Father, I Won’t Do Anything - Chapter 5
After eating, Jayna moved alone to another place this time.
She headed to the Tower’s library. She spouted low admiration as she walked down the hall.
‘Amazing. It’s not a tower for nothing.’
The restaurant was also luxurious and great, but the library was different. It was definitely in the basement, but the inner garden was in the same location, so it didn’t feel stuffy at all.
Natural light came in through the wide window, illuminating the library.
There was a green pond beyond the bushes. The sight of the warm light shimmering on the waves was invincible but beautiful.
“Sigh.”
She heard a few people sighing out of the library while taking a rest.
“Now, it’s time for research submissions. If you don’t pass, you’ll be kicked out of the Tower. Is there any good material?”
“I don’t think I’ll get anything good even if I go through all the library books. I’m sure all the other wizards did it.”
“There’s no way a strange thing that’s never been studied would fall from the sky, right?”
It was called the ‘research submission period’. She had read it in <The Sword of Revenge>. It was said that there was always an accident at this time, because it was the most sensitive time for the magicians of the tower.
‘That’s why it’s crowded.’
At this time, the library was full of magicians. And, it seemed that she was the only one visiting for reading.
It would be dangerous if realized that she was a dragon, but she wasn’t worried about it because no one could have read the letter sent to the tower lord unless they were close to him.
When she opened the door of the library, there was a quiet, desolate air all the way down the hall. The books in the rounded bookcase were piled up to the ceiling, surrounding the library. And wizards were sitting reading books at each seat.
‘But how do you pull out those books that are so high up there?’
It was when Jayna was looking up at the book in front of the bookshelf. A light of fire, which was flying softly in the library, appeared in front of Jayna, and it took out the book she was looking up.
Jayna’s eyes shone brightly.
‘It’s really not a tower for no reason.’
Jayna bowed her head to the light with gratitude. Then the light blinked a few times and then faded away.
‘I’ll use it again.’
Jayna soon found a soft sofa and buried herself deeply to it. Because of her small size, her legs were raised, but the sofa soon became smaller to match Jayna’s body.
She became more comfortable.
Naturally, she thought of her previous life. Reading was Jayna’s long hobby that had been going on since her previous life.
‘But the school library was poor and there was no library around her house. It would have been nice if there was a library like this nearby at that time.’
Sssssh.
T/l: The sound made when she opened the book.
When she opened the book, she noticed a mixture of ordinary characters and magical characters. Jayna, who did not know the magic text, closed the book and stood up and began to choose another book.
There were so many books that if there was a problem in one, she could pick another book. She rather liked the fact that there were so many options that it was difficult to choose.
“Hi.”
It was when Jayna pulled out a thin book and was about to sit on the couch,
“What’s in your hand is a book that doesn’t have magic texts, but it’s still a pretty difficult book. Are there any troubles in your reading?”
The man who approached her said with a smile that looked good to people.
Jayna turned her gaze to the book and asked.
“Who are you?”
“Oh, I’m a Tower’s wizard. I am not a suspicious person. It’s just that seeing you, a kid alone bothers me….”
“Thank you for your concern. But I’m fine. You don’t have to mind.” Jayna said politely.
“But you’re a child. Is there anything I can help you with?”
“What’s your name? My name is Jayna.”
“I am called Moben.”
When she heard that, there was no one who came to her mind. She guessed that maybe he was not a person who was heavily mentioned in “The Sword of Revenge.” He seemed to be one of the ordinary wizards of the tower.
When Jayna just looked up silently after hearing his name, Moben said, scratching his head as if he was embarrassed.
“It’s a research period these days, so it’s not good to be alone in this kind of place because there are a lot of sensitive wizards. It looks normal, but it’s a pretty dangerous place.”
Certainly, it would seem strange to see a child alone in the tower. Tower was a place where even your own children cannot be brought.
It was because Jayna wasn’t aware of this because no one told her about it while eating in the restaurant before.
The man in front of him seemed to be worried that a child might be wandering alone in the tower.
‘I don’t need a guardian. I can’t even say that the Tower lord is my father.’
It was not good to mention his (Diamide’s) name recklessly when she was about to be kicked out rather than recognized by him.
She could try to intimidate these wizards with Diamide’s name, but she could also catch his attention and get on his nerves while doing so.
“How did you know I came to the library alone?”
Jayna said it without much thought, but Moben turned his head, shivering for a moment, as if he was stabbed with something.
