Femme Fatale:the Queen Of Chess - Chapter 7
As soon as the man had emerged in front of Renna, the only thought hit her was the bitter remembrance of the past which held only pain and distrust that now the lady had became cautious at once, no wonder whenever and wherever someone would pop up.
‘No, not again. How could he find me, no, he don’t have much time to look into such matters personally.’
Renna’s inner voice burst out immediately, a cold shiver ran down her spine assuming that the man had came back to drag her into that pit of darkness once again, from which she had escaped by placing great efforts.
The lady had been aware that many rival gangs had teamed up to bring the ruling mafiya Lord down to the drain, thus, they hired numerous women and sent them to to drag him down and Renna was aware of all the ruckus. She was confident that after encouraging all those foolish and childish tricks Ronan would never believe in the words of that man.
‘I’m here again, but I won’t let you cage me once again. I won’t fucking allow you to cut my wings!’
Renna assured herself the premise she had built before coming here to the US one last time, she needed justice and for that the femme fatale was back to take what was hers in the first place.
No one could stop her now, she was ready to play dirty if it was required, the temptress was back to claim and to shake up the whole US, nothing could satiate her hunger except the head of Ronan Ross!
‘I’m sorry but I have to do this.’
Renna furrowed her eyebrows, she knew someone was following her but she did not expect the stalker to be ‘him’. The lady felt pity towards him, why would he have to get involved in her matter, he was poking his nose into a dangerous mess. Although, Renna never really liked him but still she prayed for him not to jump into the fire knowingly.
“Ow! Oww! You animalistic woman!”
The man winced in pain holding his nose, sure the punch would have broken his cartilage because the way he was moving his head with the excruciating pain satisfied Renna.
Her attempted action created a satisfactory distance between them, Renna dashed out of the car after sensing his condition, that he was unable to chase her, walking fastly she rushed towards the road, took bigger steps passing the zebra crossing leaving the man behind, groaning in pangs of pain.
‘Oh my God! What did I do?’
She was running after disappearing from his sight, how could the lady show her worrisome feelings even through her expressions or by her body language, both are the mirror of inner thoughts.
Her shaking limbs were carrying her away from the man while Renna’s mind was still clicking upon her earlier act, her inner self was scolding to attempt such a thing, no matter for what she had arrived there in the first place, Renna still felt something in her heart but now the definition was changed for her, the lady recalled the beginning of a novel by ‘Aysel Inara’ and the words perfectly fitted her current condition and feelings.
*Love is often associated with sweet sensation and by poets described as the fragile rustle of butterflies wings in your stomach, the abnormal beating of heart upon seeing your beloved, and sensation as though your chest is being constricted – so that you are unable to breathe.
What if I were to tell you that it’s all a lie, it’s all farce descriptions, what if I say love is poison! That these volcanic yet captivating emotions are venom, spreading in the blood, intoxicating the sane minds!
It isn’t something that you experience by getting hit due to cupid’s arrow, whereas it is set in motion by snake’s inveigling; the venomous game nature plays with us called love. What if I were to tell you that this vehement adoration is the rancor of love and that you shall lay down your life in its wake!*
As for Renna Amaryllis, her love for Ronan Ross had already became a poison, that destroyed her life that the lady had to fake her death to escape for her freedom but had died inwardly, indeed for her love was a lie.
Running past the signal of the main junction, she turned around the huge building and at that very moment the lady averted her neck to check in case the man was chasing her or not.
‘Thank Goodness!’
She thought to herself, struggling to catch breath, warm air was leaving her mouth as the lady was panting heavily.
Renna tucked her shaking silhouette with the wall and gasped for breath, she wiped off the sweat beads which were shining on her forehead, the Chantelle sportswear was exposing her flat tummy which had become wet due to the ‘cold sweat’ and fear.
No matter how much she had groomed herself and had changed, wearing the identity of Renna Amaryllis, the only name that had disturbed her ever since was ‘Ronan Ross’, the daredevil.
“I have to find a place to stay low, before proceeding further with my plan.”
Renna ‘detached’ her body with the wall when her condition got a little better, it was the interminable moment when her hazel orbs landed on the glass door one step ahead of her.
“Ah, gladly I came to the right path after that close sneak peak.”
It was all she had needed, seemed God was favouring her that she ended up right in front of the door of ‘House Renting Agency’.
Renna pulled the door and immediately stepped inside, the original colours were visible to her eyes instead of black, the walls of the office had a white paint and just then the thought hit her.
‘Fuck! I dropped my fries while encountering him and the shades in his car probably!’
She scolded herself inwardly, rolling her eyes on the absent minded foolishness, as pursed her lips in agitation and strode towards the desk.
She moved her hand on the hip to check whether the black card was still in her pocket or unluckily she had lost that only expensive possession on her, while the sojourn in the New York city.
‘At least, I have this on me.’
No one was around to attend her, the desk was empty and a man was sitting to her left on the bench, his bald head buried in the newspaper which was covering his half face, only the wrinkled forehead was visible that had three horizontal crease, an age factor.
“CEO Ronan Ross, won the award for business success and remaining on the top. The award was received by his personal secretary on behalf of the eligible bachelor.”
The highlight was facing Renna with a mocking grin, the great boss was still climbing the ladder and even shamelessly stated himself single, when he claimed to mourn over the death of his beloved wife in an earlier press conference.
Renna scoffed at the news and shifted her eyes towards the surroundings, and landed onto the pamphlet beneath her elbow, on the desk.
“This place would do good to stay low key, the price is not higher too.”
The lady’s face beamed with joy as her eyes flickered, which previously had a tinge of fright, mixed with some unsaid sadness.
Renna slid her gaze on the paper and memorized the address before leaving the office of the renting agency, who would not even know about her arrival, ever.
