Feigned Pity - CH 19
Thud-
Suddenly, a dozen books were piled in front of Gu Jing Yuan.
Gu Jing Yuan’s hand halted from tapping on the phone and looked at the stack of books as high as his eye level in puzzlement.
“What’s this for?”
Tao Yi Xi pat the top of the stack of books and replied, “As I’ve said before, I’m here to help Ge-ge in your studies.”
She picked out a set of papers and placed it in front of him, the bold characters on the front were particularly glaring.
<Elementary Sixth Mock Test Paper>
Gu Jing Yuan’s mouth twitched, “Are you serious?”

Tao Yi Xi was not idle either. While he was working on the papers, she had already completed her homework and a few mock papers she prepared for herself by collating several major provinces papers in preparation for the college entrance examination.
When she finished all her revisions at hand, he was still grinding at his test.
“Are you finished?”
The pen in Gu Jing Yuan’s hand paused, “Yes.”
Tao Yi Xi picked up the papers and saw the bold and cursive words. Her eyes lit up in admiration as she beamed at him.
“Who would’ve thought that Ge-ge’s calligraphy looks so pleasing.”
Gu Jing Yuan was momentarily stunned. He did not expect that her first sentence would be a compliment.
He rubbed the tip of his nose, “It’s, it’s still passable.”
He calmly put down the pen and nonchalantly started a game on his phone. But his gaze could not help but drift towards the papers in her hands. His fluttering mood from her previous praise slowly sunk to the bottom with each continuous stoke of her red pen.
The results were a little better than she had expected. Although the math, physics, and chemistry papers were a mess, the general concepts that were written were correct.
The most tragic was his English, even trying to do guesswork, it was still all wrong.
“Ge-ge.”
Hearing her call out to him, his scalp tightened, “I told you, I wasn’t made for study.”
She continued with her words, “That’s not it, I think you do have potential.”
“Huh?” This was also praise-worthy?
She pointed to the chaotic paper and explained very seriously, “Actually, you’re very talented in science. Even without studying, you managed to get the answers correct. This is something that others could only dream of doing. So as long as you’re willing to put in the effort, you would definitely see improvement in your grades very quickly.
“As for Chinese and English, as long as you do some memorization and grasp some comprehension concepts, you’ll be able to solve most of the questions.”
“If you start diligently studying now, you wouldn’t have a problem with the following tests.”
Tao Yi Xi said it earnestly and with ease, lifting his mood once again. As if he could get into a university just by casually studying.
Clearly what he attempted was just the first grade papers and it was already a complete mess.
He groaned in his heart.
What a sham.
She just wanted to trick him into studying and he almost believed her.
He opened his mouth wanting to say something but paused. In the end, nothing came out.
However, this was the first time someone believed in him.
After finishing her encouraging speech, Tao Yi Xi re-examined his standard and carefully formulated an adaptable study plan for him.
En, it was easy to say, but the road was still long.
She patted him on the shoulder and grinned, “Ge-ge, let’s work hard together!”
Gu Jing Yuan glanced at her soft little hand which she quickly retracted. Her actions were plainly in encouragement, without any other motives.
He lowered his eyes and manipulated the character in the game to move randomly.
Tao Yi Xi acted efficiently. The next day, when they were on the way to school, she took out a small notebook and handed it to him.
Gu Jing Yuan casually flipped through the pages. It was covered in her beautiful handwriting, specifying a schedule for his upcoming days from morning to night, accurately dictating his tasks for each subject.
She even offered him options where he could choose if he wanted to memorize a few items or attempt a few questions in each class.
Gu Jing Yuan silently stared at the densely-packed plan.
This was obviously hell.
“Ge-ge, let’s start with something simple.”
Gu Jing Yuan raised his eyebrows, “Simple?”
Seated in the front passenger seat, she turned to look at him. Those clear eyes reflected his figure, shining brilliantly and filled with faith in him.
“Although Ge-ge is smart and talented, you still have to put in hard work.”
Gu Jing Yuan, “…” He was complimented again, how annoying! Why was she suddenly so articulate?
“Ge-ge should give it a try. If you find it difficult, we can start with elementary school papers. I’ll not laugh at Ge-ge.”
He gritted his back teeth, “No need, starting from this is fine.”
“Ge-ge is awesome!”
Gu Jing Yuan: There’s really no need to praise that…
