Fiance Is A Crime Lord - Chapter 12
“You were right Peng Zedong, this is actually a lot of fun. I hope when you finally get a chance to travel to my place in the Iron Continent, that I can treat you. What we lack in comparison we can make up by giving you a voyage full of items to return here with.” Yao Ling told Peng Zedong as her stomach started to growl.
At first, Peng Zedong chuckled at how cute it was, until her stomach started to growl as well. It was clear that the two girls were ready to stop their shopping adventure in order to finally eat lunch. It couldn’t be helped because after all, the two were walking store to store for the entire day which would cause anyone to become hungry.
“I think you should bring our bags back to the car as the rest of you can follow us to our next destination.” Peng Zedong ordered one of the security guards who wasn’t carrying all of the bags during the day. It was clear that the one who was, deserved a break even if he chose not to show any visible signs.
“Of course young miss.” the security guard replied as he switched places with the other security guard and started to take his leave back to the car. With this, if anything were to occur, at least the girls wouldn’t feel cheated of their new belongings.
“So Yao Ling, here is a pretty well drawn map of the city, can you point out where that food stall was, so that we can go there immediately?” Peng Zedong asked her as she withdrew a beautifully made map which seemed to be made on very expensive material.
“There!” Yao Ling shouted out after pointing to a place not too far from where it seemed they were according to the map. What Peng Zedong didn’t realize before seeing this for herself, was that the food stall was not in the Peng family’s district.
Understanding that they would be outside of the Peng family’s area since it was past the lines her father had drawn on it, Peng Zedong still nodded her head before putting the map back into her purse.
At this point of the day, Peng Zedong was very hungry herself and felt that the security guards around the two would be more than enough to stop even a group of thieves who wanted to steal from them. Who cares if her father wanted to scold her, she was too hungry to even think about that scenario when they decided to return back to her place at the end of the day.
Grabbing Yao Ling’s hand once more, Peng Zedong led the way towards the food stall as she tried to come up with a strategy since this would possibly cause her and Yao Ling some trouble if they were not careful, even if they did have five security guards protecting them. It was true that the common criminal couldn’t necessarily threaten their group, but Peng Zedong still did not know why her father drew such lines on the map.
As they were leaving the Peng family’s territory, one of the security guards had Yao Ling follow behind him and Peng Zedong as he had a quick word with her since Peng Zedong only thought that the area was dangerous, and not that her father was a Crime Lord. If he were to not speak up now, it was possible for the entire situation to get out of hand rather quickly, so he needed to act without alerting Yao Ling.
“I know that your father wanted you to grant all of Yao Ling’s requests in order to keep friendly relations with her family back in the Iron Continent, but us five might not be able to properly protect the two of you given our small numbers. I am sure you saw the lines on the map, right? Those lines are to prevent you from entering areas of the city that have the highest rates of crime.” the security guard told Peng Zedong.
Peng Zedong did not know this either, but this particular bodyguard has served her father ever since he took over as the district’s Crime Lord. Therefore, he had a lot more information pertaining to the current city’s underworld situation and did not like the idea of the particular Crime Lord’s territory which they were heading into
The district that Yao Ling wanted to head into, was run by the Ding family who was not affiliated with the Peng family, but usually wouldn’t cause any trouble. However, the Crime Lord was known to be very cruel and sadistic towards women around Peng Zedong’s age.
He would never explain these things to both girls or even privately to Peng Zedong, but this still did not change the potential danger they were heading into. It would only take a small group of thugs to hurt the girls given their current numbers.
Since several years ago, many Crime Lords wanted to become friendly with the Peng family since they had a strong grasp on the local police force in many of the cities throughout the Flower Continent, which would allow them to conduct their businesses with less fear and friction.
Unfortunately, that was still not quite enough for some Crime Lords like the one representing the Ding family in this territory. It was to the extent, that once the other security guards finally noticed where they were, some chills ran down their spines.
They still had a job to do, and so even if they were a little fearful for what may occur while they were here, none of them withdrew away from the two girls that they were tasked with guarding throughout the day. Even if they had to sacrifice themselves to guarantee their safety, they would do so without the slightest hesitation.
The reason, was because if they proved themselves properly, the Peng family would guarantee that their personal family outside of the Peng family could live within the territory without worries including those of hunger or funds. The Peng family was known to be rather gracious when it came to outsiders who helped them and would pay everyone back whether good in this case, or otherwise if harm was done.
This is also why Peng Zedong’s father entrusted them with so much responsibility towards his daughter. There was a limited amount of people that her father could put around her. Otherwise, enough people would be curious and it would cause more bad than good which he was unwilling to see happen.
