Waving goodbye to the beaming members of the Wang clan, Lu Fengyi left the residence in the direction of the village. Although the original novel had not talked about this, Lu Fengyi knew that there was a night market. It was a given, every single Asian society would have a night market.

Looking to gauge his spending power before he arrived, Lu Fengyi snuck into the darkness and opened up the bag. Upon seeing the inside contents, Lu Fengyi’s pupils constricted in shock. The bag contained mounds of sparkling coins that gleamed in the moonlight. Pouring them out to count, Lu Fengyi realised that that old man Wang Li had not only provided him with sufficient cash, he had also placed several high denotation notes within the bag. Totalling the entire amount, Lu Fengyi counted a perfect twenty thousand gold in both cash and bills.

Sweat dripped from Lu Fengyi’s forehead. He had just transformed from a peasant without a single coin to one of the richest students in the entire academy and possibly one of the richer people in the village. After all, farmers worked hard to make a living, however that did not mean that they had much money in their savings.

Thinking carefully for a moment, Lu Fengyi decided that the best method was to store a majority of the money. Although there were plenty of good people, there were a large amount of evildoers as well, who would know if another would greed for that large pouch and use brute force to steal it from him.

Selecting the bag of gold, Lu Fengyi chose to transfer all the high denotation bills and a majority of the gold coins, leaving him with five hundred gold. Willing for himself to exit, Lu Fengyi found himself back in the spot he originally was, now with a much lighter bag upon his waist.

‘Alright, time to head to the markets.’ Lu Fengyi looked around for possible passing pedestrians before leaping back onto the main road and walking as if nothing had happened. As he looked around the village, he noticed that most of the houses had dimmed their lights and only the taverns and the more popular shopfronts still had their lamps ablaze.

Upon the next intersection, Lu Fengyi noticed that down the road that lead in the south direction, there was an unnaturally brighter glow in the distance. Jogging quickly towards the lights, he realised that not only was the glow brighter, the entire street was busier, bustling with speedy farmers and urgent traders. In no time, he found himself at the centre of something he knew all too well, the night market.

“Cheap herbs here! Come get your cheap herbs!”

“Top quality weapons and tools for sale!”

“Amazing tasting food from a conferred kingdom!”

Lu Fengyi smiled as nostalgia swept over him. The night markets was where he had grown up before becoming an author making this rowdy atmosphere soothing and comfortable.

Lu Fengyi decided to head towards a herb store in order to pick up some basic training herbs. Although it was evident that the shopkeeper was trying his best to attract customers, he had only gotten a fair few.

Surprisingly, the shopkeeper did not chase him out, thinking he was a trouble making kid, but instead welcomed him in before returning to his post out the front.

As Lu Fengyi scanned through the masses of different herbs, looking for a suitable bunch, his eyes suddenly began to blaze. Although he was unsure and needed confirmation, just the thought of what he had seen excited him.
