Forbidden Zone of the Human Race - Chapter 432: Team Independent
Xiang Ning walked over to a screen in the hall that displayed notices and rewards. To his surprise, there was even an auction.
There were different ranks of hunters, too. Purchasing information and taking jobs required specific minimum ranks which were a way to protect the hunters and ensure the completion of tasks.
The ranks were Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Legendary.
The ranks weren’t individual, but team ranks. A Silver team could kill a tier four Beast General and below, a Gold team can kill a tier five Beast General, Platinum tier six, Diamond tier seven, and Legendary tier eight. As for why there was no tier nine, that was because there hadn’t been a team that could kill a tier nine Beast Emperor in this world yet.
The jobs available required Silver as the minimum tier and every team required at least two people, but there was no upper limit.
The Kunlun region was chock-a-block with Beast Generals, its difficulty level far beyond many other regions. Compared to Hang City, the threat these beasts posed were two or three levels higher.
“Good morning, are you a new hunter here?” While Xiang Ning was reading the screen, he heard a bold female voice.
Xiang Ning turned and was surprised by what he saw. This girl gave a more easy-going feeling than any girl he’d met, wearing only two layers in the cold weather. She had bronze skin and hair the color of brown flaxseed. The energy she exuded inspired admiration.
“Mm, yes.” Xiang Ning nodded. Being a newcomer, it was best to be friendly. Seeing as the girl seemed chatty, she would be a good person to ask questions.
“Haha, that’s great! My name is Ye Lingling!” The girl held out her hand and grinned, revealing a small canine tooth. She was cute.
Xiang Ning smiled and shook her hand. “I’m Xiang Ning, nice to meet you.”
“Hahaha, are you interested in joining Team Independent? Let me tell you, my team is very powerful.”
“Huh? Team Independent?” The sudden offer surprised Xiang Ning.
“Yeah, Team Independent. These days, newcomers need some experience before they’re allowed into stronger teams. They need you to have strength and weapons and everything, but if we had those, why would we even look for them in the first place, right? That’s why we formed our own team! Team Independent!” Ye Lingling vented without reservation.
“Hahaha, Little Lingling, are you still trying to recruit newcomers? Your team’s a mess, anyone with some sense won’t want to join you guys. Your success rate for simple Silver-ranked jobs isn’t even one-third, who’d want to join you?”
“YOU!” Ye Lingling bristled like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.
“Haha, kid, you look young. Are you even tier three, six-star? If so, I can recommend a team for you. They’re lacking a runner.”
He wasn’t mocking Xiang Ning, it was just reality. Tier three people were only qualified to fight some weaker beasts when they went out with their teams so that the main members of the team could focus on killing their targets.
One must know that a Beast General was usually surrounded by many Beast Soldiers. Usually, tier three members needed some time to build experience, and were only considered true members when they reached tier four.
Many people were tempted.
“Hi Brother, I’m tier three, six-star. Could you tell me more?”
“You? You’re a fragile flower! I’m one star lower than you and you can’t even beat me. And you’re going to apply for the job?”
Xiang Ning grew more confused as more people gathered around.
“Uh… so… what do you… think?” Ye Lingling seemed defeated like she had been busted for lying. “Really, it doesn’t matter what your tier is. As long as you successfully register, we welcome you.”
Xiang Ning wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry. He wanted to be a lone wolf but it was very tiresome working alone, even though it was possible. He would need more than a month to grind before being able to take better jobs. He only had a year there; he couldn’t waste a month.
“But I haven’t completed registration yet. I’ll join you when I’m done,” he said.
“Huh? You haven’t?” Ye Lingling was surprised because she saw him walking from the registration counter, thinking he was done, but.…
“Haha, Little Lingling, are you recruiting people who haven’t registered yet? Non-registered members can’t join teams, you know.”
That time, the crestfallen Ye Lingling didn’t speak.
Then they heard a commotion on the other side of the hall. The young lady who had served Xiang Ning emerged with a tall middle-aged man. He had a crew cut and a scar on his face. At first glance, he looked menacing, but he was actually friendly.
“Ah, Uncle Bo!”
“Morning, Uncle Bo!”
“You look energetic today, Uncle Bo!”
“Haha, good morning, good morning,” the man called Uncle Bo replied.
Ye Lingling spoke with a voice filled with admiration, “Uncle Bo used to be the captain of a Diamond level team. He’s a legendary Sect Master who killed a tier eight Beast King before! He’s also the Chairman of the Hunters Guild, I wonder why he’s here?”
Ye Lingling worshiped him.
“He killed a tier eight Beast King? A legendary Sect Master?” Xiang Ning’s eyes lit up.
When everyone wondered why the prominent figure was out, he suddenly turned to leave.
Many people were puzzled. Only Xiang Ning knew that the Sect Master was looking at him with an unreadable expression. What was that about? Xiang Ning didn’t know him.
The lady didn’t mind. She returned to her post and motioned Xiang Ning over.
“Hello, please keep your Hunter’s Badge safe. Also, please go to Room 209 on the second floor.…”
Xiang Ning was confused. What was the matter?
But before he could ask, the lady called for the next customer.
“Hmm? Have you registered?” Ye Lingling asked with bright eyes, not wanting him to leave.
He thought for a while. “How many people are there on your team?”
“If you join, we’ll have four!”
“Oh, how strong are you guys?”
“I’m tier three, five-star. The other two are tier three, two-star, but believe me, they’re very good. They work very hard and have great potential.” Ye Lingling gazed at him longingly.
