Fate/Heroes - Chapter 64
The faint mist generated from the Servant summoning vanished and all three Servants summoned could be seen clearly. The gazes of the Justice League and the Team turned to Hawkgirl first as her Servant was the closest to them.
“Saber. From now on I shall deem you my lord and serve you fittingly. —-even my very life is now subject to your discretion.
A sharp looking old man with naturally narrowed eyes knelt in front of Shayera and placed both his swords at the Thanagarians feet, much to her surprise.
He had grey hair on his head and a small grey goatee on his chin. He was wearing a tradition samurai’s armor which was beautifully crafted. The black was the main coloring of the armor, with red and gold highlights which all screamed a seasoned warrior. The two blades at Shayera’s feet also gave off a sharp aura, even if they were just sitting there on the floor.
Hawkgirl couldn’t help but take off her helmet, letting her beautiful orange locks flow free as she stared down at this elderly gentleman. If it wasn’t for the armor and the swords, their was nothing she could see that indicated that this man was a killer.
He mouth subconsciously moved on her own.
“My name is Shayera. I am your Master”.
The League watched as this elderly man nodded before sheathing his swords and fastening them back on his belt. He stood directly behind Shayera, a place were he could strike at the woman, but also a position of respect for his Master.
“Hehehehe…..”.
The smoke cleared further and Batman’s figure could be seen clearly. The Dark Knight had an unpleasant expression on his face as he gazed at the other elderly gentlemen in front of him. A look of suspicion was evident on his face.
The second elderly man gave a slight bow, placing one hand on his ċhėst and another behind his back, a small marred his face as he spoke.
“I am Servant Archer. As there are other Servants present Master I will refrain on speaking my True Name. I humbly accept your summons…..”.
The elderly man’s smile grew wider as he looked at the Dark Knight, who frowned as he looked at his Servant.
Archer spoke with a thick British accent indicating his origins. He could’ve been faking it, however with the catalyst Gray had provided him, their was only two possible Heroic Spirits Batman could’ve summoned if he used “A Study in Scarlet” as a catalyst….
“…. Your not him are you? Your not Holmes”.
Archer smiled with his eyes and neither confirmed nor denied the accusation. The Servant merely glanced at Saber before turning towards the fading mist to see Gray’s figure, standing beside a beautiful purple haired woman, her eyes more scarlet than blood itself….
Gray’s Servant yawned cutely, covering her mouth with her dainty looking fingers. The sheer presence of this woman caused all eyes to widen and focus on her, even if Saber and Archer were looking at her more warily rather than being entranced by her beauty.
She wore a form fitting purplish white dress that emphasized her ċhėst above all else. Her long legs crept through the slits in the strange looking dress, and her lazy, yet powerful aura made her unmistakably threatening.
The same presence that Diana gave off was coming off this equally beautiful woman. Although the quality and quantity of power was much, much stronger.
She gave Gray a once over before smiling,
“…My, quite a young one. You have called for me, the one who reigns over the ice and snow of death, the Divine Spirit, Caster. I am the bride of the old gods of Northern Europe, the Lostbelt Servant who was once a queen…”.
Caster took a step back much to the surprise of the other people on the roof, before giving Gray another once over.
“My Master…. is quite the existence are you not?”.
Gray ignored Casters words and looked towards Saber and Archer who also looked at the Pseudo-Servant queerly, before looking at the Servants with a stern expression. His face looked completely serious as he spoke.
“You have been summoned to compete in a Great Holy Grail War. I’m sure the Grail has already filled you in on the details, but we are currently four Servants short of a full team. The other Masters of White must be near, although they may not be able to sense their potential….”.
Archer adjusted his glasses with a smile before looking at Gray from head to toe. He nodded his head several times as his smile grew wider and wider with every passing moment.
Saber also peered at Gray, his right hand on the hilt of his sword and his left on the sheath. Hawkgirl looked at the elderly man beside her and shook her head, and the Saber Servant instantly stopped his aggressive posturing.
Archer spoke up, seeing that Saber followed his Masters orders.
“Why should we follow a Pseudo-Servant such as yourself? A Fake, nothing more than an imitation in the eyes of-“.
A massive black odachi appeared in Gray’s hands and the tip of said Noble Phantasm brushed up against Archer’s neck. The elderly Servants stopped his words then and there as he felt cold metal touch his even colder skin.
Gray’s eyes turned silvery-white as he gazed at Archer. His eyes narrowed as he looked at the Emperor of the Criminal World. He was more dangerous than Batman by far, although the Dark Knight had such a problematic Servant, Gray was more than sure he would have to spend more time looking after Archer, than himself.
Gray let Rengoku vanish as he turned to the three Servants in front of him.
“My power doesn’t need to be questioned. But let me make one thing clear, I can kill you all before you get a chance to even try and go against your Masters. The type of Servant I am doesn’t matter, my strength is the only thing that you need remember….”.
Saber remained steadfast behind Shayera, neither disagreeing or agreeing with Gray’s words. Archer simply smiled as he gazed into Gray’s eyes, and Caster showed an expressionless face as her eyes darted from Gray’s face to the Command Seals on his hand.
The Pseudo-Servant just looked at the rest of the League before leaving. He wanted to speak with Diana some more but the looks on Batman’s face indicated that he really wanted to leave Gray’s penthouse, taking the rest of the superheroes with him.
Caster set up a Bounded Field many times stronger than what Gray could ever create, and after the League members left, then he could really focus on the task at hand….
Figuring out the best way to kill Saber, or at the very least, finding out who Saber’s Master really is…..
