Floating Immortal Order - Chapter 269: Should We Just... Bail?
In just half an hour, Lu Xiuzhu, Sun Yangping, Zhao Feibai, and others returned one after another, each leading several Divine Core stage and dozens of Dao Foundation stage cultivators. They were covered in the strong scent of blood but all wore faces of joy, clearly having reaped great rewards from their simultaneous cleansing of several small-scale forces.
Upon seeing Passing Epoch Spirit Master Shao Huangnian and his companions on the other celestial turtle, the returnees were momentarily taken aback but quickly composed themselves. They didn’t ask any unnecessary questions and instead performed courteous greetings before quietly standing by Xu Disheng’s side, remaining silent.
Shao Huangnian looked deeply at the peak Divine Core stage Spirit Masters beside Xu Disheng and praised, “Daoist Brother, your leadership is indeed admirable.”
“Not at all, I’ve just been acting according to the situation,” Xu Disheng modestly replied, looking towards the direction of the Profound Sky Sword Sect. “Elder Qi Taiqing of the Profound Sky Sword Sect, despite being only at the initial stage of the Primordial Spirit realm, is an extremely rare body and sword cultivator. Our venture there might carry some risks.”
“If he wasn’t such a formidable body and sword cultivator, how could we demonstrate our unparalleled courage in slaying a Primordial Spirit stage cultivator?” Shao Huangnian said with high spirits, laughing heartily as he urged his giant celestial turtle forward, breaking through the clouds first.
A hint of fighting spirit also surfaced in Xu Disheng’s eyes, something which hadn’t appeared in a while. His robe shone with a moon-white halo, and the barrier-like sheen of the Dawndusk Spiritual Essence enveloped his body, making his indifferent gaze seem frosty and cold. He appeared aloof and detached from the world, handsome and ethereal.
The two celestial turtles pierced through the clouds, one following the other, swiftly heading towards the Profound Sky Sword Sect located more than 8,000 kilometers away.
…
Under the Dawndusk Daoist Alliance’s severe terms of subjugation, many sects and clans located further away had already received word. They were powerless to resist and were urgently planning to relocate away from the Dawndusk and Mang Mouintain Territories.
These two large Territories were now completely overshadowed by the Dawndusk Daoist Alliance. The eight peak-level forces, under the coercion of Heavenly Lord Mo Yu, had united to reveal their cruel and ruthless fangs, tearing apart many centuries’ worth of mutual agreements between forces. They were out to assimilate or destroy all other forces, showing no mercy or reason—an utmost display of ruthlessness.
However, the Dawndusk Territory was vast, over ten times larger than the Shan Mountain Territory where the Shangqing Sacred Sect was located. Without long-distance teleportation arrays, quickly leaving the Dawndusk Territory was practically an impossible task.
In the Profound Sky Sword Sect…
“Elder Qi, the Sect Master requests your presence,” a Dao Foundation stage young man in black, standing respectfully outside a grand and luxurious hall, said softly.
Inside the hall meditating was Qi Taiqing, the Elder of the Profound Sky Sword Sect, whose ascension to the Primordial Spirit stage had been the backbone of the sect’s rise to its status as a large-scale sect.
A stern voice from within the hall commanded, “Let the Sect Master enter.”
“Yes, Elder Qi,” the young man turned to the Spirit Master standing outside the hall, Qu Xinming, and respectfully said, “The Sect Master may enter.”
Qu Xinming nodded and entered the hall.
“Elder Qi, based on the route the Supervising Primordial Lord from the Dawndusk Daoist Alliance responsible for our area is taking, our Profound Sky Sword Sect will have to confront them within 1 day’s time. They are currently engaging the Qingfeng Monastery, and we don’t have much time left,” Qu Xinming reported.
Elder Qi Taiqing sighed, “Is the sect prepared for relocation?”
Qu Xinming affirmed, “We are almost ready and can leave very soon. We will travel night and day to the Spirit Crane Territory.”
“I had hoped to lead the Profound Sky Sword Sect to new heights after reaching the Primordial Spirit stage. Yet, we are now forced to leave our ancestral land of nearly ten thousand years due to this upheaval. I cannot accept this,” Qi Taiqing said as he gazed outside, imagining the Qingfeng Monastery as it met utter destruction. “The Dawndusk Daoist Alliance’s terms are no different from extermination. We have no choice but to flee and plan our next steps.”
Qu Xinming nodded, relieved, “Fortunately, our sect is far from the Dawndusk Daoist Alliance’s core area, giving us some time to prepare for escape. Those sects closer to them had to face unexpected annexation or destruction, millennia of heritage coming to an end overnight. It’s truly a tragedy.”
Their conversation was abruptly cut short by the roars of two half-step Primordial Spirit stage turtle beasts echoing across the sky of the Profound Sky Sword Sect!
Qu Xinming’s expression changed as he dismissed his most terrifying guesses. “Impossible! The Supervising Primordial Lord assigned to our path is still entangled with the Qingfeng Monastery. How could they have arrived here so quickly?” he exclaimed.
“It’s not them. There’s no Primordial Spirit realm presence. It’s not the Supervising Primordial Lord,” Qi Taiqing said, probing with his divine consciousness. His face filled with rage as he stood up abruptly and shouted, “Two half-step Primordial Spirit realm spiritual beasts, dozens of Divine Core stage cultivators, and hundreds of Dao Foundation stage cultivators!”
“Then we…?” Qu Xinming asked, anger and a hint of murderous intent arising.
Qi Taiqing said coldly, “We, the Profound Sky Sword Sect, are a large sect with a Primordial Spirit stage existence. These barbarians have gone too far! Gather all our forces immediately, eliminate the invaders swiftly, and then relocate at once!”
As a rare Primordial Spirit stage body and sword cultivator, Qi Taiqing’s combat power was formidable, capable of easily sweeping aside dozens of Divine Core stage cultivators. This was also the source of his confidence.
The Profound Sky Sword Sect also had dozens of Divine Core stage Spirit Masters, including several half-step Primordial Spirit realm beings, and nearly a thousand Dao Foundation stage cultivators. By any measure, the invading Divine Core stage cultivators should stand no chance against them.
“Daoist Brother, we previously focused only on Qi Taiqing. The intelligence had some discrepancies, and we seem to have underestimated the true strength of the Profound Sky Sword Sect,” Shao Huangnian said as he observed the dazzling sword lights emerging from within the sect, his expression growing slightly grave. “The number of Divine Core stage body and sword cultivators is unexpectedly high. Besides you and me, our group of ordinary Divine Core stage cultivators wouldn’t last three strikes.”
Those who had been fervently flattering him earlier now looked terrified, shutting their mouths tight. One even suggested in a trembling voice, “Passing Epoch Spirit Master, given the unexpected strength of the Profound Sky Sword Sect, perhaps we should retreat for now?”
