Fictional Transcension System - Chapter 41 Song Mei
“Can we talk in a civil manner now?”
Groaning in pain, the man nodded at Lu Fengyi’s words. If he were to continue fighting now, wouldn’t he just be looking for death? Even his own Guardian had been beaten to a pulp after Lu Fengyi’s protector went crazy.
“Can I first ask, what is your name?” Lu Fengyi decided to start with the basics. After all, the best way to get to know somebody was their name.
“Hmph! You should know my name by now, considering you were hired to deal with me.” the man spat.
Lu Fengyi put his hands out in a pacifying manner, “I’m really not what you may think I am. I’m a beginner and I just started using the Fictional Transcension System a few days ago. The fellow that just beat you up was my system representative.”
Hearing Lu Fengyi’s words, the man’s eyes cleared up, slowly realising that what Lu Fengyi had said was the truth. Even his rival Kang Lu did not have the economic power to rally a Guardian, so how could his lackeys possess any? If one were to possess a Guardian, they would already one of the top hundred competitors on the rankings. Even the little boy, who was currently acting as his Guardian was only a one use trump card, once it got injured, it would sink away, leaving him to his own devices.
As everything finally fit perfectly in the man’s mind, he realised that he had just tried to exterminate a newbie, one who had literally just started as well. He had just become the type of person he hated most!
Hurriedly, the man scrambled into a sitting position before bowing lightly, “Young one, please forgive my earlier actions. I truly thought you were a despicable bounty hunter sent by one of my most hated rivals.”
Lu Fengyi waved away the apology.
Finally coming more to his senses the man continued, “My name is Song Mei. I’ve been a user of the Fictional Transcension System for a little over five years now and I’m currently completing the fourth quest for the Library of Heaven’s Path timeline.”
Lu Fengyi frowned in confusion. Although there were many names in Chinese that could be either male or female, the name Song Mei was just too feminine to be used on a guy, especially a buff one like him. Deciding not to address the issue, Lu Fengyi continued, purely out of curiosity, “If you’ve been using the Fictional Transcension System for several years now, could you give me a little information about everything that my system has not told me yet.”
Contrary to Lu Fengyi’s expectations, Song Mei shook his head. Seeing Lu Fengyi’s confused expression, Song Mei sighed, “I would if I could, however there is an unspoken rule that newbies must learn the ways of the system themselves. If experienced users were to simply explain everything, there would be less effective development and the experience wouldn’t be as rich for the newbie.”
Acknowledging the point, Lu Fengyi couldn’t think of anything important to say. He had just clear up his suspicions about the other party and convinced them that he was not here to harm them. Now, he had received some basic information about the other party, so there wasn’t much left to talk about.
Just as Lu Fengyi was about to begin absorbing the surrounding energy in hopes of healing himself, Song Mei’s voice rang out once more, “Would you like to add me as a friend? I’ll send the request.”
Hearing the innocent suggestion, Lu Fengyi agreed to the proposal, ‘System, could you open up my friend’s list?’
[ Of course, I’ll open it up on the interface ]
Once again, the glowing interface appeared before Lu Fengyi. Before long, a popup appeared on the side of the screen.

Clicking the green ‘accept’ button, Lu Fengyi glanced back up at Song Mei, who was suddenly dispersing into particles of light, a portal looking opening in space above him.
“What’s going on?” Lu Fengyi questioned.
Song Mei smiled slightly, “Unfortunately, since I’ve finished my quest, I need to leave this world. I’ve put my settings so that I get dragged out of the world immediately after finishing all required tasks.”
Song Mei paused for a moment before continuing, “I look forward to talking with you more, however it seems that it will have to continue some other place. If you finish your quests and move back into the lobby, please send a message to me via the system. We’ll meet again then.”
Lu Fengyi nodded at his newfound friend. While the name did not suit the figure well, it was still a pleasure to meet someone other than the system. At first, he had thought that he would be beaten to death today, however instead, the tables had turned so much that the supposed enemy had become a friend.
Watching as the last of the lights were sucked into the portal before the tractor ray dispersed into thin air, Lu Fengyi heard sounds of tens of footsteps approaching the shop quickly. While he wanted to avoid as much attention as possible, there was simply no way to escape the situation. Resigning himself to whatever the aftermath would offer, Lu Fengyi leaned against the wall, mentally drained.
The doors to the room slammed open as several guards barged through, each wielding pikes with several meters of reach. After a dozen of the guards secured the perimeter, a group of elderly people walked through the door. Lu Fengyi widened his eyes as he realised who had come.
It was the Wang clan.
“Lu Fengyi!”
Lu Fengyi heard Wang Ying’s desperate voice before a warm, soft feeling embraced his body. Instinctively reaching up to keep the warmth closer, Lu Fengyi hugged Wang Ying who was crying tears of sadness. After all, it was evident that after she left, Lu Fengyi had used everything within his power to fight off the enemy. Why else would he be covered in bruises and wounds.
“Shit! Brother Lu, I’ll get you some medicine right now.”
Lu Fengyi saw Elder Li run out the door, sprinting towards the nearby apothecary guild. He closed his eyes before sighing. A beauty was hugging him, crying for his sake, a grand elder was sprinting like a young boy to the apothecary guild to purchase some healing pills. If he wasn’t satisfied with the care he was getting, he would only be able to describe himself as inhumane.
Willing the surrounding energies to enter his body, Lu Fengyi felt the affinity between the spiritual energy and himself. As each of the beads of energy sunk into his body, Lu Fengyi felt the injured cells heal and reform, rejuvenating and improving his body.
The ordeal hadn’t ended too badly.
It was just a shame he didn’t get to finish his date…
