Forbidden Zone of the Human Race - Chapter 439: Don't Move
Xiang Ning nodded. It was his first time witnessing such a magnificent landscape. When they saw him nod, the siblings privately sighed in relief, though they were slightly worried. They were relieved because they thought it meant it was Xiang Ning’s first time in the wilderness, and worried because, if this was his first time, he might get into danger and fail the mission. The sweetsop was too important for them.
“Last week, when we were here on a job, we found a tier four Silver Sparrow. It had built a nest in the canyon, and in the nest, we saw a branch with sweetsop growing on it. The rhombus purple leaves on the branch were very obvious, and that means it was almost ripe. I think it should have ripened by now.”
The group descended into the canyon, then looked up at a spot about fifty-odd meters above them. There, they could faintly make out a hidden bird nest.
“Can you see it? That’s the one,” said Ye Lingling, pointing at the nest.
Xiang Ning nodded, prepared to personally pluck the fruit. It would be faster and he could avoid the siblings getting hurt, right? But a huge sense of danger surged through him, and based on very faint sounds and the information he received from Combat Instinct, they were being targeted.
“Look, what’s that in the sky?” Then, Ye Lingling and her brothers all looked up while Xiang Ning bent his neck. All of them dodged four silver needles. Although they were small, they all felt the needles brush past them.
Ye Ming rubbed his neck, confused, and felt a chill. “What was that? A bug?”
Ye Lingling was not in the mood to scold her brother. He was always the most energetic, but he was the dumbest when it came to critical emergencies.
“Who is it?!” Ye Lingling’s expression changed, then she looked at Xiang Ning, completely forgetting to ask what he was pointing at.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk. I can’t believe you guys dodged the needles. I’ve got to admit you’re a bunch of lucky people,” sneered a tall, thin man, emerging from the shadows.
“Dancing Dragon Guild, Ya Wen?!” Ye Lingling went pale when she saw them, then suspiciously eyed Xiang Ning. She knew she had never talked to the people of the Dancing Dragon Guild. Why were they here? And the way they were ‘accidentally’ looking upward, they were obviously there for the sweetsop.
“Hehe. Lingling, it’s quite dangerous here. It’s best you all leave,” Ya Wen chuckled, but his mocking expression was clear.
“You… you wouldn’t!”
“Or what? Or what?”
“Ya Wen, don’t waste your time with her. If you aren’t leaving, you can stay and play with us. I heard fucking in the wild is very fun.”
Ye Lingling was used to their provocative tone as she’d had a lot of run-ins with coarse men like them. She was immune to their words. But her two brothers didn’t have as much willpower. When they heard the men humiliating their sister, they exploded in rage, shouting, “What the hell did you say?”
“Hehe, that kid’s a fiery one,” Ya Wen coldly snickered. They were tier four martial artists, they could easily beat twice the number of these children.
“Lingling, I’ll let you go, seeing as we’ve got a nice thing going on. If you don’t, no one will know if you die out here.”
Ye Lingling bit her lip. She was never going to give up that sweetsop because it was a matter of life and death to her family. If she left, they would die.
“Xiang Ning… you should go. I’m sorry, you might not get the fruit.” Ye Lingling unsheathed her longsword.
Ye Ming and Ye Xuan both took out their weapons, but based on the disparity in cultivation and their numbers, Xiang Ning didn’t think they could win.
“Go? Why would I leave?”
“You… of course, you’re with them!” She wasn’t sure before, but now she was sure that Xiang Ning was their spy.
Xiang Ning was very confused. Why would you think I’m with them? But with his intelligence, he immediately understood. But he didn’t feel like explaining anything so he said, “Aren’t we a team? How can I abandon you guys when you’re in danger?”
There were six enemies, and he was very confident in his ability to defeat them. He didn’t even need to use the Devourer, he could beat them with his bare fists.
“You—” Ye Ming obviously hadn’t expected Xiang Ning to say that, though Ye Lingling interrupted, “You should go. This has nothing to do with you, you didn’t see anything.”
Despite Ye Lingling’s knowing look, Xiang Ning shook his head. Even if he returned to the fortress, he would first need to find someone willing to help them, then the traveling itself would waste too much time. It was too troublesome.
“Don’t worry, it’s just these few guys. I can deal with them.” He shrugged, but his words sounded too arrogant to the men.

They only generated about two hundred Fury Points each, so they all must only be average fighters. They weren’t even qualified to waste his time.
“Hahaha, are you joking, kid? Deal with us? I can still smell the milk on your breath!”
“Brother Ya Wen, let’s just finish them off. If the bitch doesn’t want to leave, she can get what she wished for!”
Xiang Ning sighed. Why did people like them speak such nonsense? “If you’re going to fight, hurry up! Why do you have to talk so much? I’m losing patience!”
“Fucking child!” Ya Wen swung his fist.
Tier four was incomparably stronger than tier three, hence Ye Lingling was alarmed by the power he held. If she were in Xiang Ning’s place, she could barely take the hit, and if he struck a few more times, she definitely couldn’t hold on.
Xiang Ning was barely interested in that slow, weak fist.
To the others, he must have looked afraid because he stood there without moving. When the punch was about to hit him, Xiang Ning shouted, as if afraid, and crouched.
When the rest couldn’t see, Xiang Ning tripped him so he fell into the dirt.

“Dammit!”
Ya Wen looked up, seething with anger, his teammates about to charge forward. Then five blades shot out from behind Xiang Ning, buzzing through the air.
Xiang Ning didn’t speak, just activated the Sovereign’s Throne.
“What’re you waiting—” Before he could finish, a knife was pressed against his neck and he gulped. It was just a light touch, but his skin was already sliced open and bleeding.
