Fix Smile Order - CH 111
More than a hundred people were imprisoned in the cells of the Tongling County’s government office; it was overcrowded all at once.
Tang Tianyuan planned to solve this case as soon as possible. Otherwise, with so many people, they would have to spend a lot of money to keep these prisoners fed every day. He didn’t have that much money to spare.
Before the interrogation, however, he had to do one thing. In order for Tan Lingyin to witness his brilliance, Tang Tianyuan took her with him.
Tan Lingyin looked downcast; she was completely different from the daytime. Tang Tianyuan only thought she was sleepy. But after thinking about it, he was not sleepy at all when he saw her, but she was so sleepy when she saw him, which made him feel a slight resentment.
“What’s wrong?” Tang Tianyuan asked. If she was really sleepy, he’ll let her go back to sleep first.
“I’m fine, you can do your work first.” Tan Lingyin replied. She lowered her head uncomfortably and did not look at him.
Tang Tianyuan asked suspiciously, “Tell me, what’s going on?” This girl became so cold after going back to calm down.
Tan Lingyin didn’t know how to begin. In addition, there was someone else present, so she could only say, “Didn’t you say you have something to do tonight? Let’s prioritize work first.”
Tang Tianyuan looked serious. “Your business is my top priority.”
Zheng Shaofeng, who was their third wheel, cursed slightly. This rascal was too good at chasing girls, why is he not as glib as him?!
Tang Tianyuan saw that Tan Lingyin refused to speak, but she clearly had something on her mind. Tang Tianyuan glanced at Zheng Shaofeng, his eyes couldn’t be any more obvious.
Zheng Shaofeng jumped onto the roof. He sat on the roof and listened to what the two lovebirds were struggling with.
“Can we talk now?” Tang Tianyuan asked. He really couldn’t bear her current indifference, it made him feel extremely uncomfortable.
In contrast, Tan Lingyin didn’t feel uncomfortable at all. After she returned to the Southern Study to calm down, she remembered an important matter: Wasn’t he going to get married?
Then what they were doing now was improper…
“Are you going to marry the daughter of the assistant minister of the Ministry of Rites?” Tan Lingyin asked in a low voice.
It turned out to be because of this. Tang Tianyuan breathed a sigh of relief, and then replied with a smile, “What kind of person do you think I am? Am I someone who will eat out of a bowl while still looking at what’s in the pot?”
Hearing his reply, Tan Lingyin unconsciously lightened her voice, “Then what’s going on here. You have to make it clear.”
“My father is looking to arrange a marriage for me. However, the betrothal gift has not yet been decided. I have already written back to him, telling him to hold off on this matter.”
These couple simple sentences had cleared up all the previous messy rumors. Tan Lingyin was slightly startled, “But they didn’t all say…”
“Those are all false statements, just believe me.” Tang Tianyuan said. He held Tan Lingyin’s shoulders with both hands, and looked at her with an earnest expression.
Tan Lingyin’s cheeks became slightly hot from his stare. “Of course– Of course I believe you… Now I know, it must have been difficult for you to catch the attention of the assistant minister of the Ministry of Rites. So all of your servants must be very excited.”
Still on the roof, Zheng Shaofeng covered his stomach and laughed silently at Tan Lingyin’s words. ‘Tang Tianyuan was ‘having difficulty’ getting the attention of an assistant minister from the Ministry of Rites?’ What kind of bean sprout of a position was a servant from the Ministry of Rites? This was the best joke he’s heard this year!
Below, Tang Tianyuan was also in between laughter and tears as he replied, “Yes! Yes! Yes! Anyways, they are talking nonsense, so don’t believe it.” It would be bad if the two of them had a rift because of those absurd rumors.
Tan Lingyin pouted her lips. “Then why did you praise her in front of me, saying that she’s better than me?”
“I was wrong,” Tang Tianyuan’s attitude of admitting his mistake was particularly good. “She is not as good as you. No one is as good as you.” Seeing Tan Lingyin’s mouth curled up happily under the moonlight, he couldn’t help but feel a little flutter. Tang Tianyua leaned down, ready to kiss her.
Suddenly, there was a shout on the roof, “Who’s there?!”
The two sweethearts, who were about to kiss, were startled and looked around warily.
Tan Lingyin saw a head protruding from the roof, but it was one of their people.
Zheng Shaofeng supported himself on the eaves, lowered his head and said to them, “You guys continue.” Afterwards, he retracted his head. In the dark night, there were visible sounds of his wild footsteps, as if chasing something.
Tang Tianyuan initially wanted to go with him. However, soon he thought this may be their enemy’s plan to attract the tiger away from its mountain; they could be trying to lure them out of their own territory. Zheng Shaofeng was good at martial arts, so he should have no problem protecting himself.
Tan Lingyin was still puzzled. “What’s going on? Are we waiting for these people tonight? Should we follow? What if Lord Tang can’t handle it by himself?”
“It’s okay, he’s good at martial arts.”
“He’s also skilled in martial arts? As expected of Tang Tianyuan.” Tan Lingyin praised.
“…” Tang Tianyuan suddenly felt very stuffy.
It turned out that the other party was not as cautious as Tang Tianyuan expected; they didn’t play any tricks.
Zheng Shaofeng came back cursing. “Mother f*cker, each of them ran faster than fleeing rabbits. I didn’t catch any of them!”
“No matter. They don’t dare to come again for the time being. Let’s hurry up and interrogate.”
Tan Lingyin followed Tang Tianyuan into the cells. She asked quietly next to him, “Who are those people? They couldn’t have wanted to silence these bandits, right?”
Tang Tianyuan stopped. He tapped her forehead lightly and quickly withdrew his hand, “Clever.”
Tan Lingyin rubbed her forehead in embarrassment and giggled.
Zheng Shaofeng really, really couldn’t stand it anymore. It would have been better if these two people showed their affection in front of him on purpose. He would then beat each of them up enough for them to act properly. But they didn’t do it on purpose. Even a glance unintentionally brought sparks; every little action they did blinded the bystanders.
In order to avoid being dazzled again, Zheng Shaofeng took the initiative to help Tang Tianyuan bring the bandit leader over.
Due to the large population of prisoners and the small number of available cells, Duan Feng, as the bandit leader, did not enjoy the treatment of having his own cell. There were several people who were locked up in the same cell as him.
When Zheng Shaofeng entered, he found that everyone else was staying close to the wall; keeping a distance from Duan Feng.
Zheng Shaofeng lamented that this was probably the demeanor of a boss. Even if he became a prisoner, he would show the other prisoners who was on top of the pecking order.
