to prison”.
