Gambit Of The Living Weapon - Chapter 219 Kids and adults
Evlin was staring at the situation through Mia’s eyes and could not believe how much of a disorder this whole situation had turned into.
Her sister and brother-in-law were still controlling a huge nine-headed snake monster made of water and ice even though Mia had severed her connection with them, so she assumed these spirits were following her of their own will.
Many of the members of her niece’s side were getting injured trying to stop the creatures from eating the humans that were still under the control of the lost souls and some were even being killed in the process.
“I can’t believe this is happening!! This has to stop!!!” she yelled while observing everything from the white void.
“There is no stopping this now, stick-girl…” mentioned Drya, who was still chained to the ground and unable to move, left to only gaze at the situation as well, “wars don’t stop until one side gives up or loses!”
“But my family is in there!! And my friends!! And my niece!!”
Drya just rolled her eyes, “oh no… why didn’t you say so? In that case, let me just press my deus ex machina button that I carry in my pocket so that we can stop this whole thing and go home to order pizza!”
“Ugh!! You’re so useless!! This whole thing just happened because you planted ideas on that girl’s head!! Why couldn’t you have just died in the demon kingdom??” Evlin shouted while glaring at the demon girl.
“Hey! I’m not the one that turned miss psycho into a killing machine. I just tried to make the best use of her as I could. You wanna scream at someone, scream at him!” Drya replied while staring at North, also in chains, just like the hundreds of souls that were imprisoned there with them.
Evlin agreed with the plant and rushed to the god’s side to grab him.
“North!! North you have to stop this madness!! Mia is out of control!!” she begged.
North just stared at her with an expression of defeat, “It’s too late, human Evlin…”
“What do you mean late!!?? You started this!! Go end it!!”
“I can’t… Mia was never able o be controlled… Only contained…”
“Good!! Go contain her!!”
“I CAN’T!!!” he shouted, “not anymore at least…”
“Wraaghh!!! All of you are so useless!!! You demons, gods, and all… You just create nothing but trouble for everyone involved!! What were you thinking making Mia like this!!??”
“She was always like this, crossbow girl… Her entire life was about going up against what others told her to do and just live her life the way she wanted… the way she desired it… that’s why I wanted her to be my champion… Such a strong spirit, and all the power of a descendent of Hana… at such a young age… how could I not have chosen her??”
North just smirked at her, “you tried to be her friend… and see how well that turned out!”
At this moment Evlin was reminded of the scary look on Mia’s face once she talked about how she was going to stop trying to hold herself back and just accept her demon side since she knew Evlin would still accept her in the end. That memory sent shivers down her spine.
“You think showing affection is all it takes to handle a child? You need to show strength! Authority! Not hold her hand when she is depressed and say ‘everything will be fine!’ after she just finishes taking control over an entire city!” North added.
“Wha- what are you saying??” Evlin whispered.
“I’m saying, that you’re looking for someone to blame… And that you are to be blamed as well!! You gave her hope when what she needed was restriction!! Your words were also responsible for today’s outcome!!”
“I was trying to help her!! You were trying to turn her into a machine!!”
“She already is a machine!!! And she was the best machine possible! MY machine!! The one that was going to bring me glory!!”
North then dropped his smile and started to glare at Evlin.
“But then you came… And she started to lose her initial goal… decided to chase after something easier… simpler… something less… And instead of continuing her work, she took the easy route and became a demon… A useless demon that won’t listen to me anymore… two-hundred years avoiding this situation gonne to waste…”
Evlin remained silent.
“If it wasn’t for you, we would be facing off Hana right now… But with the way things happened, I have no idea where this will go…” North commented while lowering his head.
“S- Still!! We have to do something!! Mia is going to kill all these people at this rate!!” Evlin reminded him while dropping on her knees to look at his face.
“Nothing can be done about it… We have no power in the white void… And my champion won’t listen to us anymore now that her mind started to break apart… Not that I care much about the lives of mere humans…”
“Break apart?”
