Fiance Is A Crime Lord - Chapter 22
As it was time to finally leave for the city where Yao Ling would meet her grandfather and leave for the docks that were rather close to Maple City, the two girls walked down the stairs to greet Peng Zedong’s uncle once more. Peng Zedong’s uncle was in charge of taking them to the Peng family’s main building within the downtown area.
“I’ve got word from your grandfather that he ordered several delicacies for you to eat in case you are still hungry Yao Ling. Otherwise, if you are both ready to head out, we should leave immediately.” Peng Zedong’s uncle told them as they were escorted by many bodyguards to the cars.
Due to the incident earlier in the day, instead of just having one car full of security guards to escort them, Peng Zedong’s father ordered for one car full to drive ahead of them and another behind them on the way to the downtown area. It was unclear how they were able to afford to do this with the potential large scale battle happening on the other side of the city, but it was still done.
Seeing so many security guards traveling with them, scared Yao Ling quite a bit because it meant that the area they were heading into, was not considered very safe even this many hours later after they narrowly escaped danger. However, with the help of Peng Zedong’s confidence, she just kept these feelings to herself.
Before long, the cars had finally arrived in the big guarded garage of the Peng family’s main building where Peng Zedong father’s office was located. Standing outside waiting for the cars, were legions of security alongside both Yao Ling’s grandfather and the board members of the Peng family’s business.
Only serious expressions could be seen on everyone’s faces as the two girls exited the car to greet everyone. When he saw that his granddaughter looked exactly as she did when he dropped her off earlier, gave Yao Ling’s grandfather a sense of relief as he ran towards her and gave her a big hug as a small tear dropped from his eyes.
Not a single person spoke until Yao Ling’s grandfather and her whispered about several things and finally walked back over towards everyone. “Thank you all for the wonderful hospitality. I hope that justice will be served to those involved in this matter?” he asked the board members of the Peng family’s business.
“As we have mentioned, it seemed that the attack from earlier was most likely paid for by an outside party. We have some ideas of who they could be, but once we confirm this, you could be sure that justice will in fact be served to those who had done us dirty.” one of the board members told Yao Ling’s grandfather before shaking his hand.
“That is a good enough promise to me and should be good enough for our family. I will report the progress which we spoke about earlier in my notes once we get back. If all goes well, we should be seeing you all again in about one or two years from now.” Yao Ling’s grandfather told the group before bringing his granddaughter to one of their cars.
As he’d done this, over half of the security guards who were standing outside of a group of cars jumped into them and began escorting the main car out of the garage. The Yao family sent roughly thirty bodyguards with Yao Ling and her grandfather on this trip, but Peng Zedong’s father still wanted to send some of his men to accompany them to make sure there would be no mishaps.
No matter the cost, Peng Zedong’s father and the rest of the Peng family realized that if the target of the earlier instance was Yao Ling and not Peng Zedong, it meant that they needed to add additional security to their group until they got to the docks. If they did not do this and something terrible were to happen, they would feel the Yao family’s wrath.
The Yao family was considered to be a rather peace loving family who pushed their country’s ideals. However, when it came to their pure blooded family members, if anyone were to cause harm to them, they would focus a large portion of their power and wealth into finding those individuals and destroying them along with anyone associated with them.
This would be good for their allies such as the Peng family, but even then Peng Zedong’s father did not want the Yao family to personally act since the battles would occur on their doorstep. It would also potentially cause an international conflict between countries and the government and local police support the Peng family had, would instantly distance themselves.
“Peng Zedong, we will start heading back to the house immediately. Everyone else, please do whatever it takes to cause a stalemate for tonight. I have already spoken to the chief of police, and he doesn’t want the battle to last until morning or he would have to force his hand even against our side’s men.” walking out of the building, Peng Zedong’s father gave his orders before jumping into a car with his daughter.
