Fenrir’s Journey: I Shall Devour The Heavens - Chapter 64
Seeing his most precious artifact destroyed in an instant by the girl before him, Geng Chao nearly spurts blood from his mouth, barely managing to keep it restrained with a hard gulp. He was now beginning to regret committing to this battle as, even if he emerged victorious against this ‘Demon’, the price he had paid was already great. Even so, he brought his fists to his waist before striking forward, extending his palms outward as he shouted, “Heaven Lotus Palms!” This time, the two condensed palms of energy linked together as they flew, combining to create golden energy that bloomed out into a nine-petal lotus.
Just as she had done previously, Fenrir continued to barrel forward without shying away from the powerful energy pressing towards her. The wolf’s maw shroud around her body extended forward even faster than her own movement, widening its mouth before biting down on the lotus-shaped energy attack. It seemed, for the briefest of moments, that the lotus might actually be able to resist the frightful devouring energy. However, just as the radiance of the lotus doubled and it appeared to continue forward slightly, it almost immediately broke down and dissolved into nothingness.
Geng Chao felt like the blood around his brain was boiling as both of his most powerful attacks had been absolutely useless. With his four-hundred-nineteen years of experience, Geng Chao knew that, even if his Cultivation was lower than the girl’s. his skills and experience and skills were far more refined. Unfortunately, her devouring energy completely broke down any attack he threw at her, becoming even stronger as a result. Now, he was starting to think about how he could get out of this situation in order to send a message to a more powerful Sect to try and deal with her before she grew even stronger. From his perspective, Fenrir was likely an inner disciple from some Devil Sect, if not an outright pure-blooded True Demon…!
After trying to kick off the air and use [Koku Shundo], Fenrir realized there was no air to kick off of, leaving her somewhat confused. She quickly realized that, ever since the shroud surrounded her body, all of the surrounding air was also being devoured. Because her body only needed energy to subsist, Fenrir hadn’t realized this before now because her mind had been focused on other things. Since she could essentially ‘breathe’ through the shroud itself, Fenrir had completely overlooked this rather key detail. As a result, her foot kicked against nothing and she nearly stumbled before doubling her flight speed and trying to swipe at Geng Chao.
With his developed senses, Geng Chao has obviously noticed the ‘slip’ of the girl in front of him, allowing a realization to settle into his mind. Though it seemed an impossible scenario, his mind raced as a flood of information and memories pertaining to the girl in front of him emerged. He recalled that the reports claimed that the girl had actually come to ask for a Cultivation technique and seemed to have a fundamental lack of understanding about the world. If she was truly from one of those accursed Sects, there was no way someone with such a powerful constitution wouldn’t have been nurtured to an extreme…
This realization caused Geng Chao’s aged eyes to widen greatly as he considered that the girl before him was actually a ‘wandering’ Cultivator without any Cultivation technique. That meant that everything she was displaying during this struggle was her raw talent…! If they had managed to secure her as a Disciple, their Sect would have been able to rise above its standing and potentially contend with the other powerful Sects on the Continent! Now, believing his suspicion was correct, Geng Chao felt the urge to strange Tian Gengxin himself for earning the ire of such a rare seedling…
