The dinner that night was a silent one. There was no laughter nor jokes as usual. Just silence as everyone focused on their food while having their own different thoughts.
Selena looked from one adult’s face to the other and none of them were smiling, neither Anita nor her father were even eating their food. Was it possibly because of what she had told her father, her grandmother had said? Her father had seemed to be okay until she had told him that and then he asked her to excuse them. Her sudden cry broke the silence and had everyone looking at her.
“Are you okay Lena?”
“What is wrong pumpkin?” Alex and his mother asked at the same time.
“I’m sorry.” Selena said tearfully making everyone look at her with a worried frown.
“What are you sorry for pumpkin?” Alex asked in confusion as he pulled away from his seat.
“Everyone is angry because of me.” Selena said wiping her eyes tearfully.
