- Volume 1: Discovering A God Chapter 18 Eighteen: A Nightmare Comes To Life
The god who had captured me stands between me and my prey. I knew there was something I was missing, but my vengeance had made me shortsighted. I should have dealt with this menace first.
“Well I’ll be,” he starts with a crooked grin. He seems extremely happy to see me, in a demented sort of way, and I’m reminded of the look Bishamonten gave me when he was torturing me. “So it really is you. And all this time I thought you were dead.”
“I don’t even know you. Who are you?”
His grin widens, as if he is enjoying my confusion.
“You really don’t know. I am the Supreme Dragon God of the Heavens.”
A match strikes in my heart. Could he be my father?
“A-are you my father?”
With a booming ferocity, Sora begins to laugh with all his might, his eyes crinkling in pure joy.
“Me? Your father?! Now this, this is the most amused I’ve been all day!”
Emiya runs in my direction at full speed.
“He is not your father, that is not Kano!”
With a swing of his hand, he slaps Emiya five yards in the opposing direction, her body landing disproportionately on the ground.
“What is she droning on about?” the God questions.
“Emiya!”
I begin to run toward her, the vision playing in the back of my mind.
He begins to hold me back.
“Now, now. Can’t have you getting all lovey dovey with your mate over there. You always did say you loved your silly little creations.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I yell out, frustrated.
“Countless millennia of ruling this place, and pretending to love me. It’s so easy for you to forget me, yet even still your love for her is forever abounding. How pathetic. To see that even to this day she still weakens you. Tell you what. I’ll show you mercy, and kill her for you. Maybe then you shall remember my name.”
Tossing me aside like a rag doll, he begins to walk towards Emiya at a slow calculating pace.
“No!” I cry out. It was just like my vision as he took deliberate step towards her. Benson is taking a protective stance in front of her. “Just grab her and run!”
“To think you would side with him. I offered you grace and mercy Benson, and yet you spat in my face. To defend someone who doesn’t even know who you are. You all should have obeyed your banishment as I had commanded you, yet here you are, bombarding my gates. I have no more mercy to give.” The God tells Benson, as if it was some warning.
