Fictional Transcension System - Chapter 67 Bankruptcy
‘Generous?’ Lu Fengyi crinkled his brows in a mixture of disappointment and confusion. From when he was in highschool, all the way to university, he had never before gotten below a distinction in any assessment he did, however the fact that getting a D+ was already generous meant that he truly failed the tutorial. Was that even possible?
“Shen He xiaojie, what did you get in the tutorial?”
Shen He chuckled as she waved aside the formalities, “No need for that, just call me Shen He. For my tutorial, hmm, from what I remember, I got an A- for it. While it seems like a pretty high score compared to what you got, it isn’t that much above average. From what I’ve heard, the current geniuses in using the Fictional Transcension System did not get an A+ for the tutorial, but instead the extremely rare and difficult S+ rank.”
Lu Fengyi sighed sadly. Although he had written about how geniuses were simply untouchable and unfathomable by normal people, he had never truly believed it. From his experience, as long as one worked hard, they would be rewarded, however it seemed that the notion of geniuses was truly correct.
‘Didn’t you say that I had surpassed 95% of newbies or something like that? Why am I ranked so low in the evaluation?’ Lu Fengyi suddenly remembered the system’s words when he had formed the grade 2 vortex.
[ Oh, that? Just because you have innate talent doesn’t mean that you automatically are secured a good position. I’ll have you know that your decision making skills were completely abysmal! ]
Lu Fengyi let out a wry grin, ‘Thanks for that.’
“Since you bought me a Star Raising Coffee, that must mean you hit the jackpot in T-gold during your tutorial, right?” Shen He lifted her cup before downing the rest of the aromatic drink.
“Jackpot? What counts as a jackpot?” Lu Fengyi scratched his head. Although it was true that he had 61 T-gold remaining after he left the tutorial, it did not seem like much after comparing it with the prices of internal storage units.
Shen He shifted over before nudging Lu Fengyi’s side with her elbow and showing a mischievous grin, “How much did you get? Come on, don’t be shy, you can tell me straight up. Actually, just tell me, how many digits.”
Lu Fengyi paused for a moment before answering, “Two digits.”
“Haha! I thought so… wait,” Shen He looked at Lu Fengyi to see if there were any signs of him joking around, “Two digits?”
“Yeah, 61 to be exact.”
Seeing Shen He’s reaction, Lu Fengyi knew that the amount of gold that he had wasn’t much, “But it’s just a coffee, right? How much could it even cost?”
Shen He dropped her jaw in shock, “You do realise that the Star Raising Coffee costs 500 T-gold per cup, right?”
Lu Fengyi almost fainted in shock as he heard the figure. Five hundred? Five hundred was over eight times his current amount of gold, and to think that he bought two cups as well! Was he going to be bankrupt on his first day back?
Shen He threw her head back before laughing heartily, wiping away the tears that came constantly to her eyes, “No, no! This is too much for me. To think that in your attempt to get me to listen to you, you would not only purchase Star Raiser Coffee, but also get yourself bankrupt already!”
Seeing the commotion, one of the waiters strode over, “Excuse me, but I’ll have to get you to quieten down. You’re disturbing the other customers.”
Shen He sniggered a little more before finally calming herself down, “So? What are you going to do now?”
Lu Fengyi thought quickly before looking hopefully towards Shen He. Realising his intentions, Shen He shook her head in reply, “Unfortunately, although I’ve been a user for almost a year now, I have only gathered enough to pay for one of them. I won’t be able to help you out.”
Just as Lu Fengyi was about to lose hope, a cheerful voice sounded from outside the cafe, “Lu Fengyi!”
Turning to face the sound, Lu Fengyi saw an averaged height girl that wore a plain, white t-shirt and black trackpants. Also hearing the call, Shen He watched confusedly before asking, “Someone you know?”
“I…” Lu Fengyi was about to answer, however he was abruptly interrupted by the girl, who was now walking towards their table.
“Of course he knows me. Don’t you, Lu Fengyi?” the girl took a seat from another table before placing it to form a triangle upon the table that Lu Fengyi and Shen He was on.
Trying his best to remember, Lu Fengyi could come up with a list of people that had similar appearances to the girl before him, however he knew that she was definitely a different person.
‘Unfortunately, I don’t think I know you…” Lu Fengyi began.
“Oh come on! I literally met you several weeks ago. You were doing your tutorial, were you not? Am I that easily forgotten?”
The girl pouted a little upon hearing Lu Fengyi’s words.
Lu Fengyi thought back to the known transcenders that he had met within his tutorial, however no matter how hard he tried to remember, he could only think of that one buff guy with the extremely feminine name, Song Mei.
‘Wait a moment… That can’t be right!’ Lu Fengyi’s mind spun as he looked at the girl once more, only to see her blink expectantly, “You’re Song Mei?!”
Song Mei help up both her hands while displaying a bright smile, “Bingo! You got it!”
Lu Fengyi had never believed that someone would be able to spit blood from surprise, however now, his belief had been proven wrong by himself. Unable to hold back the urge any longer, Lu Fengyi relieved the day’s worth of stress and confusion in a single puke.
The two girls glanced towards each other before muttering lightly.
“He seems really surprised.”
“Indeed. I wonder why he would react so much to simply finding out your name…”
Lu Fengyi cried internally. Finding out her name? If it were just that, he definitely would not need to resort to puking, however the fact that the buff, middle aged man he had met before, suddenly transformed into this slender beauty that seemed to be not even twenty and would be able to capture many men’s hearts with a glance was way too shocking. Even a seer would not be able to expect such a drastic change, alright? How the hell do you expect me to stomach this?
Song Mei got off her seat before patting Lu Fengyi lightly on the back, “There there. Even if you may be a little shocked and partially lost your pride, at least you still have your money and experience. Everything can be solved in due time if you have the economic power.”
Hearing the words, Lu Fengyi could only continue vomiting blood. I just went bankrupt okay? Do you really need to rub it in like that?
