Father, I Won’t Do Anything - Chapter 13
‘I only have one chance.’
She can’t fail.
Jayna narrowly opened her eyes and checked her body once more. She moves little by little, so that Moben won’t notice-
“Hu-eum, Hyuk, Heo-eok….”
And when the tired Moben stumbled and lost his balance.
Jayna hit Moben’s ankle with her tail.
Pook!
And the moment he lost his balance and fell forward, she struck Moben’s face, which had entered the distance that she can reach.
Kwaang!
His face struck the wall with a loud bang and a great tremor. Moben passed out due to the impact.
Jayna, who was tied tightly, swung her tail with all her might, lost her balance and fell aside.
Kwaang!
It was very difficult to return back a human body part into its original state, except for the tail that humans did not have.
It was fortunate that Moben didn’t care about the tailbone as he tied her body.
‘It’s over.’
Jayna confirmed the fallen Moben again and again. In that state, Moben wouldn’t be able to wake up for a while. She had to run away.
‘I have to run away….’
But…
‘It hurts so much…’
The reason she was able to withstand so far even through the excruciating pain is because of her mental power. And the belief that no one will save her and that she has only herself to rely on which gave her the strength to fight back. But as Moben collapsed and the tension dissipate, she couldn’t keep her eyes open anymore.
Her vision blurred and turned black. Jayna was knocked out once again.
***
Jayna didn’t arrive in the restaurant even when lunchtime was over.
Michael swears in a harsh voice that doesn’t match his gorgeous and elegant face.
“Ah, I don’t have an appetite.”
Michael shook his leg and stabbed the raw vegetables without dressing.
He was glancing at the food while pretending to focused on eating, but his gaze was directed all the way toward the entrance.
“Old lady you didn’t eat her, did you?” (Michael)
“I’ll gain nothing in eating her.” (Hilvenzia)
The corners of her mouth draw a beautiful arc. Hilvenzia, who talks back to Michael, looked no different than usual.
But she was in a dispirited mood, as much as Michael is, who was so insincere about his food.
Somehow, a cold air hangs around them.
In the meantime, a wizard of the tower gulped down his saliva and approached them with trembling steps.
“Ah, Michael-nim, Hilvenzia-nim…”
Despite someone calling him, Michael did not even turn around, with his chin still on the table. He (The Magician) was treated like an invisible man.
When the wizard was embarrassed and at loss on what to do, Hilvenzia laughed and said,
“Oh, don’t be scared. What’s going on?”
He accepted Hilvenzia response as a way to continue what he was going to say, but Hilvenzia wasn’t an easy person to deal with too. She may be smiling to everyone, but they also often hear remarks after that smile: I needed an object of study, and you seem good enough. And then, take them away to be experimented immediately.
“Ah that’s right; my colleague was found lying on the second aisle in the library…”
The sorcerer opened his mouth with a twitch. But Michael still had a sour look on his face.
“I- I’m sorry. I’m going to stop talking now…”
The sorcerer stepped back, perhaps thinking he shouldn’t have told them about it.
However, the words given as an excuse were sharply embedded in the ears of the two.
“W-well, it’s just that t-the kid you both cared about was found with that colleague of mine.”
Teok!
When the story of Jayna came out, Michael immediately blocked the front of the wizard with magic to stop him from leaving.
“Huaaahk?”
The wizard was startled to find that an invisible wall has erected before him.
Michael laughed and asked back. A sinister energy flowed out of his handsome face.
“You have to finish what you say. What happened to the kid?”
“Sh-she was unconscious and w-was tied with restraining magi—”
Michael and Hilvenzia rose up from their seats even before the wizard finished.
Restraining magic?
Is that why she didn’t show up at the restaurant?
The two quickly moved to the place the wizard said.
They could tell right away where to head without asking: To the second aisle.
“What the hell happened inside the tower? Why haven’t you solved the restraining magic?” (Wizard1)
“The level was so high that even the releasing magic master, Gejes, couldn’t solve it and fail.” (Wizard2)
“But why was this little kid lying here all by herself?” (Wizard1)
“There used to be another one lying next to him, but he just disappeared, saying he was fine.” (Wizard3)
Male and female wizards are talking about Jayna, like it was some kind of an interesting sight to them.
Michael said with a bloody expression he had never shown to anyone.
“What are you all doing here?”
Even though it was a quiet, low-pitched voice, it could never be ignored by anyone.
All the people in the place were chilled to death by Michael’s appearance.
Roughly pushing, Michael stepped into the circle.
Then he stopped abruptly.
“……..”
Jayna had bruises all over her body, as if she was struck with a whip. Maybe the restraining magic was the cause of it.
Marks of a strong binding chain.
‘Who in the hell in this tower will do this?’
