Forbidden Zone of the Human Race - Chapter 482: Six Months
Bo Yan didn’t give up. He contacted one of his best friends, another tier eight sect master. Unfortunately, Xiang Ning’s current position wasn’t in an area they could reach in a short time; it would take them years to get there. Even though he had provisions within his dimensional ring, there wasn’t enough to last years.
Months passed by in a flash and the military had taken over the ruins. Access has been restricted as the monsters were dangerous. Ordinary martial artists could no longer explore the region. Even Dong Qianyi had almost died to a stray Qiuros.
The Federation finally took over after they learned that one of the Twelve Prodigies had almost died. They sent a tier nine sect master to guard the entrance of the ruins. Including Bo Yan, the Federation had also sent seven other tier eight martial artists and thirty tier seven martial artists. With so many strong individuals gathered there, the alpha beast of the area was alerted to their presence.
But due to the presence of a tier nine sect master, the alpha didn’t bother attacking them and left. The area they were in was a region that beasts wouldn’t want to enter anyway.
Time continued passing. Soon, it had been six months since Xiang Ning had gone missing in the ruins. Even if Dong Qianyi didn’t want to admit it, the lack of any communication from his disciple more or less meant that he was dead.
Back in Marsh City, Fang Rou’s father, Fang Zhenyuan, was the first to receive the news that Xiang Ning was dead. He’d learned about the disappearance within the first month and had kept the news from reaching Fang Rou’s ears. But it had been half a year! Even if he wanted to deny it, there were no other explanations.
His communicator rang and he saw it was Dong Qianyi. “How is it? Did you find him?”
Dong Qianyi remained silent and Fang Zhenyuan realized that his deepest fear had come true. He stood up from his chair and startled his assistant. The assistant wanted to ask what was wrong, but the pressure from Fang Zhenyuan was pushing him away.
“Fuck!” Fang Zhenyuan was furious and frustrated. He restlessly paced back and forth as his face turned red.
The assistant saw how bad it was, but didn’t know how to console him. He was also thinking about what could’ve made the sect master so angry.
In the end, Fang Zhenyuan just slumped back into his chair and sighed, “How am I going to tell them?” His eyes were forlorn and blank.
Back in the ruins, Xiang Ning was left with just his underwear as he showered. His transformation was drastic, his muscles much more toned and defined. He was also much more mature after having been subjected to numerous training from hell. It was training that he had needed so much. If he could release 100% of his strength previously, his body was now capable of releasing 120% of his strength. He had undergone a complete metamorphosis.
No one knew what he had gone through within those six months. Even if someone asked they wouldn’t have believed him. In just half a year he had almost died eleven times, but he gritted his teeth and pulled through all of them at the last second. His strength and willpower were naturally very superior to what they were six months earlier.
Level: Tier six, three-star martial artist
Mental Power: Tier six, three-star spiritual cultivator
The cultivation he had obtained was earned through hard work and dedication. He hadn’t relied on the system. He also realized that he could only exhibit 50% of whatever the system gave him. Thanks to the overpowered techniques and the method to easily master them in the form of Fury Points, he was much stronger than his peers.
In the past, he was like someone that had indigestion and couldn’t fully break down their food to completely utilize the nutrients. Another example would be a caveman receiving a sniper rifle, but using it like a club instead.
But as of now, his body was fully capable of using what he had. He was now 1.85 meters tall, a distinct difference from his previous 1.78 meters. His face no longer looked childish, but instead rugged and strong. His body, once slender, was now toned and defined.
Only those who were close to Xiang Ning would realize the change in him.
Currently, he didn’t know what had happened in the outside world, but he knew that they would be worried about him since he wasn’t even able to send out a message. But there was nothing he could do. Not only was his communication device rendered useless, but even his dimensional ring was also inert within this space. The technology of the Hairo Empire was too advanced!
“Congratulations on the completion of your missions. Due to your stellar achievements and progress, I’ll now adjust the difficulty of your subsequent training.”
Xiang Ning hadn’t heard that electronic voice for more than two months and swore like a madman. After the torture he had gone through for six months, he’d more or less accepted his fate. Still, he was satisfied with his growth as he could see how much he had changed.
He had been alone for so long without anyone to talk to but the AI. A human was never meant to be in isolation for so long! That was why he felt good swearing so much. He was already lucky to not go insane. He was lonely, and wanted to go back soon.
The AI just listened to him swearing and rambling for an entire hour before interrupting, “Sure. Let’s continue the training.”
Xiang Ning just shut up. He felt like something within his heart had been lifted after rambling so much. At least the AI could answer him.
As for the training, he was already used to it. But this time, the training he received was different.
A dark tunnel appeared twenty meters above him in the ceiling. Something fell through the hole and landed on the ground. It was a Qiuros. Staring at the Qiuros, he immediately swore again. “Motherfucker! Are you doing this on purpose?!”
Something appeared beside him, too. It was a longsword. It looked similar to Devourer, but there was no core.
Looking at the longsword and the Qiuros that was closing in on him, he had no choice but to fight. He ran forward and attacked the Qiuros. His speed was currently faster than when he opened all eight gates six months ago.
He covered thirty meters in less than a second before standing firm. He brought down his sword at the Qiuros, who was now in front of him. He turned on Keen Observation but it was negated! To think that the AI was capable of negating his techniques! Luckily, Xiang Ning was already accustomed to not using those techniques anymore.
With just his instinct and experience, he predicted how the Qiuros would attack and counterattacked. Unfortunately, the Qiuros’s paw punched a hole into his shoulder and a stream of EXP flashed into his mind. The pain was almost unbearable!
