First of All, Let’s Hide My Younger Brother - Chapter 8.1
3. First Meeting
Finally, the day when I went, or transferred, to the boarding school approached.
Mother held my hand and wouldn’t let go of it for a while.
“If anything happens, send a messenger. We have gave you a lot of money, but if you’re ever short of it contact me.”
“Don’t worry, Mother. I ain’t a kid anymore.”
“Why can’t the Academy allow one escort for the aristocratic children?”
One has to git to the Kratier Academy alone, not even escorted by a maid.
“I am unable to sleep at night because I’m so worried about you, my daughter.”
Mother wiped away the tears under her eyes with her handkerchief, because she was very anxious to send her only daughter to a strange place.
“Honey, calm down. Kratier is the second safest place after the palace, thanks to the wizard’s barrier.”
My father, who was supposed to see me off to the station, couldn’t even get inside the carriage because he had to console my mother.
Franz saw me off with a red nose.
“Older sister, let’s switch back to how it was before if it is too hard on you. I’m used to using [Sitzuro] now and I’m confident I won’t get hit like before.”
Even though he said he wanted to be a knight, Franz vaguely thought his sister was sacrificing for him.
“You’re good, don’t worry about our parents.”
My palms patted Franz on the cheek.
“Okay. Sister. Don’t worry about me.”
Some thought I was taking Franz’s chances, others thought I was sacrificing for Franz.
But both were wrong. After all, it was for the purpose to live together with my family.
It wouldn’t be a bad thing for Franz either.
Would there be a better thing than to do what you wanted to do and live without going through rough times?
My father’s cariage drove off to the station.
Outside the window I could see Franz waving his hand and mother standing beside him.
I could see Franz’s face, who was about to cry.
Franz buried his face in mother’s shoulder as she was comforting him.
I was offended to watch the scene.
This poor child had to be wary of his surroundings, even while crying.
I was the only one who knew about everything, but I couldn’t say anything about what happened at his school.
I had a bitter taste inside my mouth.
***
It took about two hours from our mansion to the station. The road was well paved, so I arrived without having to suffer from motion sickness.
“Did you pack the transfer certificate? And the train tickets?”
After getting out of the carriage, father was anxious about this and that.
“It’s all in this bag. It’s okay, father.”
My father sighed when he heard me laughing while lifting up my small handbag.
“I’m still not sure if this is a good idea.”
My father’s gaze chased after the horseman and servant carrying my luggage. Jim said he was being loaded onto a freight train with a faster departure time.
“I’ll be right back, father.”
I turned away with my father watching me. The mood was quite calm.
No one will believe me even if I were to talk about my knowledgeof the future. There is no need to force the unconvinced to understand. It’s the flow of this world that I’ve learned of while reading the original in my previous life.
I could be satisfied just by Franz having [Sitzero]. Everything will change from here on.
I headed to the platform with hope and goodwill for the future that I created. The platform was quieter than in my previous life, because only people with train tickets could come here.
There were two types of trains available here at the station.
One was a steam engine train and the other one a magic train powered by magic stones. The magic train was a kind of warp concept that could arrive anywhere within five minutes.
The price of a ticked for the magic train was 100 times higher than that of the steam engined train, so even the nobles could not ride it often.
That’s why I saw many aristocrats trying to ride the steam engined train like me. Perhaps this is the only train station where you can see commoners and nobles in one place.
At this time, a shout of admiration was heard from the crowd filling the platform.
“It’s a magic train!
“I’ve never seen one in real life before.”
“Daddy, look over there! Hey! That’s the magic train!”
Where the people gathered was a train radiating sparkling light.
The exclusive rail on which the magic train runs was cut in the air in the form of a vertical rise from the ground. I wondered how that train ran in the sky.
As expected, the magic train ran fast on the rail, scattering light like stars in all directions.
“I’m running in the sky!”
“Wow, that’s cool.”
