Fictional Transcension System - Chapter 85 Supplementary Tests
“Who would’ve known that you’re a genius that destroys us in examinations. You’ve truly kept yourself too silent to notice!”
Jia Wei, one of his classmates, tousled Lu Fengyi’s hair without warning. Honestly speaking, Lu Fengyi himself did not expect to score so high, however since he did, that must’ve meant that he had remembered his basics correctly. Pulling up the results screen, Lu Fengyi looked carefully for mistakes, however almost every subject he saw was flawless. It was only until the final three sections in which he found glaring mistakes.
Financial Studies – 158/200
Politics – 162/200
Chinese – 18/200
Knowing that he had only answered several questions in the entire Chinese section, Lu Fengyi was not overly surprised by the score, however he was quite disappointed as well. At that moment, Yang Boyi began to announce the top and bottom marks for each subject in the examination.
“As you all know, after the test, I announce the highest and lowest mark along with the person who obtained them. This is done in order to give recognition to those who performed well while also allowing the bottom feeders to understand where they went wrong and reflect so that they can perform better next exam.”
The students turned their attention to the teacher, peeking from time to time at Lu Fengyi.
“Ahem, as to nobody’s surprise, Lu Fengyi was first overall, with an outstanding score of 914. Well done to him. As for the person who performed the lowest, it’s Jie Heng with a score of 92. Jie Heng, I hope you can reflect on your score and use this opportunity to improve before the final examination next year.”
A stockily built boy at the back of the classroom stood up before bowing lightly and sitting back down, “Yes teacher!”
“I’ll now announce the results by subject. For mathematics, Lu Fengyi achieved the highest score of 198 out of 200, Chemistry was also taken by Lu Fengyi with a score of 192/200, Physics as well with a score of 196/200. Unsurprisingly, Xie Yao has taken the top spot for Financial Studies with full marks while Ke Mu took Politics with full marks. As for Chinese…”
Seeing their teacher pause once more, the students once more glanced at Lu Fengyi with suspicious eyes.
“Oi, Lu Fengyi. You got top marks again, didn’t you?”
“I never thought that he would be able to ace Chinese as well. It’s quite hard these days.”
“Then again, he got almost perfect marks in the first three subjects, so it wouldn’t be that surprising.”
Yang Boyi showed a stifled expression before continuing, “That’s not it. Xie Yao was the one to get top marks in Chinese, obtaining 187/200, however…”
The class anticipated in unison, “However…?”
Yang Boyi sighed deeply, “Lu Fengyi obtained the lowest marks in Chinese, with an… interesting score of 8/200.”
“Huh…”
“Eight?”
“I didn’t hear wrong right?”
Many of the students gaped in disbelief and shock. Lu Fengyi had swept them aside with the highest score in history for their age group, displaying almost completely flawless marks in the first three sections and causing even their usually completely calm teacher to become speechless, however of all the subjects to fail, he had failed Chinese. One must know that as long as one communicated in Chinese on a daily basis to other people, they would be able to obtain decent marks. That is to say that grabbing a random person off the streets would result in a higher mark than eight, and not by a small margin either. The standard score would be above forty for sure. Achieving what Lu Fengyi had, yet still failing the easiest subject to pass, that was unthinkable.
The room grew loud with discussion and many students ran up to Lu Fengyi with incredulous faces.
“Hey, hey! Are you a foreigner?”
“How did you manage to get so low?”
“To think that even the genius has his flaws…”
Lu Fengyi displayed a wry grin at the comments. Even he had no expected this outcome. Turning towards Yang Boyi, Lu Fengyi called out with a worried expression, “Is there any punishment for obtaining such a low score?”
How twisted this was! Within his heart, Yang Boyi did not want to punish the most genius student in history of their academy, however as a teacher, he had to follow official procedures.
“Lu Fengyi, since you failed Chinese to this extent, I will have to give you a punishment. Taking into account your excellence in all other subjects, your sentence will be to complete supplementary test in Chinese until you pass.”
Xie Yao let out a sigh of relief. While she had never met this Lu Fengyi before, it was still comforting to see a fellow student escape severe punishment. Generally, if a student got as low as 8 in a compulsory subject like Chinese, then they would have to serve every afternoon completing supplementary lessons, and even if they got themselves back up to scratch, they would still be held there for detention, a punishment that no student would want to have. That’s the main reason why even the dropkicks of the school would get enough marks to at least clear themselves of getting punished.
Lu Fengyi breathed a sigh of relief. Since it was only until he could pass the tests, there was no need to worry about losing too much game time, and that was only if his first few lessons went over 5pm as well. If he had to stay back learning something that he had used all his life, wasting precious time that he could be spending in investment and exercising his body, that would truly be tragic.
After reading out the rest of the results, Yang Boyi dismissed the students before quickly instructing Lu Fengyi some supplementary homework that would aid him in his following examination.
Taking a look at the time on his phone, Lu Fengyi planned out the remaining hour and a half before he had to get home and start playing Conviction at 5pm. Since he was only several minutes walk from the supermarkets, his most optimal course of action would be to first pick up some strength building tonics so that he could become more powerful. After that, he would go around and see if there were any decent gyms and other important locations before returning home. For the most part, he just needed to scout out the area to see what resources he could make use of.
Just as he left the school grounds, a notification from the system sounded out.
[ You have received a compulsory quest. Would you like my to read it out? ]
Lu Fengyi nodded.
[ The latest quest will help you on the way to becoming a better Shadow Assassin. Part one of this quest is, kill a monster 6 levels above you ]
