From Dusk till Dawn! - Chapter 399
”They call you a devil…but you’ve always been my best friend,” His jaws clenched, “But your ruthlessness still amazed me. You don’t have an ounce of sympathy for the woman who was ready to die for you. You are truly an ungrateful bastard….”
“The only woman whom I’d live or die for is Tang Li,” Mo Yuhan said in a low voice, his tone laced with coldness.
In his world, he did not need different women to play different roles. Tang Li was enough. She was his best friend, crush, wife, life partner, and soulmate.
The authority in his voice could not be denied, “Other than her, I’ve never given anyone the hope of looking at them or loving them. I’m not responsible if they seek their death.…”
“You…” Ye Jie grabbed Mo Yuhan’s collar and raised his fist.
‘Pak’
Tang Li pushed him away before giving him a tight slap, “The person who you are calling an ungrateful bastard is the same one who saved your sister. If he hadn’t taken the risk to push her in time, the bullet might have gone past her heart instead of grazing past her shoulder.” Her cold voice rang on the deck.
Despite the sounds of rotating blades of the helicopter, her words sounded crystal clear.
Ye Jie placed his hand on his right cheek, her words reverberating in his mind. Ye Lan did not tell him about that.
“My cousin also loves cousin-in-law,” Si Xiu said referring to Tang Li and Mo Yuhan. Ye Jie raised his head towards the woman who spoke up. She continued speaking, “But if she takes the bullet for him, then her grandfather or her elder brother wouldn’t come after Mo Yuhan and blame him for everything. After all, we all are adults so we should be responsible for the decisions we make.”
On the first day they met, Ye Jie had told her that his sister was obsessed with his best friend while his best friend would not spare a glance at women other than his wife. It was not hard for her to join the dots looking at the current situation.
Looking at Ye Jie’s blank face, she continued, “The moment your sister decided to take the bullet for her ‘unrequited’ love..” She emphasized the term ‘unrequited’, stabbing a few knives through Ye Lan’s heart on purpose. As simple and innocent she looked, that was just her face, not her mind. She was not dumb enough to think that Ye Lan wasn’t creating a conflict on purpose.
The corner of her lips tugged up as she continued, “Right at that moment, your sister should have prepared herself for the worst…as in death. But she was dreaming of Mo Yuhan’s love. How ridiculous!” She did not bother to filter her words as she spoke, “She is not a breastfed baby that everyone needs to look after.”
Ye Jie stood rooted to his spot as her words reverberated in his mind. In fact…
He was not blaming Mo Yuhan for anything. He knew how obsessed his sister was with his friend. But she was still his sister, the thought of her death sent shivers down his spine. Although they had a father, his world revolved around his daughter and they were just illegitimate children. They were each other’s only family, especially after their mother died a few months ago.
After seeing his sister’s condition and noticing how calm Mo Yuhan was, he just could not keep it in himself and vented everything on him.
Tang Li glanced at his regretful face before looking at Mo Yuhan who was still wearing his indifferent expressions as he stood there without a care of the world. She pinched the space between her brows.
The aloof man immediately wrapped an arm around her waist, “What happened? Are you not feeling well?”
The corner of her lips twitched. “I am fine,” She cleared her throat before looking at Ye Jie, “Take her to hospital,” She said pointed her chin towards the Ye Lan before glancing at the other helicopters above their heads.
Ye Jie inhaled a deep breath, “There are bombs here…” Huangfu Lin was dealing with them all alone while he came to give Si Xiu her phone.
Tang Li’s eyes widened as she glanced at Mo Yuhan questioningly.
He nodded.
She pursed her lips before looking at a certain man who was sticking his ear out of the helicopter, “My dear uncle…” She coldly called out to him.
“I have not arranged the bombs,” Song Tianyi immediately clarified, “There were many other powers here to acquire that thing. Although your man shooed all of them away, that does not mean nobody played the tricks in between.”
The man had no reason to lie. Tang Li thought to herself. Reminded of something, she looked at the guy who was working under her uncle and even pretended to take him as a hostage earlier, “Is this man a member of Kingsman faction?” She pointed at the man lying unconscious near Ethan’s feet. It was the same person who was trying to shoot Mo Yuhan from a hidden pot but got shot by her instead.
The guy looked at Song Tianyi, “Sir…?”
The man shrugged, “Give her any information she wants.”
Was it still their leader? The guy thought to herself before glancing at where Tang Li was pointing, “No, I don’t know him.”
Tang Li sighed.
“Cousin, Cousin-in-law…” They turned around to look at Si Xiu as she spoke, “Unless it is tampered with, there are still two hours before the bomb gets activated by itself. So, as long as you finish the work within that time, you do not need to worry about that.”
Mo Yuhan and Tang Li exchanged glances. Two hours were more than enough, she thought to herself. Moreover, if the bombs got activated, they could simply call for Mo Yuhan’s private chopper and leave.
“You all should leave now…” Tang Li looked at everyone, including her bodyguards and Mo Yuhan’s security team.
All her helicopters should be more than enough for them to leave.
“Where is Huangfu Lin?” She glanced at Ye Jie before looking at Si Xiu.
“Diffusing bombs,” Both replied simultaneously to which Tang Li raised an eyebrow.
She glanced at Mo Yuhan and he nodded at her, understanding what she wanted.
Taking out his phone, he immediately called Huangfu Lin. The call was answered on the third ring, “Xiao Lin, don’t diffuse the bombs anymore. We’ll be done here soon. Send your men back to the palace, there are helicopters on the deck at standby.” He hung up as soon as she finished speaking.
