Flash Marriage with My Ex-Boyfriend’s Nemesis - Chapter 10.2
Shen Zhiqian paid for the blood test as Ning Qingqing sat on the chair. After taking the receipt, the man wanted to keep carrying her, so she went ahead to the blood testing room in advance.
“Brother Chen, we are a bit conspicuous standing here–” Zhou Linghang deliberately stood in front of Gu Youchen in fear that Shen Zhiqian would find Brother Chen coveting his girlfriend.
Fortunately, Gu Youchen did not continue moving forward and stood in place instead as he took out his phone.
He sent a message directly to Ning Qingqing: “I was in the hospital just now; I think I saw you?”
After Ning Qingqing drew her blood, she went to the resting area with Shen Zhiqian. She felt her phone vibrate. She picked it up and saw that the message was from Gu Youchen.
She sighed in her heart, alas, she was still seen, so embarrassing!
She replied: “En, I caught a fever, so I came for a check-up.”
Gu Youchen breathed a sigh of relief after seeing her reply: “Is the temperature high? Did you catch a cold from the cooling weather when you got off work yesterday?”
Ning Qingqing responded: “Well, it should be because I didn’t pay attention to the weather change last night. It’s only 38 degrees, I don’t actually need to come to the hospital. It’s my boyfriend who insisted that I come to check.”
Gu Youchen saw the last part of the sentence, and his eyes darkened.
On the side, Zhou Linghang was always monitoring his expression and seeing the change he couldn’t think of how to persuade him, so he could only say: “Brother Chen, you also saw that she has a boyfriend. Even if we want to worry about her, it’s not our place to do so.”
“Yeah.” Gu Youchen responded dully, walked to a seat in the waiting area, and sat down: “You go back first, I’ll sit here for a while.”
How could Zhou Linghang be willing to go? But knowing that Gu Youchen wanted to be alone, he nodded: “Fine, then I will go back upstairs to Old Qin’s to chat for a bit. Call me when you’re ready to leave.”
“En.” Gu Youchen nodded.
On the other side, the blood test results finally came out. Ning Qingqing caught a viral cold. The doctor advised her to go home and rest for two days after finishing the IV drip and to take her medicine on time.
The doctor attached the drip for her. The IV area was separated into individual rooms where you can sleep. Ning Qingqing lay down, and Shen Zhiqian kept watch on her side.
He was obviously busy; in just this short moment he already answered two or three work calls.
“Qingqing, sleep first, and I’ll go outside to make a few calls.” Shen Zhiqian was afraid of disturbing Ning Qingqing’s rest so went to the outside hall.
Ning Qingqing nodded. She was lying on the bed and trying to keep herself from falling asleep so that she wouldn’t mix up her sleep schedule and end up unable to sleep at night.
At this moment, there was a sound of movement at the door. She turned her head: “You’re done with your call—”
Before she finished speaking, she discovered that the person at the door turned out to be Gu Youchen.
“You—” she asked suspiciously, “why are you here?”
Gu Youchen didn’t answer the question, but asked, “Is it a common cold or a viral cold?”
Ning Qingqing replied, “It’s viral. The virus probably managed to take advantage when my immunity was weak.”
“En, my friend is also taking an IV drip here.” Gu Youchen explained, his eyes falling on Ning Qingqing’s cheeks. After a while, he said, “Rest well, I’ll leave now.”
Ning Qingqing nodded.
Right as Gu Youchen got to the door, he saw Shen Zhiqian walk over.
The man still had the phone in his hand and said to the other end of the phone in a low voice, “Sorry, wait a moment. Something suddenly came up on my end. I’ll get back to you later.”
After that, he frowned and looked at Gu Youchen who was standing at the entrance of Ning Qingqing’s ward, his eyes were cold: “Why are you here?”
Having said that, he quickly walked past Gu Youchen and to Ning Qingqing’s bedside, and asked, “Qingqing, did anything happen?”
Ning Qingqing shook her head.
This was the first time she got to see Shen Zhiqian and Gu Youchen meet face to face, and finally experience the hostile tension1 between the two.
She suddenly had a thought—
Why did Gu Youchen always appear around her after returning to China? Once or twice could be a coincidence, but as the occurrences increased, even she started to have misgivings.
Furthermore, the other party even gave her his number with no rhyme or reason and asked for hers in return.
Could it be because he needs to deal with Shen Zhiqian, so he started his attack by targeting her?
Suspicion flashed in her eyes, and she looked at Gu Youchen who was at the door.
With just one look, Gu Youchen could guess what Ning Qingqing was thinking.
An inexplicable sadness welled up at the bottom of his heart. It felt like being stabbed by something sharp, and it stung.
“Sorry, I walked into the wrong room.” He said dully.
After that, his eyes quickly withdrew from Ning Qingqing.
Shen Zhiqian’s eyes were sharp. He stood in front of Ning Qingqing as if he was guarding against some kind of flood or beast.
Coincidently at this moment, Gu Youchen’s phone rang, and he swiped to answer: “You guys are in the ward? Okay, I’ll head over right away.”
After answering, he left.
From his words, it didn’t seem like he was acting, but Shen Zhiqian still watched until the other party left. Only after did he turn to Ning Qingqing and asked, “Qingqing, he didn’t say anything when he came in just now, right?”
Ning Qingqing shook her head: “No, he probably just lost his way.”
She herself was inexplicably relieved.
It seems that she overthought. Although she didn’t have much contact with Gu Youchen, she still felt that the other party was not like the scheming and ruthless man in the rumors.
But no matter what, her relationship with Shen Zhiqian may have already entered a countdown, and when the time comes, the grievances between Shen Zhiqian and Gu Youchen will no longer have anything to do with her.
