Fire Mage - Chapter 670: Divine Pathway
Chapter 670: Divine Pathway
‘I want to know how the power levels of Divine Pathway work. Even though Udnir, Raphael, Emerson, and Miguel belonged to the same Demigod Rank, Udnir didn’t consider others a threat. And I’m also wondering how they differ from the Thirteen Churches’ Popes. Are they more powerful than Popes or on equal terms? And how strong I’m now?’ Questions whirled inside Charles’s head.
At the same time, he started eavesdropping on everyone’s conversation and gathering information about the True Lords groups.
After staying with them for a whole day, he learned about the other groups’ current situation.
Only Life and Amber Churches reached the Second Layer among the seven Churches. But for some unknown reason, Life Church withdrew from their exploration after reaching the Second Layer and chose to leave the Dungeon of Star Tombs. On the other hand, Amber Church and True Lords family groups departed from the Second Layer and came to the Third Layer around five days ago.
‘Fairchild, Hawthorne, and Pentagon families are still exploring the second layer and might come within a day or two. Before they arrive, Alistair and others seem to be planning on soloing the Boss Monster and moving to the fourth layer.’ But what startled him was that the True Lords group also seemed to have battled the Abyssal Hound and even lost two of their members!
‘After I killed the Abyssal Hound, it respawned? Now that I think about it, I also didn’t receive any wisdom points after killing it, right?’ He muttered inwardly and continued to speak with Rowan while following the leading group.
Whenever a battle happened, he didn’t reveal his magic spells and only used his sword skill, sub-class, and unique skills to battle against the magical beasts.
But even that was more than enough for everyone to recognize his strength.
Another thing that startled everyone was that Charles learned the ‘Blen’ Language at an incredible speed, causing everyone’s jaw to drop.
“You are a genius among geniuses, even in a world like Edhen.” Alistair could help but praise.
“Although his progression speed was still pale compared to Sun God, he has a good potential indeed.” Nyx also said, not giving any compliment.
“Humph, you hated that elven lad when he rose to power and even gave him trouble by sending an assassin just to test his strength, right? You got some nerve to bring his name here.” Alistair said coldly and continued.
“Don’t take Nyx’s words to heart, Charles. You are still young and have a bright future than all of us. One day, you might reach a higher realm and become a ruler of a powerful world.”
“I’m flattered by your words, Mr. Alistair. But my true goal is not to rule any world but reach the peak of strength.” Charles spoke perfectly in Blen’s Tongue, causing others to smile wryly.
“What a humble young lad. I’m envious of your parents. If I have a chance to meet them one day, I’ll present them with the most beautiful gem in our world as a token of my friendship.”
“Sorry to disappoint you, Mr. Alistair. Both died long ago, so your wish will never come true.” Charles said calmly and soon shook his head.
“So, how are you guys planning on defeating the Fallen Jinn? Won’t it be easy if you guys joined other groups you mentioned earlier to clear this layer?” He diverted the topic.
“Hmm? You guys don’t face limitation? Interesting. Only ten members can use the teleportation circle after defeating the boss monster in the first four layers. And once the Boss got killed, respawning would take more than a week. That’s why we always act separately. Although we were worried about how to defeat the third-layer boss monster, your presence here gives us lots of advantages.” Alistair said with a smile.
“I’m glad to help, Mr. Alistair,” Charles said with a nod and soon asked as he thought of something.
“So, how strong are the other groups? Are they also having the same strength as you guys? If you aren’t comfortable, you can choose not to say anything.”
“Hmm, it’s not a big secret. Pentagon is the strongest among the powerful families, with one Demigod-rank Expert and Seven Legend Rank Experts. Even those in Legend Ranks are more powerful than me.”
“Legend Rank? Demigod? Can you elaborate? In my world, there is a completely different ranking system.” Charles decided to create a fake world with the information he had from the Mystic Worlds game.
‘I’ll use the world map ranking of the Garden of Undead as a base.’ He muttered inwardly and spoke.
“In my world, the rank system is based on levels. The world will reward the Mystics with experience and strength for every level. We also have to go on adventures often and gain more experience to improve our life force. After every ten levels, the Mystics will reach a bottleneck and need a life-and-death experience, potions, or class gems to break it.” Upon hearing those words, Alistair was utterly shocked.
