Free Life Fantasy Online - Chapter 201
Henrick laughed in disbelief and said, “I’m not sure if anything can even surprise me anymore at this point. Did you just say you would be making a new species? Didn’t you say you didn’t have enough divine power to just go about creating things?”
“The skill needed to create a species isn’t related to the authority,” Kang Yoon-Soo replied.
“What skill is it?” Henrick asked.
“Create New Species,” Kang Yoon-Soo replied.
It was the single-use alchemist skill he had inherited from the Ancient Hero, Minerva, which allowed him to create a new species.
Shaneth looked confused for a moment before asking, “But why are you trying to create a new species all of a sudden?”
“To replenish my divine power,” Kang Yoon-Soo replied.
Gods absolutely needed divine power to use their godly abilities, and the only way to replenish their divine power was to restore the buildings or environment of the continent. However, it would take a long time for Kang Yoon-Soo to do such a task manually, and on top of that, the rewards he gained from each task were not particularly great.
In fact, he had gained a measly 15 divine power after spending half a day restoring the forester’s hut near their camp. That was why Kang Yoon-Soo was trying to create a new species that would restore things on his behalf, so he could quickly replenish his divine power.
Iris’ eyes widened as she said, “It would be great if you could create a species that is full of love then.”
“Hey, that’s a skill he can only use once, so he definitely has to create a species that’s really powerful,” Henrick retorted.
“But the appearance does not matter, right? I think it would be cute if they look like fairies or dolls,” Iris said.
Henrick scoffed in disbelief before replying, “Don’t forget that the fairies and dolls we’ve met until now all had nasty tempers.”
Shaneth tilted her head in confusion before asking, “Have you ever created new species in any of your previous lives?”
“Yeah,” Kang Yoon-Soo replied.
“What kinds of species did you create?” Shaneth asked.
“I created species specialized in assassination or healing, and there was even one that was specialized in brewing,” Kang Yoon-Soo replied.
“You created a new species just to brew alcohol…?” Shaneth asked in disbelief.
“Yeah,” Kang Yoon-Soo nonchalantly replied.
“Why…?” Shaneth asked.
“I needed someone to drink with,” Kang Yoon-Soo replied with a shrug.
“…”
The more they found out about the things he had done in his previous lives, the more eccentric Kang Yoon-Soo’s party found him to be.
In any event, they had to move to another location to create a new species.
‘I have to go to a place that increases life force to the maximum possible degree,’ Kang Yoon-Soo thought as he made his way toward a vast open field.
The field was lush with greenery and flowers despite it being the start of winter. The ground of the field exuded special mana that had the effect of keeping vegetation warm throughout the winter season. There were also animals that roamed the field rather than entering hibernation.
[You have entered a field that does not freeze even during winter.]
[Your life force and stamina has greatly increased after setting foot into this never-freezing land.]
[You may gain experience points toward the mastery of landscaping flowers, grass, and weeds significantly more quickly.]
[You may temporarily use one gardening skill (Master).]
The party members felt revitalized the moment they set foot in the field where even the animals did not enter hibernation despite the onset of winter.
Kang Yoon-Soo extended his right hand and muttered, “Create New Species.”
A bright, warm light shot out from his right hand and swirled through the air.
[You are creating a species that has never existed on the continent.]
[The abilities of the new species you are creating will be greatly amplified due to your ability as a god.]
[Please select the traits, abilities, temperament, and appearance of the new species you are going to create.]
+You may bestow the new species with the traits of an existing species.
+A larger amount of your life force will be consumed the more powerful the new species you want to create will be.
+Your current life force is 23,287.
The creation of a new species had begun!
However, Kang Yoon-Soo could not add any ability or trait to the new species he was creating without any restrictions. He had to pay more life force the more traits and abilities he added to the new species.
That meant he could possibly die if he tried to bestow the new species with the traits and abilities of powerful species such as dragons, demons, or angels.
‘I’ll end up using up all of my life force if I carelessly try to create a powerful new species,’ Kang Yoon-Soo thought.
As such, he decided to choose the traits and abilities of the new species he was creating within reasonable limits.
The first trait he selected was from the dwarves. Dwarves were skilled with their hands and had a passion for the buildings on the continent. In fact, they were known to become possessed by a desire to fix any building regardless of how shabby it was; that was why they were the perfect race to choose if Kang Yoon-Soo wanted to replenish his divine power by repairing things on the continent.
However, dwarves were also known for their bad temperament and pride that kept them from being easily persuaded by what others had to say. It was even possible for the new species to hatch a plan among themselves and stage a mutiny against their creator if they had the dwarves’ attitude.
