Finding Stardust - Chapter 163 Two Moons Of Daneria
“You’ve practiced your various abilities, so now you can hold my fire shield and it couldn’t hurt you,” said Therius.
Emma nodded. Still, she was shocked because when she touched Therius’s shoulder, her hand seemed to be burned by a hot fire.
“I want to know what did you mean by saying ‘very well’?” Emma asked again after she’d pulled herself together. “Are you saying you’re willing to lose to me in five years?”
Therius stared at Emma for a long time and finally nodded. “Yes. I have to keep my words. Since I lost and I have to grant your request, in five years, I will lose to you. But only if you fulfilled all your roles during these five years. Our contract is not canceled.”
Emma was stunned at Therius’ words.
That sounded so easy.
Therius didn’t protest at all or called her a cheater. He just agreed to Emma’s request, even though it seemed that the man was actually not willing and he was disappointed by her. Was Therius serious?
“Can I trust your words?” asked Emma with a probing look.
Xion raised an eyebrow with an annoyed expression. “You can trust him. If he said something he would do it. I will be the witness.”
“Very well,” said Emma. She heaved a sigh of relief.
“The one who can’t be trusted is you,” blurted Xion. “You always cheated whenever you got the chance. I’m not going to have any more race with you.”
Emma bit her lip. She had expected this to happen. Ahh .. what a shame, her friendship with Therius and Xion was ruined because of this, even though they still had 2.5 months together in the Coralia ship.
“Whatever,” said Emma stubbornly. She was willing to lose this friendship she had with Therius and Xion, as long as her future was guaranteed.
She would continue to carry out her role according to the agreement between herself and Therius. At least, she could feel relieved because five years from now, she would gain her freedom from the man. She would be able to leave Akkadia.
Hopefully, when that time came, Haoran would recover, and they could return to Thaesi together, to be with Emma’s biological family.
Then, just as Haoran promised her, Emma and Haoran would throw a real festive wedding to formalize their marriage. They would celebrate their love and share happiness with their loved ones.
Xion said no more. He prepared firewood, and Therius lit a fire. Not long after, the large fish that Emma caught was grilled over a fire. While Xion was cooking fish for their supper, Therius cleared the ground around them and put two blankets for him and Xion to rest.
Slowly, the Daneria sun started to set on the horizon, and they could enjoy a magnificent sunset.
Xion was right when he said that this tiny planet had 20 hours of light and 20 hours of darkness. When their grilled fish was ready to eat, the sky was already engulfed in darkness.
One by one, they saw stars in the night sky appearing and two yellowish moons rose above them, giving Emma a surreal feeling. Earth only had one tiny moon, these ones were bigger and looked so beautiful.
“This place is breathtaking,” Emma muttered to herself. She stood and looked at the sky. Ahh, what a paradise, she thought.
Xion cut a big chunk from the fish and put it on a big leaf. He handed it to Emma. “Eat first. Later you can admire the sky again.”
Emma was surprised by Xion’s attitude. At first, she thought Xion would act cold toward her and didn’t want to be nice anymore, since he felt cheated in their race earlier.
As it turned out, she was wrong. Xion still treated her as usual.
“Why are you suddenly becoming like a statue?” Xion asked in puzzlement. “You must eat a lot, so you don’t get cold.”
“Why should I be afraid of the cold?” asked Emma. She was a pyromancer. She could warm up her body if she wanted.
“The temperature here can drop very drastically at night time,” Xion explained.
“I can warm myself with pyromancy,” said Emma, shrugging.
“That’s right, you can even create a fire all night long if you want. I know that,” said Xion. “But it’s a waste to expend energy on unnecessary things. Your energy is precious. Use it on useful stuff.”
“Oh, okay …” Emma nodded. “You are right.”
She finally received the large piece of fish from Xion’s hand and sat on the blanket beside Therius and ate her share.
Inwardly, Emma felt a little relieved. She realized Xion’s attitude towards her didn’t change. The man just stated that he would never race with Emma again, but he was not rude or mean to Emma even though he said he felt cheated by her earlier.
Emma turned to Therius and studied the man’s side profile. Therius looked serious as usual. His expression didn’t change either. He looked disappointed and hurt a moment ago, but even he didn’t seem to change his treatment towards Emma.
Ugh … why don’t they get angry if they felt cheated? thought Emma, confused. She finally ate in silence and tried to turn her attention to the two beautiful moons decorated the night sky.
After they finished with supper, Therius took his turn, clearing up their trash and adding firewood to the fire, so that their bodies could stay warm as the night went on.
Emma felt sleepy again. She had taken a short nap, but their activities under the waterfall and the excitement during the race to catch fish had exhausted her body.
Ah … it should now be 2 am in her normal time. No wonder she was so sleepy.
“You can sleep on your air couch,” Therius said, pointing to the couch he’d prepared for Emma. “Xion and I will sleep on the ground with a blanket. It’s nicer that way for us.”
Emma let out two big yawns and nodded. “Hmm .. you are right. I want to change clothes first so I can have a comfortable sleep.”
Emma walked to take her backpack from the travs’ trunk. She took a loose top and wore it over her bathing suit that was already dried. She then sat on her nice couch and relaxed.
Ah .. she felt so full and sleepy. She would have a really nice sleep.
“Uhm, you better wear pants, something to cover your legs,” suggested Xion. “I think your assistant must have prepared warm clothes for you.”
“Uhm .. but isn’t it more comfortable sleeping in shorts?” asked Emma. She thought, as a woman, she knew her body well and how to sleep better.
“Yes, but the temperature here will be freezing in just a few hours,” Xion insisted. “If you’re stubborn, at least wrap yourself with your blanket to keep you warm.”
“Xion is right,” said Therius. He got up and took a jacket from the trunk of the travs, and handed it to Emma. “You can wear this jacket too. The material is specially made to handle the cold like in Daneria.”
Emma accepted the jacket with some hesitation, but she didn’t argue.
Ah, sure enough … After she put on the jacket and covered her lower body with the blanket, Emma immediately felt warm. She no longer needed to use her pyromancy to create heat.
“Why don’t you guys wear a jacket or a blanket yourself?” asked Emma. She just realized that the two young men were still wearing their shorts and looked so casual about the temperature when they both were just pestering her about keeping warm.
“We’re used to it,” said Xion with a shrug. “I live on a snow-capped mountain, and Therius came to visit and stayed with me often.”
Emma furrowed her brows. She suddenly remembered that earlier, when she was annoying Xion with the vine, he created an ice shard to cut the vine lose.
Was… Xion an ice mage?
Ah … that must be it! He already said he and Therius were both triple element mages. That means, besides controlling the air, Xion must also control ice.
So, what was his third element?
Emma knew Therius was a telemancer, pyromancer, and aeromancer. What about Xion?
Emma pursed her lips as she remembered that Xion said he had to kill Emma if he told her his secret.
Tsss.
“Okay .. I feel very sleepy. I’ll sleep first,” said Emma. “Wake me up, if you guys want to do something fun or hunting for food to eat.”
Xion and Therius both nodded in unison.
They didn’t sleep immediately. After Emma wrapped herself nicely with her blanket and rested on her comfortable couch, she fell asleep immediately. Therius and Xion changed into something comfortable as well and then lay their bodies on the ground.
They watched the starry night and conversed about what happened without a sound.
‘You said you will lose to her in five years? What bull shit is that?’ Xion massaged his temple.
‘I am a man. I have to keep my word.’ Therius closed his eyes and responded with a sad countenance.
