Finding Stardust - Chapter 164 Training With Xion
‘You know, I see you’ve changed a lot lately,’ said Xion as he turned his body and faced Therius. “Is it because you fall in love with her?”
“Yes,” Therius replied firmly. He still closed his eyes. His mind was filled with happiness as he reminisced the moment earlier today when he had the opportunity to hug Emma’s waist as he saved her from the water onslaught, and took her up in the air as she wrapped her hands around his neck.
Ah … when would he get another chance to hold her again? He could only sigh.
‘So, you do love her. Then why did you promise to admit defeat to her in five years?’ Xion asked. ‘By doing so, you will lose the opportunity to marry her.’
‘Xion, my goal is to promote peace between Thaesi and Akkadia, and ascend the throne as king. I need her by my side to patch things up. I think I’ll be able to achieve everything I want before five years have passed,’ said Therius. ‘Making Emma my wife is just a bonus. That’s not my main objective.’
‘Oh …’ Xion finally understood Therius’ point of view. ‘I thought you really wanted to marry her.’
‘I promised myself, I will never let love overcome me. I wouldn’t follow in my parents’ footsteps,’ said Therius. ‘My goal must be a priority. Even though today I gave in to her, it doesn’t mean I failed. In life, sometimes you have to take a step back to move multiple steps forward. We can lose to win. I promised to let her win in the future, but I still managed to get her to see our agreement through, until the end. I also discovered a secret that she had been hiding. So, I also gained something today. I found out Emma has six types of powers. Do you know what this means?’
Xion was amazed to hear Therius talking so much today. It was something that rarely happened.
Ah, listening to Therius talk, Xion realized that he was worried about his friend for nothing. Therius was not a weak man Xion should feel sorry for just because he was tricked by the woman he loved.
‘It means… Emma is The Princess That Was Promised?’ Xion asked in astonishment. ‘Do you believe in that myth?’
‘I don’t, but many Akkadian people do,’ said Therius. ‘We can use that to my advantage.’
Xion could imagine how it would roll out. Therius would announce his engagement to Emma, Princess Arreya and General Kaoshin Stardust’ daughter, a royalty from Thaesi, who happened to be the Princess That Was Promised from old Akkadian’s myth. People would see this future Akkadian king and queen as gods incarnate themselves.
‘Well. You know your people better.’ Xion finally nodded.
Actually, the man still had a lot of questions for Therius, but he held back. He felt that his friend would slowly share everything once the time was right.
Ah, Xion didn’t like playing chess or other strategy games. He was too lazy for them. However, he understood that Therius was a thinker who would definitely be able to determine the best move to achieve his goal. Even though he promised Emma that he would lose in their fight, he must have other plans up his sleeves.
What Xion knew for certain, Therius must now have learned not to underestimate Emma and all her tricks. She was not from Akkadia and didn’t care what other people think of her, as long as she got what she wanted. Therius should let those beautiful eyes and her pretty face to cloud his judgment.
***
When Emma stretched her arms and opened her eyes, it was still night time in Daneria. It took her a while to remember that night time in Daneria lasted for 20 hours. She didn’t know how many more hours until morning arrived.
“You’re awake?” A warm voice was heard from beside her.
Emma immediately turned around and found Xion, who was yawning wide and stretching his body. The man also just woke up.
“How much longer until the night ends?” asked Emma.
“In about 12 hours,” said Xion. He spread his gaze around. “But it doesn’t matter day or night, the two moons and stars up there are enough to light the ground.”
Emma looked up and confirmed Xion’s words. “You are right.”
She remembered some nights on Earth when the sky was clear, and they were having a full supermoon. Nighttime was bright enough that they could enjoy doing outdoor things like it was early morning or after sunset. It was even brighter now in Daneria since they had two giant moons above them.
RUSTLE
Emma turned to the direction of the sound and found Therius walking toward them from the middle of the savanna. He was holding a medium-sized animal. It was already dead.
“You went hunting without taking me …!” protested Emma.
“Hm … another time. You looked so tired, so we let you sleep,” said Xion hurriedly. “Later, when the sky is clear, I’ll take you hunting with me.”
Finally, Emma relented. “Then, let me cook this time.”
“No, now it’s Therius’ turn to cook. Let him do it. You can train with me,” said Xion. “One of the reasons we brought you out here is to let you train in the open.”
“All right …” Emma nodded. When she removed the blanket from her body, suddenly, Emma felt a chill piercing her bones.
Gosh… the temperature here went to below zero degrees Celsius. Xion was right when he told her to put on a blanket and jacket.
“Exercise will warm your body against this freezing temperature,” Xion commented. He rose from the ground and stretched his body once again. He then signaled for Emma to follow him. “You can fight me in the air, and I’ll give you some direction.”
“Wait … I’m thirsty,” said Emma. She took a glass and poured herself some water. When she finished drinking her water, she looked up to the sky and realized that it was such a beautiful sight.
She could really appreciate the light from the two moons that glowed brightly above them, the clear night sky, and the billions of stars that twinkled in the galaxies.
After a while, she also realized that her eyes had gotten used to their surroundings.
“Come get me! We will practice some attacks in the sky!” said Xon as he raised his hand and shot into the sky.
Emma nodded and immediately dashed after Xion. It wasn’t long before two shadows were seen chasing and attacking each other with the double moons as thebackground.
