Fate Online: Shadow - Chapter 489: Reinforcements, Main Quest?
Ten minutes later, three ships donning the Navy’s flag set sailed from the port and towards the ship in the distance.
The three ships are full of players and NPCs alike. The former group is easy to recognize since everybody are feeling relaxed just looking at the huge smiles on their faces while the latter group wears grave expressions like they were meeting their mother-in-law for the first time.
“We finally landed on a huge quest! I thought we’d have to wait for a while since it’s not easy to travel across the Forest of Despair”
“Yeah, even the easiest option is expensive. I can’t afford 50 Gold for a single fare you know. Making money is hard for us casual players”
“I’d love to join one of the nine guilds. It would be easier to level up and the benefits that normal members receive are tremendous!”
“I think it’s better to join the Flame Rose Guild. They are still small in numbers, but their members are rich and well experienced” This material is rooted in n0vlbin★
“But their requirements are almost as rigorous as the nine guilds. You need to at least reach the minimum Level 30 before you can even think of sending your application to them. So joining them is not as easy as you make it sound”
“Really? Damn!”
“Yeah, my friend and I tried to join them in the past but we got rejected outright”
The players on the three ships appear to be very relaxed as they even talk about mundane things, like their dog learning a new trick or their cat getting pregnant.
“Anyway, do you guys have any clue why the navy is going out of their way to help that ship being attacked by a monster? The Quest just said <Subjication and Rescue>”
“No idea, does anyone have a telescope so we can see the ship’s flag?”
One of the players asked around, but the other players just looked at each other and shook their heads.
“Telescopes are expensive, it would be great if we have someone among us that has the Sailor Class. I heard it comes for free”
“Guys! It’s the Flame Rose Guild! It’s actually them!”
One player was just lamenting how expensive telescopes are when a player armed with a bow suddenly yelled and it quickly garnered the attention of the others to him.
“Is he using [Hawk Eyes]? Just how high is it level that he’s able to see it from this distance?” one of the players said in amazement since there’s still a considerable distance between them and the ship in the distance.
“Are you using [Hawk Eyes]? What level is it that you’re able to see that far? What? I’m just curious”
A healer couldn’t help but ask out of curiosity, but one of her companions nudged her as it is inappropriate to ask these kinds of personal questions especially if they are not familiar with each other.
“[Hawk Eyes]? I didn’t use it. I was using the telescope I got a few days ago just now, but I was so engrossed watching what was happening that I forgot to mention it when you were discussing about telescopes earlier” the player replied while scratching the back of his head, a little embarrassed.
‘He got? He didn’t buy it?’ some of the perceptive players managed to notice something from how the player delivered his words, while the rest didn’t even notice the smell of a possible hidden quest as it just flew over their heads.
“Damn, there’s actually a rich kid among us, wahahaha!”
“Anyway, it’s clear now that the mission is to rescue the Flame Rose Guild from their predicament. I heard that they suddenly departed from the East Continent from out of nowhere. I didn’t expect that they would be attacked by a swarm of sea monsters, did they trigger a hidden scenario or probably the legendary Main Quest?” one of them spoke his thoughts and the eyes of the surrounding players shined and their emotions stirred when they heard the Main Quest being mentioned.
Main Story, most commonly known as just Main Quest, ever since the launch of the game, this particular quest hasn’t been triggered by anyone and every seasoned player knows that in every game, there is always a Main Quest, and with it, there are bountiful rewards.
But so far, it has only been a rumor, the players even thought that the Undead Calamity would be a prerequisite to the Main Quest, but it just turned out to be just an Epic Grade Subjication Quest despite how wide scale it was.
“It’s probably just at the level of the Undead Calamity, so don’t get your hopes up”
“Even if that is the case, it would still be great news for us! We’ll be one of the first players to join!”
Meanwhile, back at the ship.
“Guild Leader, the Navy! There are three navy ships heading our way!”
The players were already getting tired as their Stamina was almost reaching rock bottom and if wasn’t because they were fighting in rotations, then they wouldn’t have been able to come this far.
“R-reinforcements! Finally!”
“Hold the line! Goddamit, how long till the spell is ready, Solitary Tempest?! The ship wouldn’t be able to hold on any longer!”
“Everyone, hold on till the navy gets here! We’re already at the last stretch, make your potions count! Don’t die!”
Minerva’s yell was almost drowned by the cheers of her guild members, followed by Maverick immediately yelling at them in an almost reprimanding tone since losing their focus before the matters at hand would prove to be fatal. The players also showed experience as they immediately calmed themselves, but it wasn’t enough to hide their increased morale, and like they were injected with stimulants, they became more energetic as the battle continued!
Rattle! Rattle! Rattle!
The huge sea monster kept ramming the ship, making it hard for the players to properly fight the Sea Murlocs as they also had to continuously keep their balance.
“Hey fish fillet, over here!” Maverick yelled as he activated [Taunt] by tapping his shield with his sword.