Of course, Kang Yoon-Soo could easily take care of them by inflicting divine punishment on them, but what he needed at the moment was a species that would obediently listen to his commands. After some time, he thought of one race that would be the perfect one for his needs.
‘Their temperament will be from the Fire Trolls,’ he thought.
The trolls they had met at the Desert of Death were so innocent that they would not even harm a single fly. Kang Yoon-Soo had no plans to use the new species for combat, and the only trait he required from the Fire Trolls was for the new species to be obedient to his commands.
He also wanted the new species to be highly mobile and nimble. That was why he decided that the appearance of the new species would resemble the fairies, as they could freely use their hands while flying around with their wings.
[You have selected the workmanship and passion of the Dwarves (-10,000).]
[You have selected the temperament of the Fire Trolls (-1,800).]
[You have selected the appearance of the Fairies (-800).]
He still had around ten thousand points of life force left even after adding three things to the new species, due to the buff he had received from the class ability of a god.
‘I should add more traits and abilities to the new species then,’ Kang Yoon-Soo thought. He pondered for quite a while before deciding on two additional traits.
[You have selected the workmanship and passion of the Dwarves (-10,000).]
[You have selected the wisdom of the Elves (-6,000).]
[You have selected the multiplication ability of the Slimes (-4,000).]
[You have selected the temperament of the Fire Trolls (-1,800).]
[You have selected the appearance of the Fairies (-800).]
“I’ll now start the creation of the new species,” Kang Yoon-Soo muttered.
A whopping 90% of his life force abruptly drained out of his body the moment he declared the creation of the new species. His face turned pale due to the sudden loss, and he quickly drank a potion before starting the creation process.
[The appearance and temperament of the new species will slightly be altered due to the presence of various traits from different races.]
[The appearance of the new species will be a mix between that of the Elves and the Fairies.]
[The temperament of the new species will be a mix between that of the Fire Trolls and the Slimes.]
[A special power has been bestowed to the new species due to your powers as a god.]
The bright light slowly began to gather in one spot, creating a vague outline in midair.
Henrick squinted and asked, “It seems pretty similar to when you created the spirits, but different at the same time. Is it because there are more of them this time?”
Another message popped up as the light formed a beautiful silhouette.
[Please select the culture of the new species.]
[The culture of the new species will greatly affect whether they thrive and reproduce or not.]
“They worship their god with mad zeal,” Kang Yoon-Soo muttered in response.
[The trait of worshiping their god with mad zeal has been added to the culture of the new species.]
[Finally, please select a name for the new species.]
Kang Yoon-Soo decided on a simple name, the way he always did. He muttered, “Reno.”
Reno was basically a shortened version of Urnokra[1].
[The new species, the Reno, has appeared on the Sylphia Continent.]
[The first ten Renos have been created on the continent.]
[The Renos are a kind race with beautiful appearances.]
[These creatures are highly interested in fixing or constructing buildings on the continent.]
[These creatures are quite adventurous and refuse to settle down in one place.]
[Additionally, their ability to reproduce will allow them to create more descendants in a short amount of time.]
[The Renos love to drink and are highly resilient, just like their creator.]
+The attitude of the newly created Renos will take after you, their creator.
The Renos were larger than the fairies but smaller than the elves, and they had beautiful faces that were a mix of both races’ traits. There were five females and five males, and they hovered in midair on fluttering wings.
“What wonderful creatures they are,” Iris said in amazement.
The newborn Renos observed their surroundings, which looked new, amazing, and mysterious to them.
Kang Yoon-Soo walked toward them and said, “Renos.”
“Who might you be?” one of the Renos asked.
“I’m your god,” Kang Yoon-Soo replied.
“Oh my god!” the Renos cried before lowering their heads.
Kang Yoon-Soo shook his head and said, “Raise your heads.”
“B-But… You are our god…!” the Renos exclaimed.
The innocent Renos squirmed while struggling to decide whether to show their respect by lowering their heads, or listen to Kang Yoon-Soo and raise their heads.
As the Renos were paralyzed with indecision, however, Kang Yoon-Soo commanded, “Construct a new building in this field.”
The Renos quickly scattered in all directions as soon as Kang Yoon-Soo gave the command, and soon built a beautiful house made out of grass and flowers in the middle of the field. The house was quite simple, but it looked luxurious at the same time.
[The Renos have successfully constructed a house made out of grass and flowers!]
[This impressive structure will amplify the beauty of the continent.]
[You have gained 110 Divine Power.]
Things had gone exactly as Kang Yoon-Soo expected. He would gain much more divine power when constructing a beautiful building compared to fixing an existing one. Additionally, even though the Renos had been the ones to build the house, Kang Yoon-Soo had still received divine power. That was due to the fact that their creator was none other than him.