“Oh, I saw you at the restaurant with Michael-nim earlier. But now you’re not here with Michael-nim*.”
T/l: *(님 (nim) Literal meaning: “Mr./Miss/Mrs.”)
At that moment, what Michael said earlier passed through Jayna’s head.
-“Dragon is a valuable ingredient. However, the Dragon clan is strong, so they usually aim at young dragons who have not awakened yet. So Dragon clan protects the young dragon until it awakens, but you don’t have a protector right now?”
He wouldn’t have guessed that she is a dragon just by seeing her ate a little too much in the restaurant, right?
Information about the Balaur was shrouded in secrecy and cannot be known unless the person concerned itself talks about it.
Moreover, it was unlikely that he would have heard my conversation with Michael because he (Michael) used soundproofing magic while sitting in the corner.
‘But what’s this nasty feeling?’
“…..I see.”
“Shall I take you to Michael-nim? What is your relationship with him?”
Her instincts, which had been constantly honed from her previous life, whispered.
You are in danger now…
“……”
A moment of silence ocurred.
In the meantime, Jayna organized her thoughts and replied with a fictitious laughter. Innocently, with a childlike work that adults can think of.
“It’s okay. Brother Michael said he was busy right now.”
“Br–brother?”
Jayna deliberately raised her voice.
“Yes! Of course he is older than me, so he is my brother.”
“No, that’s not what I mean.”
“You don’t even know that, Mister. You are a wizard of the tower, but not smart!”
“Hey. But I’m not a Mister*… Hm hmm. Yeah, you must be very close. There is no one in the tower who can call him so comfortably…….”
T/l: *(Ahjussi(아저씨)Mister- is used to call a man who is older than you. However, even though a person you talk to is older than you, if he is not over middle age(over 40s) or too young, he could be offended by being called ‘아저씨’.)
“Hey, it’s a little noisy.” (Other wizards)
It was worth the noise.
When a stinging gaze was hitting here and there, Moben didn’t know what to do.
“That’s it. I’m sorry. I’ll be right out. Let’s get out of here. Maybe we were too loud.”
But Jayna took no action at his words.
Moben said it again as if he was frustrated.
“Let’s go out together?”
However, Jayna only looked at the book with her expressionless face down.
It was completely different from her innocent look before.
“You didn’t hear me… Hmm.”
Moben, who couldn’t ask more or forcibly take her out because of her surrounding gaze, approached Jayna and asked with his voice lowered.
“So what exactly is your relationship with Michael-nim?”
“……”
However, Jayna just kept her mouth shut with her gaze at the book, and did not answer any more.
He lingered in his seat as if he hadn’t given up, but soon left the library.
Jayna was lost in thought as she looked quietly at his distancing back.
‘Am I too sensitive?’
Moben might have been just worried about her. He could have been just so wary that he couldn’t leave her alone by herself.
But on the other side, it was also quite feasible.
‘There….’
It won’t stop the dragon from trying to kill her, but it might be convenient to built a small wall around herself to adapt quickly here.
But if she were to get Moben’s favor, it might have played that role.
But soon Jayna shook her head. It was already in the past. She didn’t regret it nor feel sorry for it.
She’s been living alone like this so far. But still have never been rewarded faith and affection.
It was better to let go of expectations than to expect.
That was why Jayna was not determined to survive in this world.
***
Jayna stayed in the library for a long time and came outside when she thought Moben might have gone already.
As it got dark, the mana lights were already on in the hallways, illuminating like sunlight.
“I have been commanded by Michael to take you to the most inconspicuous place.”
Creak
The door creaked with poor grease.
Jayna followed the maid into the room.
“This place was originally used as a warehouse for various fixtures. It’s currently not in use. So there is no one to clean it.”
The maid in charge didn’t seem to know where would she use this room.
The tower lord hasn’t announced me as his own daughter yet. Is that why he (Michael) can’t give me a luxurious room?
The place that Michael assigned to her was far away from the central tower.
To be exact, an empty room used as a warehouse by the people in the tower.
“How do you like your room? If you tell me what it’s for, we will change it to a more suitable room.”
“No, I’ll take this room.”
Jayna looked at every nook and cranny of the room with a calm face.
A room that feels desolate because it is old and unused. The room where Jayna was supposed to stay was empty without any furniture…
I liked the big window, but I could feel the coldness on the wall.
