From Dusk till Dawn! - Chapter 439
Tang Li glanced at him, ”Opposite attracts. Maybe that is applicable here.”
Mo Zihan nodded as he held her hand, ”Are you fine? Do you feel pain anywhere?” He asked in concern.
”I just passed out because of exhaustion and shock. Nothing that serious. On the contrary, I want to ask you….” She paused, ”Are you really fine?” His grip on her hand tightened.
”What are you talking about?” Mo ZIhan laughed.
But unlike his cheerful self, his smile looked forced and his eyes were empty.
”Zihan, we have known each other since years. Do you think I won’t notice your condition? I shrugged it off countless times thinking that I must be overthinking. But now that you are sitting in front of me, there is no mistaking anymore. No matter how many things are going on in my life, you can always turn to me.”
His eyes turned red as his lips pinched together.
Tang Li stroked his palm, waiting for him to speak but he kept his mouth shut. Just when she thought he did not want to tell her about it, he spoke up.
”She left me…”
Tang Li’s eyes widened, ”Yue?”
Mo Zihan nodded.
”Did you both fight?” The last time she remembered, they were doing so good together.
”No, we were fine. She just disappeared one day leaving me a letter to not look for her. Days later, my friend told me that she had an affair…”
”Investigate that friend of yours first…” Tang Li cut him off, ”And Ying Yue is not the kind of woman who would cheat.”
Mo Zihan sighed, ”She went with that man to his room. It’s true but I trust her. It is just that she never trusted me enough.”
“We will look for her,” Her heart ached for him. She did not know what made Ying Yue act so impulsively. How could she leave Mo Zihan like this?
“Do you think I have not tried it? She seems to have disappeared without a trace, like she never existed. She had been distant to me during our last days together but I never got to know what was going in her mind until….” Mo Zihan lowered his head, ”Don’t bother about it, sister-in-law. If this is what she wants, then I will gladly give it to her as long as she is happy. And right now, I have a company to look after so it is better that I stay away from any kind of distractions or relationships. It is… for the good that she left me.”
Tang Li glanced at him unblinkingly, from his dark circles to the growing stubble on his face.
Mo ZIhan stood up, ”Take some rest. I think Brother might be on his way to here. I will go freshen up first,” He walked out of the hospital room without looking back.
Tang Li sighed, knowing that the more unaffected he acted, the more bothered he was. But other finding Ying Yue, she could not see any other solution for it was only her who could tell the complete truth.
Lost in her thoughts, she closed her eyes and placed her head on the pillow, slowly dozing off.
…
As the familiar scent invaded her nostrils, Tang Li leaned closer to the source of comfort. Her eyes slowly opened as she felt a pair of arms tightening around her.
”Yuhan….” She tilted her head upwards.
”Mm?” Mo Yuhan glanced at her as his eyes became gentler.
”You are here….” She smiled, ”I was really worried…”
”Sorry?”
“For what?”
“For worrying you. Everything is fine now,” He smiled at her as he sat up, holding her in his arms as they leaned back on the headrest of of the bed.
She placed her head on his shoulder, ”What happened there? Were you injured?” She glanced at the small bruise near his lips.
”No, it happened during the assassination. Just a superficial wound,” He added the second line when she frowned. As much as he wanted to keep things to himself to not worry her, he was sure that Tang Yichen was a tattletale and secondly, she won’t like being kept in dark and he had promised her to not do it again.
Tang Li sighed, ”Why did they come after me?” With her skills, she could have handled them but she was feeling weak at that moment and it was impossible for her to keep her eyes open which is why she ended up in that dangerous situation.
”They knew that some of the directors had sold their shares to the CEO of Ash Corporations but they weren’t aware of your identity. So, as soon as they knew, they planned this.”
”Their daughter, Mo Bao knows about who I am then why had she never disclosed it to them?”
”She has been taking drugs over the years and I had some material on her,” After the incident with Mo Bao, he had investigated her keenly, ”That’s why she kept silent about. And she is not that close to her parents.”
Tang Li nodded, ”Remember you told me that you wanted to tell me about something?”
”En…”
”I am waiting,” She glanced at his conflicted expressions, “What’s wrong?”
“I don’t want you to be stressed,” He held her hand.
”Well, I will be more stressed if you don’t tell me,” She rolled her eyes.
”I…” Mo Yuhan stroked her palm, ”…found the person responsible for mother’s death.”
Tang Li stiffened, ”Who is it?”
”Her friend. The only friend that she had. Grandpa Tang has always been right about it.”
”You know her?”
“Mo Yi.”
”Your aunt?” Tang Li straightened up.
Mo Yuhan nodded, ”They were best friends.”
When Mo Yuhan saw that half burnt picture, it did not take him long to recognize the woman and latter, Tang Yichen hacked into Mo Yi’s personal data over the years, that included a investment company overseas with billions of assets. And the owner was none other than Mo Yi which raised their suspicions further because Mo Yi’s mother and father were poor, it was a struggle for them to make meets end.
Only because of a scholarship, her mother was able to attend a prestigious university where she plotted to climb the social ladders by seducing the heirs of royal families only for a brutal failure at it.
So, there was no way that Mo Yi was able to become a billionaire overnight…unless….that money was the same money that was extorted from Tang Corporations at that time when Tang Meili was the CEO.
And their guess was right as the figures and amounts matched accurately in that given data.
It turned out that Mo Yi and Tang Meili were best friends during their university but Mo Yi befriended Tang Meili only on her mother’s order.