‘It would be much more beneficial to me if I let the Renos loose on the continent rather than having them tag along with me,’ Kang Yoon-Soo thought.
Even a house that the Renos had whipped up with simple basic materials replenished 110 Divine Power, and he was certain that his divine power would increase much more quickly if he let the Renos scatter across the continent and build all over it.
“Renos,” Kang Yoon-Soo said.
“Yes, please speak, our god,” the Renos replied.
“Listen to my teachings and engrave them in your hearts,” Kang Yoon-Soo said, before he started preaching the same way he had in the trial.
The Renos looked at him with awe, listening intently to his sermons. Kang Yoon-Soo splashed alcohol on them while preaching, and the Renos started to burst out into tears while praising his name.
Shaneth looked at the Renos with a pitying gaze as she said, “To think they had to listen to Kang Yoon-Soo’s preaching as soon as they were born… I’m worried for the future of their race.”
“Well, the fact that they had to serve a crazy god as soon as they were born was the start of their misery,” Henrick said, clicking his tongue.
“But the Renos look so happy right now… I feel bad for them…” Iris said, looking sad.
The Renos listened, engraving in their hearts their god’s commands: To go forth all over the continent, to multiply, and to construct buildings. Then, they scattered after Kang Yoon-Soo finished preaching. Overnight, he gained 750 Divine Power.
The Renos would multiply much faster from then on, and the number of buildings they constructed would thus increase. There were still not particularly many of them, but they were quite tenacious and could fly quickly, so Kang Yoon-Soo was not worried about their survival. That was why he was certain that he no longer had to worry about his divine power.
‘It seems I can use Divine Punishment to my heart’s content from now on,’ Kang Yoon-Soo thought.
On top of that, he would be able to use both Divine Punishment and the Authority of Creation as much as he wanted due to his newfound source of divine power.
‘The only thing left now is to start heading toward the Colossi’s Magic Tower,’ Kang Yoon-Soo decided.
Of course, he could become a full-fledged god if he found the ‘One Who Should Not Exist’ and killed him, but he had no other options but to face the magic tower with what he had, as he lacked any clues as to the whereabouts of the being who was breaking the balance of the world.
Kang Yoon-Soo continued finishing the quest together with his companions. He quickly resolved the larger-scale battles with divine punishment and easily leveled up in the process.
A short while had passed and he was now at the final part of the legendary quest.
[Legendary Quest—Journey to the Magic Tower (5)]
[The clues and information you have gathered until now are starting to come together to tell one truth.]
[The truth is that the Colossi’s Magic Tower does not exist on the Sylphia Continent.]
[The magic tower enveloped by the fog of mystery exists in between the continent and Pandemonium.]
[Someone is rebuilding the Colossi’s Magic Tower beneath the fog.]
[A terrible tragedy will fall upon the continent if the magic tower is rebuilt.]
[You may proceed to the dimension where the magic tower lies if you kill the demon that appears in the Kervas Mountains at midnight.]
[The only way to save the continent is to hurry toward the Colossi’s Magic Tower and prevent it from being rebuilt!]
The demon in the Kervas Mountains only appeared after someone successfully completed the previous four legendary quests related to the magic tower. At last, the road to the magic tower was right before them.
“So we’re finally going to the magic tower,” Shaneth said.
“Why is it that death seems to linger around every corner, and my dream of a natural death is getting farther and farther away from me…” Henrick grumbled.
“I still believe in Kang Yoon-Soo,” Iris said.
Kang Yoon-Soo stood silently, braving the cold wind blowing past his face that signaled the coming of the first snow.
‘The King of All Things, Sirian…’ he thought.
A fight against Sirian was something he had to risk and bet his life on, but he was confident that he could win this time. The class he had obtained in his final life was more powerful than anything he had ever imagined before.
‘Sirian and the Demon Lord… I’ll kill them both,” Kang Yoon-Soo thought, steeling his resolve.
He believed that the resolution he had made over and over again across hundreds of lives was finally coming to fruition. and that he would finally be able to live the life he had always wanted.
“It’s time for us to go,” Kang Yoon-Soo said as he walked toward the Kervas Mountains.
However, he never could have imagined even in his wildest dreams that he was about to face off against his natural enemy.
1. We decided to go with the name Reno because ‘Urno’ or ‘R’no’ wouldn’t make sense in English, but it works in Korea because of the way words are spelled. Also, the idea of a species being called ‘Reno’ when their sole purpose is to fix buildings, on top of the fact that their name comes from ‘Urnokra’, was too good to pass up. ☜
