Forbidden Zone of the Human Race - Chapter 489: Did He Return?
Xiang Ning picked up the key. It seemed that he had triggered something as a 3D hologram appeared in front of him.
“Congratulations on completing your trial. You’ve been given a special citizen status of the Hairo Empire. This key can be used to activate one of the dormant ships here. It has access to a warp drive with roughly 91% of its charge remaining. Within the ship lies the coordinates of the Hairo Empire. The hard drive contains technical information that’ll greatly benefit your planet. As for the chip, it contains the details of this ship. I hope that you’ll be able to hand over the chip to the Hairo Empire,” The AI explained.
“Wait, hand it over to the Hairo Empire? Do you know how long you’ve been marooned here?”
“The Hairo Empire is one of the strongest empires in the galaxy. Based on my calculations, it would take at least tens of thousands of years for it to fall.”
Xiang Ning was speechless. How could this AI predict the fall of its empire? Was its technology so advanced? “Then… why don’t you send it back yourself? Your technology should be advanced enough.”
“If I had enough energy, I could do it myself.”
“I could provide the energy.”
“According to my calculations, with the level of technology on this planet, it would take thirty years of recharging to have enough energy to send the chip back to the Hairo Empire.”
Xiang Ning shut his mouth, then relented and agreed, “Alright, but let me tell you this now: if I can conquer the sea of stars in my life, I’ll help you.” Xiang Ning had just agreed to it when the AI disappeared. Huh. That was easy. I thought it was going to threaten me by blowing up my planet or something.
He waited for a few more minutes before confirming that the AI wouldn’t be meeting him again. There was a faint glow coming from the staircase beside him. He climbed the stairs and found a launch pad.
On the pad itself was the flying ship that the AI had promised him. It was fairly large, around the size of a fighter jet. Xiang Ning inspected the hull of the ship and was impressed by its design. While it was something Earth could fabricate, the knockoff’s speed would be far slower. Even if it could achieve flight at the speed of sound, the hull wouldn’t be able to handle the stress and disintegrate midair. To think that the technology of the Hairo Empire from a thousand years ago was stronger than Earth’s!
Xiang Ning excitedly walked over—he could finally go home.
He raised his wrist and saw that his communicator was dead. He sighed, as he couldn’t even send a message to his friends and family. He had been gone for a year! They would surely be worried about him.
The ship sensed the key in Xiang Ning’s hands and the door opened. Dust flew everywhere, but at least the cockpit was clean.
“Verifying… verification complete. User data has been bound. Welcome, Glimmer Seven at your service.”
Xiang Ning looked at the control panel and was surprised to see it was still in usable condition.
After a series of checks, the system prompt came. “Settings changed. Compiling data of planet. Data compilation complete. Please confirm the destination. Auto-pilot enabled.”
A hologram of Earth appeared; there were numerous landmarks where he could go. This was amazing!
Xiang Ning immediately found China and searched the southern region. He found Marsh City on the hologram and confirmed his selection as the spaceship shuddered. “Destination confirmed. Auto-pilot engaged. Arriving at the destination in one hour.”
Damn! The trip back would usually take ten hours. To think that it would only take one hour now! This is amazing!
The hatch above the ship opened as the engine started warming up. When it was fully opened, the ship took off. Everyone within the ruins and Kunlun City saw a shooting star flying above their head.
……
While Xiang Ning was flying back, it had already been a day on the outside. It was now the morning of the second day and the sun was just about to rise.
Moray had woken up early in Marsh City. He had acquired the contract yesterday, and he was off to a good start with Fang Rou. He had even managed to invite her for dinner to talk about Xiang Ning. She even wanted to give him a gift!
At six in the morning, he stood up from his bed and stretched. “This is going to be a beautiful day.”
It took him twenty minutes to get ready before he was in his car. “Young master, what should we do today?”
“First, we’ll go to Qiling Academy and assassinate Xiang Xiaoyu. Afterward, we’ll head to dinner with Ms. Fang. If she doesn’t come, we’ll go and meet her. But if she does come…. Oh, wait. I don’t think that’s possible. Hahaha!” Moray laughed as he couldn’t contain his excitement. He held his hand to his mouth to suppress it. “Haha! This is fun! I want to let them know that it was me all along, but it’d be so troublesome. This is a dilemma.”
“Understood, young master.”
On the other end, Xiang Xiaoyu had just woken up as well. She had class duties with Chen Zixin, so they needed to wake up early. Chen Zixin’s father would be driving both of them to school.
In the battleship Chaos…
“Report! We have an unidentified flying object traveling at supersonic speed toward Marsh City! It’ll arrive in five minutes! Its original location is from… the ruins in Kunlun mountains!”
The Chaos was currently in Marsh City’s Mount Lotus. Dong Qianyi received the report and hurried over. He saw the mysterious spaceship flying over the skies and his heart started rapidly beating. Can it be? It can’t be!
“Observe it closely!”
He immediately took out his communicator and called Xiang Ning, but was still greeted with the same out-of-reach tone.
Five minutes later.
“Report! It arrived in Marsh City. Its location is… the suburbs, at Xiang Ning’s house!” Everyone felt their heart beating faster as anticipation choked them. Could it be? Did he return?
Dong Qianyi almost lost his composure but remained uncertain. He quickly ran out of the lab; he needed to see for himself!
Just as he ran out, the spaceship flew up once again. This time it was headed for Qiling Academy!
……
Back at Qiling Academy…
“Young master, this is one of the best spots. We’re three thousand meters away. We will be able to land a shot with perfect accuracy from here.”
“Good.”
“Young master, do you want to do it yourself?”
“No need. It’s just a little girl. I’m still a bit reluctant. You do the job while I watch,” Moray chuckled as he watched through his binoculars. He was planning to use the man as a disposable pawn! Through his binoculars, he saw a black car arriving at the school. Within the car, he clearly saw Xiang Xiaoyu and Chen Zixin.
Doge & Chacha’s Thoughts
Moray just want to throw the blame onto his subordinate later on. Beta male behavior
Hoping MC reach in time (Probably will) and teach Moray a lesson (Absolutely)
