Galaxy’s First Ruler - Chapter 284
Even if they had some doubt, the six Dreamers got to know who was running towards them when Meuric let out a blood-curdling shout.
The ground quaked under Meuric’s feet, and the vibrations reached the Dreamers, turning their faces graver with every step. The Level 12 Dreamer didn’t move after seeing this insolence. His hairs were dark green, and his eyes had a shade even darker than those.
The two Dreamers unaffiliated to any House took two steps back as if showing they had nothing to do with it. But the lead Dreamer snapped his head back and rebuked them, “Humph! Cowards, now go on! Your future will depend on how quickly you can do away with this nuisance.”
But he’s one of the…
My Lord, we can’t…
The two Level 10 Common Ranked Dreamers resisted and gave out excuses, but their voice couldn’t rise under the lead-Dreamer’s squinted eyes. Meuric was almost upon them. It was now or never.
The rest of the three Dreamers, standing on the green-haired Dreamer, had a smirk on their faces. There was one Level 11 Dreamer among them, and the other two were Level 10.
Fucking mongrels…
Tch! What did you expect…
We should have let them die…
These words weren’t low, but loud and fast. Almost spoken in one breath simultaneously. The two commoners gritted their teeth and lunged towards Meuric.
“SUMMON!”
“SUMMON!”
The two shouted together and used the Skill they had freshly gained. Mana churned and two beasts appeared in front of the them.
One was a monkey-like creature, and even if it wasn’t visible, one could see a protruded hump on its back, flashing red and hot. It had four arms, and its fists were almost glowing red in heat.
It was the Fire-Back Baboon.
A hoarse cry of a bird came out from the other side. It was a black-winged creature with paper-like feathers. The skin over its head was transparent, showing the glowing brain under its skull.
It was the Light Devouring Vulture.
Though the vulture was almost half the size of the one who had been swept away by the river, the glow coming out of its brain was bright white. Aldrich narrowed his eyes as he saw the two familiar beasts. Given these Dreamers were coming from the same direction, having the same beasts wasn’t surprising. But the timing was queer, and it almost looked meticulous.
Aldrich thought little about it, and putting it at the back of his mind, he concentrated on the fight. Meuric was only dozens of meters away from the Dreamers and their beasts. The young boy, though hot-blooded, had shown great prudence in not blindly charging into them at full speed.
His deliberate slowing himself accomplished two things. It gave a false impression of his limits and it made the lead Dreamer separate the group in two.
Grrrr-Screeech!!!
The Baboon and Vulture lunged at Meuric, one from the land and the other from the air. A red bow appeared simultaneously in the hands of Baboon’s summoner. The vulture’s summoner brought out a lit candle. Unlike Aldrich, these Dreamers had selected their summons with reason.
The Baboon lunged at Meuric, with his four fists hurled backward like springs, and the Vulture opened its beak wide. In the same moment, the bow holder Dreamer fired a fiery arrow of Mana. But the fire-arrow wasn’t aimed at Meuric, but the Baboon. To be specific, it was aimed at the hole over its back.
Shruru-bloblob!!!
The fire-arrow entered the volcano-like hump and a gurgling noise came out as if something was boiling scalding hot within it. Getting such a boost, the red didn’t stop at the Baboon’s four fists. Soon, all its arms got covered with the same red-white hotness and even its legs looked like two pillars of hot iron.
ENHANCED VOLCANIC FISTS!!!
On the other side, the small flame of the candle-like Item erupted with a massive white flash. Millions of round blobs of white light got sucked towards the vulture’s brain. From the open beak, a beam of light came blasting out as if there was an overflow of it into the vulture’s stomach.
ENHANCED LIGHT BLAST!!!
Even if Meuric was physically stronger than the two summoners combined, he couldn’t take these attacks head-on without suffering serious injuries. The beam had escaped the vulture’s mouth, and Aldrich could see Baboon’s steamy and smelly breath reaching Meuric’s nose.
This was the moment to dodge.
This was the moment to go for the summoners and counter-attack.
But just as Meuric’s toes pressed over the hard rocks to change direction, Aldrich’s words rang in his mind.
-“Tch! There is no escape from Pain”-
Something snapped in Meuric’s head at that time. Something that could have advised him to not listen to Aldrich’s unreasonable words. And something that could have doubted this mysterious white-haired man.
The corners of Aldrich’s mouth almost lifted to let out an evil smirk at that moment.
From Meuric’s ten o’clock, the baboon was falling over him. From his two o’clock, the beam was coming. The twelve o’clock, though open, couldn’t possibly fit Meuric’s towering figure with his broad shoulders and thick waist.
Thump!
Thump!
Blood rushed to Meuric’s head, and the time slowed. The beam landed first, and then the fists. Blood showered, skin burned, and bones broke. Pain, which he had just forgotten from moments ago, returned as fresh as it could be.
But then it was over. As soon as it had come.
-“Hahaha!”-
“Hahaha!!!”
There was a hole in Meuric’s right shoulder, and his chest was bloody. His ribs were broken, and his right hand was lifeless. But amid this incomprehensible sight, Aldrich’s and his laugh echoed like a song of death.
The flashy red had vanished, and the heat lingered. It seemed to Aldrich that the Baboon had known Fear before, but not like the one it was experiencing now. It turned and was about to run when Meuric’s left hand got covered in small lightning snakes and he punched out.
CRUNCH!
Before the juices of Baboon’s head could come out, Meuric vanished and appeared in front of the vulture. The speed shocked the Dreamers, but it was the Vulture who had almost shit itself. It fluttered its wings, almost trying to fly backward, but a punch reached its head, too.
Formless and almost invisible.
BANG!!
