Father, I Won’t Do Anything - Chapter 2
No one came into the drawing room for hours.
A long time had already passed by, but Jayna, who was still wondering how to spend the rest of her life, didn’t notice how long has it been since she came there.
‘Since it’s the tower, at least I won’t starve, right? There will be a lot of books available for reading too…’
She thought maybe it would be better for her to live freely while being neglected on the tower, rather than wandering among her relatives who only harassed her.
“I’m going to have to pay a big price for enjoying my time.”
Bang-
While Jayna was organizing her thoughts, breaking the silence in the drawing-room, a cool, dry voice came out.
“Is it this one, who called herself my daughter?”
Standing in front of me was a figure with big, sturdy but slender body wearing a loose hood, and someone who had a long black hair.
Jayna felt the strong and heavy presence of the man in front of her. The pressure was so heavy, that for a moment she thought she couldn’t breathe.
He had a boring look, but just making eye contact seemed to bring goosebumps all over her body.
The Tower Lord Diamide Bellaphanian.
It was the appearance of her father.
The young man who was following Diamide, said, reading a letter:
“The dead dragon, Bezriche, said that the lord of the tower was the father of this child. Of course, this was the claim of the Balaur*.”
*(Balaur- Dragon race)
“Bezriche.”
An unknown color turned into Diamide’s eyes. The corner of his mouth rose coolly.
It was then that Diamide, who had been backing away all the time, took steps forward.
“Yes, she definitely resembles her mother.”
He approached and looked down at Jayna as if he was inspecting her.
“Also, It looks like she isn’t part of neither the clan of Dark Night nor the clan of Changcheon*.”
T/l: *(Changcheon/창천= Heaven)
As the distance got closer, the difference in size between the two became more pronounced, and the feeling of pressure from him became more intense.
“I understand why the dragons are trying to kill her, she is a symbol of negation. The fact that her eye color is not black is evidence that she have other blood mixed.”
Secrets unknown to humans came from the mouth of Diamide one after another.
First was that the dragon sect was divided into several clans. And the fact that mixed-blooded dragons have different eye colors was also unknown to the outside world.
Jayna was able to realize that the man in front of her, was really her mother’s lover. All of the things he mentioned, were something that you would never know unless you heard them directly from a dragon’s mouth.
Just like his opponent, Diamide’s gaze was sharply stuck in Jayna’s face.
‘….Why can’t I take my eyes off those eyes?’ (Jayna)
The eye contact last a bit longer.
‘I think our eyes are similar.’
It lasted for a long time. And for a moment, she was able to feel they were identical which she wouldn’t care about, if Jayna hadn’t heard of her father beforehand.
A blue color eye that was comparable to high-purity sapphire.
Was Diamide thinking the same?
A familiar word came from his mouth.
“Her eyes are Blue…”
But Jayna soon realized that it was her mistake
“But that doesn’t imply that she is my daughter.”
A sense of closeness that Jayna felt at that moment was immediately cut off by Diamide’s cold words. His voice had no regrets.
The boy standing behind, looked alternately at Jayna and Diamide with bewildered expression, as if he didn’t except such a reaction.
“I agree she’s her daughter because she gave birth to her herself, but she could also be a daughter she had with another human.”
He must have counted the stars in the night sky together like other lovers, and he must have laughed while whispering love.
But even though he knew Jayna was before him, and knowing that she could be his lover’s daughter to another man, his voice was surprisingly calm.
A sleek jawline, distinct nose bridge, long inner eyebrows and those blue eyes, jeweled with his perfect features.
His appearance was like a sculpture of an angel. It was very unrealistic…
But what was even more strange to Jayna was his feelings. She was unable to find any emotions in those eyes.
To the extent that she thought, for Diamide, other people seems to be more insignificant and unnecessary existence than an ant.
‘Well he was person who let his daughter die.’
He, who had the power to bring the emperor to his knees and destroy the empire if he wanted to, neglected his daughter and turned away. Even though he could have saved that slender life.
The boy, who was watching them from behind with his mouth closed, carefully opened his mouth.
“I heard that the dragon was the lover of the Tower Lord. Yet you are suspicious that she had a child with another man?” (Michael)
“Is there anything absolute in this world?” (Diamide)
Subsequently, a contemptuous glance fell upon Jayna.