“A world with a unique level system, huh? So, what’s your current level?”
His sudden question surprised Charles.
‘If I’m a player, my level should be around 65 or 66. That’s because I still need to construct other spell models and almost rely on high wisdom power and artifacts.’
“My current level is 66. But I plan on reaching Level 70 in a decade or two.” He said with a firm tone.
“Hmm, if your strength is Level 66, mine should be only around 65 or 66,” Alistair said with a thoughtful look and soon added.
“And the one leading the Pentagon team leader’s strength should be around level 69 and had already achieved perfection in his law powers. Although he hadn’t reached the realm of Arch Class, he is still one of the top powerhouses in the Edhen World.”
“Arch Class?” Charles asked.
“Yes, Arch Class is considered Rank-7, but no one has yet reached that stage in Edhen World. We say Archwizard for Mages, Arch Warlords for Warlocks, and Arch Mystics for other classes. Other than Pentagon, the Fairchild team leader’s strength should also be Level 69. As for Hawthorne’s team leader, his strength shouldn’t be less than me.” Alistair explained.
“Then, what about the Demigod you mentioned earlier? I also sense a strange energy emitting from your heart. Is this the power of faith?” Charles’s question surprised Alistair again.
“So, your world has no gods, huh?” He gave him a deep look and soon let out a smile.
“You know the faith power, but not knowing about Demigod means you haven’t met any Gods yet. It’s not surprising. Even the world we came from had no gods before a few millenniums. This pathway is a ‘Divine Pathway,’ taboo in many worlds. Unlike Mages and Mystics, we use the power of faith to strengthen ourselves. And you can choose to follow this pathway whenever you want. But once you consume a particular divinity, it’s impossible to take it out.”
Upon noticing the puzzled look on his face, he let out a deep sigh and continued.
“For example, I consumed the ‘Divinity of Hunting’ and gained a DIvine skill called ‘Harvest Blessing.’ As long as an opportunity arises in the Dungeon, my skill can allow me to reap more rewards. And people call some who consumed one ‘Divinity’ as ‘Godkind.’ Although we are like normal people, we have the Divinity trump card and won’t die easily. The next rank of this pathway is called what we call ‘Demigod.’ They are people who consumed more than 5 Divinities of the same Domains and are already capable of forming the Peseudo Divine Kingdom. Due to this, their strength should vary from person to person. Someone with around 100,000 believers in his Divine Kingdom will be stronger than an average Legend Rank Mystic. But what if a Demigod has believers of 1 Million? 2 Million? Their strength should be almost equal to your own.”
“Can’t we just sneak into their Divine Kingdom and destroy the believers? That way, we can kill him easily, right?” This time, Rowan asked.
“No. The divine Kingdom is more like God’s personal Inner World. If you enter inside, it’s almost impossible to get out. Moreover, most believers within that divine Kingdom are also a big problem.” Nyx also joined the conversation.
“That’s why even if you Rank up to become an Archwizard, never pick up a fight with a Demigod or a True God and enter his Divine Kingdom recklessly,” Alistair said seriously and then continued.
“Although I don’t know how one becomes a Low God, I think it should be something to do with consuming more divinities of the same domain. The five families like Hawthorne, Fairchild, True Lords, Pentagon, and Holmes remain the top five powerful families in the Edhen world because every family has a ‘Demigod’ level powerhouse as a trump card.”
‘Heh, I thought only the Empires have Demigod-level powerhouses. Interesting.’
“So as long as I didn’t enter the Demigod’s Divine Kingdom, I can still stand on equally against a Demigod, right?” Charles asked.
“It’s better to stay the Demigod’s background before making such a move. What will you do if that Demigod has believers of Billions?”
At that moment, Charles thought of Udnir’s avatar.
‘He is indeed right.’
“Let’s go.”
Soon, Alistair changed direction and led everyone toward the east.
At that moment, the sun had descended, giving complete darkness to the surroundings.
“We will camp here,” Alistair said as they arrived near a group of acacia trees, desert lilies, and palm trees and then added.
“We are only 5 kilometers away from our original destination. Whether we should battle the Boss right after or later depends on the vote I will conduct tomorrow.”
