Fictional Transcension System - Chapter 20 Aiding One In Need
Although Lu Fengyi had not seen the Frigid Sun Mother Grass before, based on the description provided within Library of Heaven’s Path of being yellowish and slightly withered compared to the more common Frigid Sun Grass. Just a single one of these would cost over a hundred thousand gold while if it was placed within an auction, the price would shoot up even more!
Remembering how Zhang Xuan had played it out, Lu Fengyi decided to do the same, “Shopkeeper! I’d like to enquire something about the Frigid Sun Grass that you have in stock.”
The shopkeeper paced into the shop before looking at where Lu Fengyi was gazing, “Ahh. These Frigid Sun Grass are freshly harvested from a dangerous location a few days ago. I generally make the trip once a month so you’re very lucky with your timing. I guarantee that I’m the only vendor that has Frigid Sun Grass in stock right now.”
Lu Fengyi nodded thankfully before pretending to pick out a suitable herb. The vendor’s eyes shined as he found a potential customer, “Young master, if you’d like, I could give you a discount if you buy several stalks or more.”
“I’m only purchasing a single stalk. I require it for medical use,” Lu Fengyi shook his head at the offer before picking up the Frigid Sun Mother Grass, “Why is this stalk withered? Is it sick?”
The vendor put up his hands to his chest and replied, “Young master, these stalks were procured fresh from the mountain so the stalk must’ve been just like this when I harvested it. I can give you a half price discount of fifty gold if you’d like.”
Lifting it and pretending to inspect it carefully, Lu Fengyi creased his brows before letting out a sigh, “Alright, wrap this up for me. I’ll pay the full price since I’m only buying one.”
Of course, the vendor had no issues with this arrangement, wrapping up the stalk and taking a hundred gold from the child before waving him goodbye.
Lu Fengyi held the stalk within his hands, feeling a little embarrassed at how he had scammed the vendor. Although he had paid double the price that the vendor had offered, he knew the true value of the Frigid Sun Mother Grass totalled over a hundred thousand gold. Shaking his head to dispel the thoughts, Lu Fengyi continued to browse through the stalls of the night market.
Less than an hour later, Lu Fengyi had already gathered some essentials that he would require for his plan. After spending 170 gold on a stack of parchments, several brushes and a large inkwell and 25 gold on a freshly baked pastry and a drink, Lu Fengyi had just over two hundred gold left within his waist pouch. Although Lu Fengyi had wanted to continue buying goods with his remaining gold, as he exited the pastry shop, he had seen Zhang Xuan stepping towards the herbs vendor which he had purchased the Frigid Sun Mother Grass from. Knowing that it would be quite dangerous to stay any longer, Lu Fengyi quickly left the night market.
“Haaa, I still have an entire quest to complete and it’s the one I’m the most reluctant to do.”
Although he was an author for eastern fantasy novels and had incorporated hundreds of face slapping moments within his novels, Lu Fengyi found it difficult to bring himself to harm the pride of others. Even though he knew all the right scenarios to slap face perfectly, it just wasn’t within his nature to seek out others to slap face.
Suddenly, a light bulb moment struck Lu Fengyi, “I know! I can perform the face slapping with the appraisal master that appears tomorrow in the markets. He’s already an evildoer so it doesn’t matter if I face slap him! As for the two other times I need to complete, I’ll just find a way in future.”
Having a solid plan, Lu Fengyi skipped happily back to his dormitory, snuggling into his blankets to await the following day, ‘System, wake me at four tomorrow.’
[ Understood ]
[ Morning has come! You must wake up for classes ]
Lu Fengyi leapt out of bed, grabbed his gear while donning his robes, thanking the system while he was at it. Now that he was much more familiar with the school layout, Lu Fengyi weaved through the student dorms and arrived quickly outside the classroom.
He knew that the other five students would clean the classroom first thing in the morning, so leaving the Frigid Sun Mother Grass upon the lecture stand was out of the question. The only place that the others would not touch would be the small side room that Zhang Xuan conducted his private sessions.
Lu Fengyi snuck through the unlocked door and entered the side room, placing the Frigid Sun Mother Grass upon the desk inside along with a note that recited, ‘Use this Frigid Sun Mother Grass instead of the Frigid Sun Grass on Zhao Ya.’
Now that his job was complete, Lu Fengyi decided to play the part of a faithful student, picking up a broom and beginning to sweep the entire classroom. Not long after, the other students filed in one by one, each noticing what Lu Fengyi was doing and also helping out to clean the room. Soon, the entire room was sparkling clean and not a single speck of dust could be found upon the old desks.
“Good job guys! Zhang laoshi should be quite happy with this result!” Lu Fengyi praised the other students.
“Yeah!”
“It’s only natural that a student should do this for their teacher.”
“Especially one of such calibre!”
The five nodded in agreement to Lu Fengyi’s words before sitting themselves down and beginning to circulate energy throughout their bodies. Although Lu Fengyi sat down as well, he knew that if he cultivated like the others, he would break through in no time and that would raise suspicion among the students.
Zhang Xuan yawned as he approached the adjacent classroom door. It had been a long night and although he did not require any rest to refill his energy, it was still an instinctive action that he often took when he was a librarian. Upon opening the door, Zhang Xuan realised that his six students had not only cleaned up the entire room to the point that even the wooden tables would shine with a certain gleam but also began to diligently cultivate.
Smiling at his students, Zhang Xuan clapped his hands together, “Alright students, we’ll be starting lessons now. Just like yesterday, come into the small room when your name is called.”
Stepping into the room, Zhang Xuan noticed a yellowish herb upon the desk along with a note as he went to place his teaching materials down. Picking up the note to read, his eyes constricted as he realised what was lying upon his desk. Although it seemed to be a simple herb that was of poor condition, Zhang Xuan instantly knew what is was upon touching it. What was lying upon the desk was not a sickly herb, but a mountain of gold!
“What the hell is going on here?!”