No matter how many times Jayna says that she doesn’t have a guardian, she couldn’t have cause trouble inside the tower.
And just in case, he even gave the little kid a word of warning.
-“Dragon is a valuable ingredient. However, the Dragon clan is strong, so they usually aim at young dragons that have not awakened yet. So Dragon clan protects the young dragon until it awakens, but you don’t have a protector right now?”
-“I can’t help it, I just have to bear with it. Thank you for your concern.”
-“Well, don’t worry no one is going to cause trouble in the tower without the permission of the Towerlord.”
Because he’s aware where Jayna is.
-“You’re not a full member of the tower. Even if you suddenly disappear one day, I can’t officially find you. Towerlord hates trouble, that’s why everyone is refraining in causing one. But…”
It was an advice because he knew so well how dangerous this place is for her, but in the end he still couldn’t do anything until Jayna ended up in this state.
Michael gritted his teeth. As the bright light began to circulate in his eyes, magic began to fluctuate around him.
The faces of the wizards around Michael turned white.
At this moment there was only one person who could stop Michael…
“Calm down. It’s more urgent to treat Jayna now.”
It was Hilvenzia.
“First of all, release the restraining magic since this isn’t my specialty.”
The two were distracted by Jayna that is lying in front of them , and did not realize it but it was the first time that Hilvenzia, who had a strong pride, said that she could not do something in front of Michael.
“What kind of … like this…”
Michael approached Jayna and knelt down. Then reach out and remove the magic.
Whoo-woo-ooh!
The magical power that was strongly entangled has reacted to the new owner, unlike its original command.
The magical powers that were forming the restraining magic at Michael’s fingertips began to scatter in the air one by one.
“Oh, oh, ·, ·, ·.”
The white mana was embodied in the air and sparkled. It was rare for such a strong mana to be materialized, so low exclamations spread among wizards.
He would normally be proud of his abilities, but Michael was still annoyed even now.
Magic comes into his eyes but he only saw the child lying in front of him.
Although he would never have done it normally, but Michael was also changing little by little without even realizing it while staying with Jayna.
“You must have been really well-prepared. What’s the condition of the child? (Hilvenzia)
Michael gently glanced at Jayna.
Full of wounds, a child who didn’t and couldn’t asked for anyone’s help.
He quietly closed his eyes and opened them with a calm disposition.
He said things that held weight and yet he couldn’t reciprocate the responsibility that it holds.
But, there was someone more responsible than him.
Michael, who was kneeling in front of Jayna, got up from his kneeling position.
“Ask for the treatment of the little kid.” (Michael)
“Where are you going?” (Hilvenzia)
Michael’s mouth twisted.
“To her father.”
He knew best that Diamide wasn’t a person who doesn’t recognize blood relationship.
His father was said to have a very good relationship with Diamide.
The age gap is quite wide, but they are still fond of each other.
However he didn’t even come to his brother’s funeral…
A creature without blood nor tears.
That was the current state of the Lord of the tower, Diamide.
He also regarded Diamide not as his uncle, but only as the Towerlord.
He (Diamide) was a man that he (Michael) had no contact except for a few times when he was young that he couldn’t recall anymore, so it was impossible for him to have any sign of affection for his own flesh and blood.
The reason he got to stay at the tower where he could develop his abilities, was not because of their blood ties, but because he had proved himself worthy with his skills.
Michael toned down his magical power and quickly ran to Diamide’s study.
“Towerlord.”
“What’s going on?”
“Your daughter was found lying down in the Library. I think the other wizard knew she was a dragon and it was all planned.”
However, however…. No matter what, nephew and daughter are different.
Jayna’s eyes look just like those of Diamide.
Perhaps Diamide is trying to ignore the attraction of the blood, because of his resentment towards the dragon, Bezriche.
‘No matter how hard you try, if you hear that your child has fallen, I know your attitude will change.’
He shouldn’t say this, but it would be nice if he finally recognized Jayna as her daughter because of this incident.
“So?” (Diamide)
“What?” (Michael)
“Why does it matter to me whether that dragon dies or not?”
But this time again, Diamide’s reaction exceeds Michael’s expectations.
“The dragon race is an arrogant race that does not treat humans as creatures with equal standing. If that dragon is injured.. Yes, it would be better if it to die like this.”
Clench, His(Michael) hands are getting tighter.
Diamide said, penetrating Michael’s feelings.
“Didn’t I say to you Michael Bellapanian. Don’t be swayed by your emotions.”
Does that mean it doesn’t matter to him if the kid gets hurt or not?
How can he not show a single expression in his face?
‘Even if you don’t believe it, you’ve been told it’s your daughter.’
Michael dropped his head as the cold words struck him.