“You saw how she reacted when she saw the telepath… Her memories are being mixed with your memories… And her desires are being mixed with her demonic desires… She’s constantly going back and forth between what she wants, what you want, and what her demon-side wants… It’s just a matter of time until she can’t even differentiate left from right… Soon the human Mia will be gone, and there will be nothing left besides the demon Mia.”
Drya just laughed, “looks like there is no win in this scenario for you, stick-girl!”
Evlin glared at the plant. She then was reminded of something that North said, about how there was nothing they could do in the white void.
“The white void…” she whispered, “I’m in the white void…”
Evlin then closed her eyes and tried to focus. Focus on reaching the one person in this world that could listen to her right now while hoping that her old connection was still working.
[Gustav!! Gustav, can you hear me??]
Part 2
Detra was raising Marcus in his weapon form while conjuring a large number of icicles using her freezing magic.
“I need more power! Marcus!!”
[On it!!] her son replied while speaking inside her mind.
Even more icicles started to appear while Detra started to sweat and tremble over the pressure this was putting in her body.
“More!! More!! I need as much as you can give me!!” she shouted.
[But-]
“Just do it!!!”
Marcus didn’t respond and just continued to send out more energy towards his mother’s body. The ice mage could feel the power surging and started to create more icicles to float in the air around her.
[Is this enough!?]
“Let’s find out!!” she responded while pointing her staff at the battlefield and sending every single one of her frozen shards flying while aiming them at the demons and beasts.
A rain of ice started to fall upon the beasts and stabbing each and everyone one of them, proceeding to either kill them or severely wound them.
Many of the creatures ended up falling but many also were still standing.
[There is just no end to these things!!] Marcus noticed.
Detra dropped on her knees and glared at the remaining enemies, “yes there is… I will not rest until every last demon is killed by my hands!!”
She tried to move but a group of mages in red robes started to approach her while shooting her with spells.
“Hey!! It’s the living weapon!! Get him!!!” he shouted while gazing at her metallic staff.
[What the… what’s going on??] Marcus wondered while noticing the angry expressions on their faces.
“No idea…” Detra admitted. She then tried to get in contact with Gustav, [Telepath! I need assistance!]
[East?] Gustav replied.
[No, Michael Jackson… Of course it’s me!!! Send someone to protect me from the red mages while I deal with the demons!]
Gustav wasn’t sure who this Jackson person was but he quickly noticed her dire situation and started to send out a message.
[Everyone!! I need someone to act as a bodyguard for the ice mage!! She needs to be protected while her spells attack the demons and monsters!!]
The entire army received the message in their minds, but many of them were still busy trying to stop the demons from killing the possessed mages, dealing with the hydra, or resting in the recovery unit.
[Isn’t there anyone that can help!!??] Gustav asked again.
[I can!!!] one voice responded.
“Oh, Lord…” Detra mumbled as she heard the voice that had replied. It was a voice she was very familiar with, and not in a good way.
[East!! Someone is coming to assist you!!] Gustav commented.
[Send someone else!! Anyone else!! Send me a scare-crow if you have to!!] She tried to say, but her message was interrupted by another incoming fireball attack from one of the red mages that she barely managed to dodge.
“Give us the living weapon!! Now!!” one of them shouted.
It was a group of three civilians, all with their staffs aimed at her and charged with magic, one with fire, one with lightning, and one with earth.
The trio was about to unleash their spells all at once on the woman, but before they could, a pair of electric whips latched onto the fire and earth mages and zapped them unconscious.
The one responsible for this was a small boy wearing a white robe with red details carrying a frog on his head.
“Fear not, my dear lady!! Your knight in shining armor is here to protect you!!” Joseph proudly boasted.
Detra just widened her teary eyes and began to shout with all the strength of her lungs, “NOOOOOOO!!!!!”
