- Volume 1: Discovering A God Chapter 16 Sixteen: Friend
Power rushed through my body, and my eyes caught every movement as Bishamonten tried to recapture me.
It was as if I was watching a snail, his arms outstretched, ready to forcefully sit me back down. I stare at him, unamused, and putting my hands before me, I thump him on his forehead, his body being flung back through the building.
At the sight, I smile a wicked grin. It was time for payback. I can feel a change in my body, as my arms begin to fill themselves out. No longer were they weak from torture, as gold scales appeared on my skin. I felt like an unbeatable beast, as I took a few steps towards the God of War, a tail swaying in stiff movements behind me.
Bishamonten looked at me, and I was sure of it. This was the first time he had ever felt true fear, his form now trembling at the sight of my might.
“That symbol in your eye, that’s not possible. It couldn’t be.” His voice shook, and his pupils were wide with fright.
My vision had shifted, and I could see all essence of mana around me. It was like that moment back at my house again, only this time I was in control and my anger was worse.
I had already lost so much, and I still had something worth protecting. She will not die. I don’t care if everyone else has to die in her place. I will burn the heavens to the ground, until it looks like hell.
Before I can decide to finish Bishamonten off, a familiar mana begins drawing me towards it. Ignoring my former captor, I carve a hole in the ceiling, flying through it. I’m briefly left in awe at the view that surrounds. It is clear that heaven is a whole lot more beautiful than the prison I’ve been kept in these past few days.
Pushing my awe aside, I head in the direction of the mana I sensed. When I get there, Benson, and the woman I love is standing there, and I’ve never felt so relieved. Beside them is Orth, but something feels off.
His mana reminds me of Bishamonten, and that thought began to rile me up. What if he wasn’t on our side this whole time?! What if he was the one who called that god to come and attack Emiya’s home.
Reignited, my rage caused me to go at Orth.
“You did this!” I screamed as the wings that brought me through the roof of the heavenly mansion, now guided me towards my mentor.
I grabbed at him, clawed hands piercing his shoulders and at the same time my teeth grabbed his throat.
“What’re you doing? I’m your friend,” Orth choked out as I did my best to crush his windpipe with may teeth.
Little did I know, off in the distance, we had an audience watching our every move.
