Fictional Transcension System - Chapter 35 Revealing Identity
One may ask, ‘Where did that question come from?’
Lu Fengyi would answer, “I just thought of it. Read it from somewhere…”
Of course he would not be lying, after all, he did read it from the Cultivation Knowledge Pack, however what Lu Fengyi did not know was that nobody within the kingdom would be able to answer such a question. While the original Library of Heaven’s Path novel had featured several questions, there was no mention of difficulty and Lu Fengyi had no idea that the question he had just posed was only suitable to those of 6 star apothecaries and above.
Finally coming up with a workable interpretation, Zhang Xuan chuckled before answering, “From my understanding, this statement can be interpreted as, never heat a pill during the formation of its core or else you would be risking ruining the pill. Once burnt by the flames, the pill core will enter a state of disadvantaged arrangement, possibly causing deep scars within the pill and influencing the result of consuming it, however indirectly. The pill burns will only begin to show their devilish effects once the cultivator begins to circulate his qi and reflect upon the cycle of past cultivators, possibly endangering his life! Senior, am I correct in my analysis?”
Hearing the surprisingly detailed analysis, Lu Fengyi nodded, “Although you did explain the pill part of the question, you have not accurately analysed the second section. However, do not worry! If you were able to answer the question perfectly, you would be able to best even the guild leader of the apothecary guild branch.”
“So does it count as a pass?” Zhang Xuan questioned. The cloaked man’s uncertain tone made him worry somewhat. Who knew if he would be failed right here, ruining his efforts.
Lu Fengyi let out a chuckle, “Of course not, you have passed my section of the examination.”
As Lu Fengyi sat back into his seat, Elder Bai stood up before announcing the results, “Congratulations, examinee Zhang Xuan, you have passed the pill debate and have become an official apothecary.”
The white bearded apothecaries stretched out their stiff muscles as they walked out of the tent, speaking to one another.
“That’s the second one today.”
“Does that mean we will have two new members now?”
“I heard the first one was as young as this one.”
As the voices of the apothecaries dissipated into the air, Elder Bai turned to Zhang Xuan before indicating for him to follow. Lu Fengyi ran up to Elder Bai, walking side by side with the apothecary, “What do you think of the newest addition?”
Elder Bai turned his head before answering, “He’s not as knowledgeable and world shaking as you, however I believe he will also become an amazing apothecary in the future.”
“Not as knowledgeable? Brother Bai you must be mistaken! I would be ignorant to accept that.”
Thinking that Lu Fengyi was simply being polite once more, Elder Bai waved away his words, “If you’re not as knowledgeable as the other man, he might as well be Confucius by now.”
Sighing lightly, Lu Fengyi stopped his walking before turning towards Zhang Xuan, who was following behind them, listening to the conversation, “Brother Bai, I have a confession to make.”
While Elder Bai was surprised by the words, he did not question before gesturing for Lu Fengyi to continue.
Zhang Xuan took up the appropriate manners to the situation, “If you’ll excuse me seniors.”
Lu Fengyi hurriedly reached out to pull on Zhang Xuan’s sleeve, preventing him from leaving, “Wait a moment, this concerns you as well.”
Surprised at the cloaked man’s words, Zhang Xuan turned around in confusion, ‘How the hell could whatever you have to say do with me. I literally just met all of yous today so if you were to make some sort of confession it couldn’t possibly involve me right?”
Lu Fengyi dragged Zhang Xuan to stand next to Elder Bai before stepping back.
“So what is it?” Elder Bai could not hold be his curiosity any longer.
Composing his broad grin, Lu Fengyi pulled back the hood of his cloak before clasping his hands, saluting to Zhang Xuan, “Teacher, we meet again.”
Both Elder Bai and Zhang Xuan, who were usually calm and composed characters, reeled in shock as they heard Lu Fengyi’s words.
“T-t-teacher?” Elder Bai spurted out.
“Lu Fengyi? How could you be…” Zhang Xuan was stumped as well.
Lu Fengyi smiled lightly before continuing, “I wasn’t planning on revealing this to you, however Brother Bai’s confusion that you were inferior to me in knowledge caused me to reveal this earlier.”
Although Elder Bai’s head was still spinning from confusion, he was quick to compose his facial features, “You are saying that this… Zhang Xuan, is your teacher?”
Lu Fengyi nodded in confirmation, “Indeed, Zhang laoshi is the one who imparted me knowledge that was beyond my reach in the beginning, grooming me in the matter of a few days, to become an Elite Student. If my knowledge were to be superior to Zhang laoshi’s, I’d be the most ungrateful, arrogant student alive.”
Finally recovering from the initial shock, Zhang Xuan walked up to Lu Fengyi before knocking him lightly on the head, “You damned genius, you should have told me if you were going to pull something like this!”
“Yes, teacher!”
Out of simple curiosity, Zhang Xuan continued asking, “So when did you become an official apothecary?”
“Reporting to teacher, I became an official apothecary an hour ago.”
Zhang Xuan almost spat out a mouthful of blood. Sure, he wasn’t being insulted or humiliated, however the fact that the brat had literally become an apothecary an hour before his teacher was too shocking. Suddenly realising something, Zhang Xuan pressed on, “Does that mean that you passed the pill debate as well?”
Lu Fengyi tilted his head, as if confused, “Of course I did, how else would I be able to become an apothecary so fast?”
Seeing Lu Fengyi’s nonchalant expression, Elder Bai almost fainted in shock. Not only were the student-teacher duo talking about the pill debate as if it were trial examinations, both of them seemed to completely neglect the most authoritative figure present. Sighing in despair, Elder Bai could only give in. After all, one was an Elite Student who would most likely become one of the most powerful figures in the history of the kingdom while the others was the student’s teacher. Even if he tried to use his authority to bicker with the two for attention, it was likely he would not get any.
As the disturbed atmosphere began to calm down, something clicked within Zhang Xuan’s mind. All the evidence that he had come up with before along with the newest discovery that his student had become an official apothecary despite only living for a little over ten years could not be more suspicious. Without a hack like the Library of Heaven’s Path, there was simply no way for a normal human to complete such deeds if one did not have the background to support them.
