Finding Stardust - Chapter 158 Adventure In Daneria
“Where are we going?” asked Emma when she saw the vehicle.
“Going on an adventure,” Therius said briefly. He opened the door beside the driver for Emma and signaled for the girl to enter. This vehicle was shaped like a wide-bodied car with two sets of seats in front and the back. There were no wheels under this vehicle, so Emma suspected this vehicle could fly.
She got into the passenger seat and sat down nicely. Xion immediately jumped in and sat in the back seat. Therius then got into the driver’s seat and closed the door.
The roof of the vehicle was transparent. As soon as the door was closed, Therius pressed a button and the roof immediately opened to the side like a convertible car.
“This is so cool,” said Emma. “What’s this thing called?”
“These are called travs. Small vehicles for exploring short distances,” said Therius. “On earth, it is similar to a car. But the difference is, we do not use the road because in Daneria there are no roads built for vehicles. This travs will fly.”
“Oh …” Emma was fascinated. Humans had started to produce flying cars on earth. However, there were still only a few people who could use them. Air transportation regulation was still being debated in most countries. Moreover, the price of flying cars was still very high, and only a handful of people could afford it.
“Are you ready?” Therius asked.
Emma and Xion nodded together.
“I’m ready,” said Emma.
“One moment,” Therius, who just fastened his seat belt, saw that Emma was not wearing her seat belt, probably because she was too excited or she did not see where it was located. The man leaned over and pulled the seat belt from the side of Emma’s seat and fastened it for her.
Instantly Emma’s body went stiff when the young man leaned over to her, almost touched her chest to grab the damned seat belt, and then fastened it. Therius was careful not to touch her, but in those two seconds that he was leaning over, Emma realized she was holding her breath.
“I can buckle it myself,” the girl protested.
“It’s done,” Therius commented. He retracted his body from her side and focused his eyes on the steering wheel. “Let’s go.”
Emma turned her face to the side, not wanting to show Therius her pouting lips. She didn’t know if it was intentional, but she thought Therius leaning over to fasten her seatbelt was too much. She scolded herself for being too excited and forgot about fastening it herself.
After seeing that all the passengers were ready, Therius immediately turned on the travs and drove it.
With very smooth movements, the travs climbed upwards and immediately sped away from the Akkadian research base. Emma held her breath when she realized they had flown above the planet Daneria at an altitude of only 50 meters, so they could clearly see the beauty of the ground below them.
She didn’t say anything, but from her expression that was filled with enthusiasm, Therius could see Emma was enjoying their trip. The prince only smiled slightly. He felt that moment was too beautiful to be ruined with words. Hence he was also silent.
Somehow, Xion shared his thought. This usually talkative young man also didn’t say a word at all.
The open roof let the wind in and subconsciously Emma took a deep breath of oxygen and filled her lungs.
Ahh .. it is so fresh.
She then looked down and saw that the scenery below them was gorgeous. As far as the eye could see, they saw green pastures and some large animals that reminded Emma of dinosaurs in books. They were all eating in peace.
The Travs kept going at low speed so they could enjoy the beauty below them. The journey felt so peaceful. The vast grasslands were then replaced by snow-capped mountains.
Half an hour later, they were crossing the valley mentioned by Xion, with colorful wildflowers everywhere the eye could see. In the middle of the valley there was a big river flowing with clear water looking like a rainbow.
Emma held her breath many times as she watched beauty after beauty presented below.
After crossing the beautiful river, the trav drove a little more and then landed on the top of a cliff.
Daneria was a small planet orbiting a bluish star so far away from it that the planet’s daytime lasted for quite a long time. Emma was already feeling sleepy after lunch. She became more sleepy after she sat in the travs and enjoyed the beautiful view below them. It felt so relaxing.
“We’ll stay here and rest. I see you’re sleepy,” said Therius, while landing travs at the cliff’s top.
Emma yawned and then commented, “How many hours is a day here?”
“Here, a day lasts for 40 hours, so we will experience light for 20 hours and dark for 20 hours,” explained Therius. “Xion and I can easily adjust our biological clocks, but I don’t think you’re used to it.”
Emma shook her head. She was jealous to see that the two young men still looked fresh. It was so nice that they could just adjust their body to the situation on the new planet.
Emma opened the door of the travs and walked out of her side. She then walked around to see their surroundings. A moment later, she was transfixed on her place, looking amazed.
The cliffs they were on were filled with a savanna with tall green grass and various beautiful wildflowers. There were several gigantic trees in the distance, here and there.
They saw a breathtaking canyon below the cliff with a waterfall flowing from the clifftop next to their place, forming a river that flowed all the way to the horizon. On the other side of the cliff, she saw a dozen big and small waterfalls. They made the atmosphere looked so magical.
Did fairies live here? This place was too beautiful for words!
Ah .. Xion said there were 20 waterfalls here, didn’t he? Ahhh … amazing!
“We’re going to camp here,” Therius said as he signaled to Xion to help him unload their gear from the trunk of the travs.
“Camping? Did you bring a tent?” asked Emma in surprise. She became very excited. “What can I do to help?”
“You can sit nicely and let me and Xion arrange everything. You are not used to doing stuff the Akkadian way,” Therius said with a smile.
Emma scowled and looked away. For some reason, Therius was smiling at her a lot lately. Ever since they made a deal to have a truce and became temporary friends, the young man seemed to treat her very nicely.
Emma was not sure that she would be able to go back to being enemies with Therius after they arrived in Akkadia. Ahhh … She could only take a deep breath.
Therius and Xion took out several boxes from the trunk of the travs and put them on the ground.
“We bring a nice sofa for you to relax,” said Therius. He took a small object from the box and pressed a button next to it. It immediately expanded as it was filled with air. Emma immediately saw an air sofa with a soft velvet top. Therius put a blanket on it. “This is for you to rest. The sofa is very comfortable.”
“Oh … this is wonderful,” said Emma. She immediately plopped herself on the sofa and complimented it. “You’re right. This is great. Hmm… are we not going to set up a tent?”
“No, we will sleep under the sky,” Therius replied. He smiled slightly and wave his right arm. The heavy clouds that were floating in the sky, ready to pour its content in half an hour, was suddenly swept away by a strong wind and moved away from them. “It will not rain here.”
“Oh … that’s right,” Emma nodded.
It was the first time she was traveling with people who also had magical powers like her. With Xion and Therius around, their journey would be very easy. They could stay comfortably anywhere.
“You look sleepy. If you want, you take a little nap here, so that your body will be refreshed,” said Therius. “Xion and I will go to the canyon down there and catch some water animals for us to eat.”
Emma actually wanted to go down fishing with them too, but she was very sleepy.
“Hmm … but the sky’s still very bright …” complained Emma. “I’m very sleepy but I can’t sleep with this much light.”
“Oh, is that so?” Xion looked around their surroundings and then pointed at a large tree in the middle of the savanna. “If you sleep under the shady tree, you will feel more comfortable.”
Emma followed his line of sight and nodded. “It seems so, but the tree is too far away and”
Before Emma could finish her sentence, Xion had moved his hand casually and a giant hand made of air appeared again and uprooted the giant tree from the ground.
“What the” Emma pressed her lips in shock.
It didn’t take long before the tree in question had flown towards them and Xion ‘dug’ the ground near Emma with another giant hand and replanted the tree there.
Suddenly, Emma was surrounded by shade, and the bright rays of the Daneria sun were covered by the giant tree’s lush branches. It had become a perfect place to rest and close her eyes.
“Can you sleep now?” Xion asked her attentively.
Emma bit her lip and nodded. “Yes.”
She should know better not to be surprised.