At that moment, Jayna shuddered with a chill in her back.
“She could be her child with another human man.”(Diamide)
“Well, it was ten years ago when you had left to kill the Evil King… If she were the daughter of the Tower Lord, she would be about ten years old, but she looks younger than that. Maybe the Dragon Family was trying to deceive you by the age of one or two.”
Jayna lowered her eyes to see her dry wrist.
Due to her slow growth, she definitely looked younger than her peers.
“Even if she’s 10 years old, is there any guarantee that she’s my child?”
The boy nodded his head at Diamide’s cold words.
“Surely, except for the hair and eyes, there’s no other place resembling the Tower Lord.”
“Her (Bezriche) hair was black, too.”
“Ah, as you said it was also a characteristic of the dragons. Then it is even more difficult to believe. Recently, it was said that the Balaur’s situation was not good…” (Michael)
Diamide felt that the boy was happy about something, but in a second he returned to his original position and asked Diamide.
“Shall I instruct the Wizards of the Tower to study paternity test magic? It seems to be a trick of the Balaur, but it may be the daughter of the Tower Lord.” (Michael)
“You don’t have to.” (Diamide)
“Yes?” (Michael)
“Originally, dragons aren’t serious against humans.” (Diamide)
Diamide’s darkened eyes regained its original dullness. He came back and said with a careless face.
“So, there is no need to be serious here either.” (Diamide)
“I don’t know what expectations you have for me, but it’s ridiculous.” (Diamide)
It was his first words thrown directly at Jayna.
Diamide turned away from Jayna and left quietly.
It was the first time in her life, she met her father.
The meeting with Diamide Bellaphanian ended instantly.
****
“Wow. I already expected this to happen.”
As Diamide left the room, the boy behind him shrugged. Unlike when Diamide was present, it was a confident voice.
“It’s always my job to clean up. It’s really annoying.”
The boy, who changed his attitude as if flipping a sheet of paper, quickly sat in front of Jayna without hesitation.
“The lord of the tower went out without saying anything. What do I do with you now? Huh?”
As the boy tilted his face slightly, his golden hair that was similar to the color of the sun was like a spring flower in full bloom.
His eyes contrasted the bright colors of his hair and it was same color as hers.
“Tell me. Hey. Ashrid?”
Jayna opened her mouth for the first time when he called her.
“That name is not my real name. My relatives call me like that because my real name smells like a human being. I want to be called ‘Jayna,’ the name given to me by my mother.”
Perhaps her relatives misrepresented her name as ‘Ashrid’ rather than ‘Jayna’ to the tower wizards.
“Two names? Dirty picky, yeah. By the way, this is an order to me to take care of the left matter. Why would I call you that, kid?”
Michael laughed softly, bending his painted eyes.
“Looking at the letter, you said that your mother passed away early? Then I would have expected a lot more that you would come to see your father, but how does it feel like after seeing that the father you were longing to see welcomed you cold heartedly?”
After he finished speaking, Michael once again covered his mouth with a big laugh.
“But there’s nothing you can do. You are weak and useless.”
Michael’s eyes and corners of his mouth had a deep feeling of joy that he couldn’t hide.
“In the end, you couldn’t even say a word to the Tower Lord? But you did a good job. If you had pretended to open your mouth, you would have had your throat cut off in no time.”
The boy in front of his eyes seemed to be young, but already had a dizzying beauty.
His bright laughter was enough to soften anyone’s alertness, but Jayna raised hers instead.
It was because she already knew that his character was not great contradicting his beautiful appearance.
‘Michael Bellaphanian.’
In The Sword of Revenge, he was the disciple and nephew of the final boss, Diamide, who contributed the most to his evil deeds.
It was described in the novel that he was so obsessed with achieving great research results after losing his parents, that he became twisted.
‘He’s 18 this year. I guess he’s my older cousin now.’
Ten years after the protagonist’s mother died, he grew up to be a great villain, but it was much later. Now he wasn’t more or less than just a wizard belonging to the tower.
‘But even if he hasn’t done much evil yet, I knew he was not a good person.’
Jayna, who was listening to him, said in a soft voice to Michael.
“I know.”
Then, she drank in the cup of tea that was no longer steaming.
“……..?”
A single word,
Compared to Michael who continued to speak without break, it was a short reply.
It was because she had nothing else to say.
