Gambit - 47 047| Planning
Playing with his Piccolo, staring out to the wide open arc, Quartz Vermillion is suddenly disturbed when someone knocks at the iron bars of his cell. At first he ceased to mind whoever is knocking, disrupting his peace of mind. That was when he was irked past his threshold when he decided to pay attention to the knocker.
To his surprise, it was no other than the maiden who was knocking. Quartz was also surprised to see the maiden wearing a beautiful gown of elegance, making her look like a queen. Although she may seem like a queen to the young man’s eyes, Virgo was somehow downhearted.
“Virgo?!” says, Quartz, shell-shocked by her sudden appearance.
Virgo leans her body unto the bars and extends her hand to Quartz. The moment Quartz holds her hand, Virgo starts to cry until there is nothing left for her eyes to bear. From a single droplet to a stream of tears packed with grief and depression, Virgo’s hand trembles.
“My father, mother, they’ve been killed.” solemnly, she says the truth to Quartz.
“What happened to them?!”
“King Darian, the adopted son of the first king of Sacchi. For all these years, he was dwelling inside the body of a dragon, a rare sub-species of a hex- still considered as a hex though, that allows a person to transform itself into a dragon. I was shocked, he murdered the shadow monarchs and father was nothing but a toy to his eyes.
Now, I’m scared. Both kingdoms are about to clash for one final time and with King Darian leading the other kingdom? Pureheart does not stand against him. There must be a way, something, a solution perhaps. Darian waited for this moment, the moment when his brother, the rightful heir would pass away.”
“Then we must stop the war at once.”
“At once? Where’s Endeavor by the way?”
“He came with the princess. Anyway, back to the topic, I think I know a way to end this.”
“What? Don’t tell me you’re going to fight too? I won’t allow this.”
“Of course not. Remember what Melchior said? If there is unity, it can end all wars. What if we try to unite the people of both kingdoms?”
“And how are you going to do that? Stand between the siege and say some big speech? Quartz, Darian has a great reputation for influencing people to the point whatever lie they told them turns into a belief stained in their hearts. Some speech won’t serve as a soap to remove that stain away.”
“Sometimes, we do not need a speech to convince everyone.” says, the young man while showing the maiden his piccolo.”
“M-music?!”
“Yes. The purpose of music is to comfort the disturbed. It is the key to anyone’s heart just like what it did to us when we first met.”
Hearing his words, a smile was brought to the face of the maiden. Now, they have one last challenge to face, escaping the prison. The maiden tried her best to get Quartz out, even using her tiara as some sort of knife to cut the metal but that did not turn out as planned. The bars are too thick for anything to cut through it, except for one.
From the arc, comes the same red bird with a rainbow tail. It smirks at both the young man and the maiden. With its long beak it breaks down the iron bars by pecking. It then leaves through the arc once more. Quartz and Virgo were gobsmacked by what happened. Wondering why “the” bird would help them all of a sudden.
“That was unexpected.” says, Virgo.
“I know that bird. I was chasing that bird when suddenly it led me to you.”
“Coincidence or destiny?” chuckles, Virgo in a sarcastic manner.
“Let’s find out soon.” replies, Quartz as he escapes his cell and dashes with Virgo to the nearest barn to borrow some stallions. As for the other prisoners, they were covetous after seeing that one of them has escaped the prison.
With only a few remaining time left? What would be Quartz’s actions? Is he to play the piccolo in front of the siege or was the term “music” a secret message that only Virgo could comprehend? The answer is to come.
