Fictional Transcension System - Chapter 50 The Three Master Teachers
Craft the pills, forge the heart, temper the mind.
An outstanding quote that Lu Fengyi had found during his visit to the apothecary library. If Lu Fengyi did not possess the Cultivation Affinity, he would not have realised that while there was the most basic understanding of the quote that even the most average apothecaries would be able to understand, there was an underlying profoundness within.
Since ten days ago, Lu Fengyi had continuously crafted pills within his room, only stopping to notify Zhang Xuan of his absence and consuming superior grade 3 recovery pills to replenish his dried up reserves of zhenqi.
Over the course of his pill forging, Lu Fengyi had not only improved the chance of success in crafting a superior grade 3 recovery pill to over 72%, he had also managed to construct a theoretical recipe for a superior grade 4 recovery pill.
The flames beneath the cauldron died down as a miniature explosion shot a pill towards a frowning Lu Fengyi. During the time he had been recovering, he had been struck with an epiphany. Since pills were made out of ingredients that would each have their own internal energy, according to the law of conservation of energy, there would be no energy lost, nor gained, in a reaction. Since forging pills was basically the same concept, if there was ever the releasing of force in an explosion or radiating waves of herbal energy, that would mean that the pill forging had not been complete and energy had leaked from the final product.
Craft the pills, forge the heart, temper the mind.
Wouldn’t the true meaning behind the quote explain the correlation between the two topics he had been contemplating? If he were to find the true nature of pill forging and eventually manage to establish an understanding, that would in turn cause his pill forging to improve.
Lu Fengyi reached for another set of ingredients, however all his hand met was empty space. Sighing to himself, he stretch out his muscles before standing up and patting himself down.
‘System, how long has it been since I first started forging pills?’
[ It has been exactly ten days. You have a reminder that you set for today, (Zhang Xuan receives pills from the apothecary guild) ]
Lu Fengyi nodded in content. The teacher evaluation would begin within several days and since he had run out of both ingredients for pill forging and money to purchase more, it was due time that he got back to the classroom to attend lessons once more.
Shutting the door behind him, Lu Fengyi left the dormitories and hurried towards the classroom. Gasps of surprise rang around him as he approached the school.
“Isn’t that…”
“He doesn’t look as intimidating as I thought he would.”
“The aura is super powerful though! I can feel it from all the way over here.”
Leaping down the stairs, Lu Fengyi arrived at the door to the classroom. Just as he was about to enter, a fluctuation of cultivation energy flared from the shadows in the far corner, directly opposite Lu Fengyi. Knowing not to do anything suspicious, Lu Fengyi opened the door and stepped through normally as if he had not noticed anything before quickly shutting the door and expanding his own aura.
As he reached towards the direction in which he had felt the probing energies, Lu Fengyi felt the presence of three individual figures, each at the pinnacle of the Tongxuan realm. Just as he was about to probe further about the figures, Lu Fengyi heard faint whispers from outside the classroom.
“That was him right? The Elite Student Lu Fengyi.”
“I think so. Based on the results from my probing, he should be of the Dingli realm pinnacle stage.”
“Truly a genius that outstrips his surroundings, crashing down the pillars of the heavens.”
While Lu Fengyi was still unsure of the identities of the three men, he had a strong suspicion to who they were. Grinning slightly, Lu Fengyi manipulated his probing aura to condense, swinging lightly towards the three men.
~Woosh~
“What was that?”
“I just felt a force pass over us. I couldn’t tell where it came from, however the power is outside anything we could produce.”
“Could it be that we’ve been detected?”
Lu Fengyi had just sent a wave of energy towards the trio, however their conversations still said nothing about their identity. While he knew that the three had cultivations much lower than his true cultivation, since he had already met a men like Song Mei before, there was no way he would judge a cultivator by their cover again.
“Quiet for a moment, I hear another person coming down the stairs.”
Surprised at the surprising notification from the three men he was stalking, Lu Fengyi turned his attention towards the spiralling stairs that he had descended only moments before.
~tap tap tap~
A slim man of average height dressed in a teacher’s robes walked down the stairs before turning towards the classroom Lu Fengyi had entered. Of course, without a doubt, it was Zhang Xuan.
“Ahh, and that is the legendary teacher of Hongtian academy.”
“Despite his poor reputation, his true skills is on another level compared to the other teachers.”
“Yes, I heard that he became an official apothecary through pill debate as well, becoming the second youngest official apothecary in the kingdom.”
Grinning slightly, Lu Fengyi stepped back a little from the door before retracting his aura from the probing state. Seconds later, the door swung open and Zhang Xuan walked through with a pale, aged face and red eyes that made him look dead tired.
“Lu Fengyi greets Zhang shi!” Lu Fengyi took a mock bow.
“So you’ve finally come back? Last time we met, you told me that you had affairs to take care of before you would be able to come back. Do you know how much I went through in order to prevent the other students from becoming too suspicious about your disappearance?” Zhang Xuan sighed in apathy.
“Oh? Tell me about it.”
Zhang Xuan shot his student a glare before continuing, “If they ask, just tell them that you were out cultivating a technique that required complete concentration and hence you couldn’t return to the classroom for the past few days.”
Lu Fengyi tilted his head cheekily, “But I haven’t learnt a technique. What if they ask about it?”
An awkward silence passed before Zhang Xuan responded, “You’re saying that you don’t know any techniques.”
Lu Fengyi grinned brightly.
“Haaa, forget it. I’ll teach you the slightly improved version of your taekwondo arts. Do mind that it is not the perfected version, but only an improved version due to my lack of knowledge over taekwondo.” Zhang Xuan felt scammed on the inside. Not only had he expended effort in order to appease the curious students, he also had to give away a free improvement on Lu Fengyi’s technique, wasn’t this kind of unfair?
