Fenrir’s Journey: I Shall Devour The Heavens - Chapter 63
Unlike many of the arrogant girly men Fenrir had seen in this world, the old man before her seemed to be very calm, even as his fierce blue eyes locked on her. She could feel a very powerful aura radiating from his body but, even though she had threatened him, the old man didn’t appear to be perturbed by her words at all. Instead, after several seconds of silence, he asked, “Where did you come from…? You aren’t from around here…how am I unable to sense your Cultivation…?”
Hearing his questions, Fenrir’s expression turned even icier as she said, “I came here to get information, not give it away. If you want to fight me because of that arrogant and disgusting man, then come at me…!” As she spoke, the thin membrane of devouring energy became more prominent on Fenrir’s body, appearing like a midnight blue flame that strangely radiated an eerie white light. Seeing this, the old man’s brows furrowed slightly and, without any further discussion, he waved his hand forward.
Fenrir’s pupils shrunk to the size of pinholes as she saw this movement press forward as if it were in slow motion. Her body tensed up and she was willing herself to move but it almost felt like her nerves simply weren’t responding fast enough to her intentions. She could only stare as an illusory blue hand condensed out of thin air, barreling towards her with a pressure that made her instincts scream to evade. Unfortunately, they couldn’t will her body to move and she was forced to stand there as the hand formed a palm and crashed powerlessly into the devouring energy around her body.
The ground behind Fenrir cracked and remnant dust was kicked up in an area of several kilometers, even though the intended target was completely unscathed. Not only the old man’s, Wen Xiulan’s, the nearby disciples, and Fenrir’s own eyes widened upon witnessing this. She didn’t stop to process what happened though and, as he had already attacked, Fenrir bolted forward like a spring that had been pressed down and was finally released. Her severing claws tore towards the man, this time possessing the same devouring energy that coated her body.
Unwilling to face the deadly looking claws, the old man moved away so quickly that Fenrir could see more than a dozen afterimages that persisted for a long while after he stopped. Five of them even formed strange hand seals as the man screamed out, “Moon Catching Hands…!” A much larger hand condensed out of the void, this time accompanied by four other hands, each different in color and composition. Fenrir experienced the strange time dilation once again and it caused her eyes to change color until they too matched her devouring energy. The aura shrouding her body exploded, taking on the appearance of a massive wolf head that was 10m in diameter and completely protected her from the five hands, each contacting her energy and immediately being devoured.
Seeing this, the old man’s eyes opened until they were round as saucers and he shouted, “Devouring Domain!” with a face of abject terror. He then pulled out a strange black object that looked like a tool used to stamp official documents, tossing it towards Fenrir as he brought his index and forefinger in front of his face and shouted, “Heaven Moon Seal…!” This was a very powerful artifact that was used to seal demonic creatures that managed to break into the realms of man. The old man, known as Geng Chao, believed that this ‘young woman’ before him was either a True Demon, or one of the Cultists that followed them. It was the only thing that would explain her Pure Yin Constitution and how she was able to use terrifying energy like Devouring Laws, even though she ‘appeared’ to be a mere child…
Fenrir was starting to gain more confidence in the energy around her body and, even though she lacked fine control over it, just having it made her feel excited. When she saw the black object fly towards her, once again causing time to slow down, there was absolutely no fear in her eyes, even as it managed to pass through the wolf shroud around her body. Instead, a somewhat crooked smile spread across her face as she very naturally opened her mouth and chomped down on the black seal, crushing it with her teeth and swallowing it like a malt candy…
(Fenrir’s Commentary: ‘Very crunchy, not bad…!’)
